I was raised Catholic and abandoned the church when I was ten after my best friend died of cancer, I was molested, and I was physically abused. I stopped believing in Jesus then, and soon after stopped believing in god. I suffered from severe depression and anxiety since I was seven, leading to self mutilation, drinking, and drug use. This was also around the time when I realized I was bisexual, and began to promiscuously pursue men. Then, after being raped by a man four years my senior repeatedly over a sixth month period, I finally became brave enough and broke up with him, leading to my year and a half of therapy, a hospitalization, and a bipolar diagnosis. Keep in mind, I have been witnessed to many times, and I have read the bible cover to cover. Someone just tell me something I can believe. I really just feel too smart to be witnessed to by most people. Give something substantial to turn me back to god or whatever.

I am sorry that you went through all of that. Abuse cannot be defended (no matter how much they might try themselves).

I should point out though, that you won't find God by trying to outwit people. If you want to go back to Him, you need to seek Him, and He cannot be outwitted.
If you are open for it, He might just answer when you least of all expect it :)

I am sorry with what you have to put up, I know it's hard, you start to question things and it got the point where you gave up on God and Jesus, I didn't go through all the stuff you went through but I know I hit rock bottom and I too was questioning things, but you know, things happen for a reason..
We're all going to have to face our dark days one time or another but you know
as you go through them , your not alone, our Lord was with you the whole way through. From the day you were brought into the world, to this very second :)
-Psalms 23:4
Even though I walk
through the darkest valley,[a]
I will fear no evil,
for you are with me;
your rod and your staff,
they comfort me

We can't turn you back to God, no one on Earth can, it is only you and Christ, if you are willing to turn back to him then pray and let your heart out to God and give your life to God, don't rely on people to try and change you and get you back on track, you ask God that things will change, you may not believe it now, but in the future :)

I know I'm only a 15 year old girl and your probably thinking why should I take advice from her, haha but I just want you to know, there's always a way out of problems, a way out of the darkness :) and one thing,
Jesus is right now knocking at the door of your heart and its your choice if you are willing to accept him in
-Revelation 3:20
Here I am! I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door,
I will come in and eat with that person, and they with me.

I have witnessed trials my own way and I can say I tried handling it on my own and it was a big fail, it got to the point where I wanted to get over and done with in life, but that's when Christ started slowly showing himself to me .. Slowly .. but as time passed I grew to love and really just gave all my burdens to him and now here I am one of the most happiest girl in my town, haha and I am actually greatful for the stuff I had to go through because I am able to relate to other people (in a way)

life's unfair and it sometimes just really uncool and you honestly can't outwit the Lord, he knows you better then any one on Earth and even yourself :) and you say you've read the bible, you won't understand anything and nothing will reach into your heart if you keep a barrier between you and Chirst, remove that barrier by letting Christ handle it and you will see miracles happening and things you thought it was impossible, will be posible once again in His name :) x

Wow, sweetie, I'm so sorry you've had to deal with such hard things :( .

That's a pretty big question especially since you already know the bible :). You might to work on the humility though ;). We are never too smart to outguess God. And studying the Bible on a continuous basis always brings new insight about God.

The main thing about having belief is choosing to believe. Those who want to believe, will believe. God gives us ENOUGH evidence to do this....the real struggle is a heart/pride struggle.

We all are born with stiff knees that refuse to bend before His presence. Until we see this inner rebellion and begin to want to get rid of it, there isn't anything anybody can say that will 'make' us believe. Your first prayer can be "Lord, help me to want to believe" then you can progress to "Lord help me to believe". Baby steps are fine :).

I'm reading a book by Philip Yancey "Reaching for the Invisible God" and it has a quote by Thomas Merton:

"We receive enlightenment only in proportion as we give ourselves more and more completely to God by humble submission and love. We do not first see, then act: we act, then see....and that is why the man [or woman] who waits to see clearly, before he will believe, never starts on the journey".

Praying for healing for you, dear heart...you are immensely loved :)

Even though I can't help you with the emotional hurts of your past, I can reassure you that Jesus does exist, and if you're willing to listen with an open mind, you will agree.

Even though a lot of people like to say Jesus didn't exist, the fact of the matter is that they're wrong. There are several ancient historians who talk about Jesus being a real person. Such names include Josephus, Pliny the Younger, and Cornelius Tacitus. They and other speak of a man named Jesus who was called Christ, executed under the eye of Pontius Pilate during the reign of Emperor Tiberius, and was worshiped by his believers as a deity. The Jewish writing, the Talmud, acknowledges that Jesus's tomb was later found empty! And none of these sources get their information from the Bible. You can rest assured that Jesus was a real person.

Now one might argue with me about whether or not the miracles of the New Testament happened. Or one may debate the parables of Jesus with me until they're blue in the face. But one outstanding fact remains: the explanation for why Jesus's tomb can only be best explained by a resurrection. The prominent theory posed by skeptics is that Jesus's body was stolen. For an explanation for why this fails, read this page. Other theories are out there too: a hidden twin, hallucinations, some even go so far as to claim Jesus was alien!

Related, consider this. Despite what many will say, the New Testament has remained largely unchanged over the past 2000 years. How do we know? We have some 5,000+ manuscripts, including fragments, of the NT dating between AD 70 and AD 120. Their content agree over 99% of the time! Paul, a former Pharisee who had a divine experience with Jesus, ended up writing most of the epistles of the NT. In 1 Corinthians 15:3-8, he wrote: "For what I received I passed on to you as of first importance: that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day according to the Scriptures, and that he appeared to Peter,b and then to the Twelve. After that, he appeared to more than five hundred of the brothers at the same time, most of whom are still living, though some have fallen asleep. Then he appeared to James, then to all the apostles, and last of all he appeared to me also, as to one abnormally born."

As the Jews might say, writing this takes some chutzpah. In addition to the detailed locations laid out in books like Luke, the apostle here is essentially making it possible for people to verify whether he's talkin' nonsense or not. He just said that over 500 people had seen a post-resurrected Jesus. Isn't it weird that through all of this, nobody who claimed to see Jesus ever backed out of the faith? They never denied him, to the best of our knowledge. Indeed, they went through all sorts of horrid, life-long tortures often culminating in martyrdom. That's not something people do if they don't know for a fact their belief is true. These people saw a post-resurrected Jesus, that's the best conclusion we got.

So what does that mean for us? That means that Jesus was a real person who taught, died, and rose from the dead. His rising from the dead implies he was the Son of God. Which naturally implies God exists, and that for all that's happened to you over the years, he's ready and willing to receive you back to him if you will let him. God's a gentleman, and won't go where he's not wanted. It's your choice to accept him... and if I may offer a hint, it's a good idea to accept him. ;)

Just a little something for you to muse upon. If you got any questions, feel free to shoot them at us.

You posted this on the teen forum, so I will assume that you are a teenager. You have suffered major trauma and demonic attack. I've worked with children who have endured the same, and worse traumatic situations. You may ask, why did this happen to you? Satan. You may ask? Why didn't God protect you?maybe you're angry with God because of your situation. What I do know is that those things are in your past. Are there memories? Yes. Do they effect you now. Yes. Is it from God? No. Its from satan. He's the one who wants to keep you there mentally. Ill tell you this. You survived! You are great! You have a life to live. Look forward, you will do great things all of heaven is chearing for you. You will be a great example of someone who wasn't defeated by satan. Be that girlforGod! People are depending on you to do just that. Love, "The Flight Man" 3:16
