So I've been talking with quite a few of my friends lately and it turns out many of them are depressed not only that but self injure in one way or another. I never really realized this problem till just recently. But teens are afraid to speak out and say "hey I'm depressed" or "hey I need help". You think it would be easy for teens but it's not. I know first hand it's not. The only reason I am getting help is because I told the wrong person, really the right person and hd insisted I get help. Not everyone is this lucky. We have so Many resources but no one using them because they're afraid to speak out. Does anyone else see this problem? Teens afraid to speak out. Also the problem of how many teens are depressed, suicidal, or si. I just want to make sure this isn't all in my head.

Thanks,
Laura

Well Laura, I'm sure as humans we go through at least one phase of depression in our lives. It's not just your friends or you but just about everyone. Personally I've gone through a phase after my mother passed away. She died from cancer when I was 8 and not being able to help her and having to watch her health slowly deteriorate until she was practically paralyzed from fatigue and that took a toll on me. How was that fair that while I was witnessing this other kids could go outside and have fun playing with their parents? Even as a 8 year old I retreated into the confines of my heart, rejecting God and everyone else who said they were sorry and wanted to help. We all struggle with these things. I've even thought about suicide just to be reunited with my mother but God has helped me. He has blessed me with a wonderful step-mother. And he has shown me why he took my mother away from this earth. When your friends are hurting, or feeling unloved and lonely be there for them and just let them know that there is someone who will always love them and his name is Jesus. Share with them your struggles. For while God doesn't give us struggles to deal with, he will definitely use them. Your testimony is powerful because you've been challenged with this and overcame the obstacle. Don't give up on them! Show them the love and kindness of our Lord and Savior.

Jesus Christ will replace depression with Joy. It is the joy that can have joy in trying circumstances. This joy is not promises of a good life in this life as a Christian. But it is ETERNAL JOY!! It is the joy of the promises of God!!!

You know, God makes a lot of promises. Go do a study and look at all of the promises God makes with his people. Now, we know God is not a liar, so guess what? IF HE SAID IT, HE HAS TO DO IT!!! IT IS A PROMISE!!!

May Jesus bless you.
