Ok so I probably already know the answer to this, but I was thinking about the other day and I was not positive.

If someone has a mental illness in the sense they are not in their right mind or an illness where they are like only halfway in their right mind will they go to Heaven?

And what about specific ones like Autism and Schizophrenia?

My answer is yes they will, but I am still curious as to what others think.

Once again I am absolutely serious about this and if I offend anyone I am really sorry.

I think God is the only One who knows the inner workings of individuals. I feel certain that His Infinite Grace will cover those who are really mentally ill.

I know He saves children who die young .... who had not reached the age of accountability. To me it would seem to be a similar situation for those who are mentally incapable of understanding right and wrong, evil and good.

You need to learn to leave such things in God's hand. That doesn't mean that we shouldn't pray for them, it just means that to worry is putting a down payment on something that you have no control over.Cheers

I believe they would go to heaven, if they are either not capable of comprehending their own need for Jesus or able to repent.

Well, it depends on the heart, if this preson is a good christian( by means a good follower of Christ) they'll be saved, and sometimes only they know, you may not. However, if they aren't and take part in the family of the Devil (love the world, against God), then you already know. God bless u! And the troubles that we have in this world, whether it's medical, financial or whatever, know that Heaven is Paradise! No Worries, No illness, it seems impossible, it doesn't seem, right, but know that God sees, and He can cure any illness.

"For there is nothing impossible with God; His word never fails" -Luke 1:37
"Things may seem impossible in the eyes of Man, but it is possible with God" -Matthew 19:26

Jesus also visited the mentally ill, and cured them too. Only way back when they thought they were posseded by evil spirits. I'm sure it will be fine...
