Why is it that everytime I turn on the tv or radio or open a amaginze or even a newspaper I have to turn it off or set it down?
It seems as though I can't sit down and enjoy a little media without hunting for something decent.. and many time decent still doesn't fit into moral! Uggerbuggerfadoodlehoodle! (<my language for when I'm frusturated)

Blerrgh.. and then christian channels and most christian movies (no offence) are boring and cliche. It should be a sin to make The Word boring! Luckily I was directed toward contemporary music to satisfy my taste for noise.. but as a teenage girl I can't really go out and do anything unless I'm surrounded by several people or with adults.

I could sit down and write shows & movies that are appropriate.. but then who would dare direct & create my mess of words? Lol!

Anywhoo.. I'm just angry I needed to rant. No media for me D': *tear tear* cry cry*

Oh and don't get me wrong I LOOOOVE books.. good christian novels still tend to be hard to find unless they're just pages of lectures (sadly I like long speeches and lectures because I'm boring, but I can't read that all the time)..
Why can't more christians be in the netertainment business? :( grrfloobal

Anyway, if you feel the same message me or something. I like discussing topics like these. In fact anyone message me I feel like talking and I can't sleep/: haha

God Bless you!! Thanks for reading my long pointless post :)

I have been feeling the same way lately. I'm a naturally shy person and whenever I talk to people its not a good experience for me because they will either act in a way that I see as unpleasing to God or bring up all the crazy things in the media. I finally spoke up tonight (in a nice way) and really just disagreed with them. They didn't like what I had to say but I'm proud of myself in a way for actually saying what I think instead of shrugging it off. I love coming here and knowing I'm not the only person going through it. Lol. And your post was definitely not pointless! :)

LOL you certainly have a way with words :) .

I, too, find the media extremely depressing. Seems like most people want to read about the murders, violence, and all that awful stuff. I guess it's human nature to dwell on the worst of humanity.

It is nice to meet people that want to talk about goods things...like the love of God and how nice people can be. That's not to say we should ignore bad things that happen; but to practice gratitude and have a healthy attitude, I think it is very important to focus on the good things in life.

Reading 'good' books can be very encouraging...especially if you're in depressing surroundings. The Bible being number one :) .

There are some REALLY good books out there. Like "Anne of Green Gables". My daughter picked that up a year ago...she's 20 yrs old..and was actually irritated about not being told about it sooner. It's a great book for all ages.

Also "The Secret Garden" by Frances Burnett (?)

There's a lot of Christian fiction too....Stephen Bly has some intriguing books. I didn't think I'd like romance books (tasteful...not full of sex but always contain Christian teachings) written by a man but his are very entertaining.

Some other of my favorite inspirational authors:

Lynn Morris...Cheney Duvall M.D. series
Francine Rivers...Mark of the Lion series ( the second book is the
BEST BOOK I've ever read...have kleenex handy ;) )
Lisa Wingate
Karen Witemeyer

These are all Christian books and some are found in the inspirational fiction section in public libraries.

Some people don't think much of inspirational Christian 'romance' books but I think they are very good for young people...they illustrate what a Christian man and a Christian woman should look like (and many times what they should not look like ) and what a good marriage can be like. Almost all I've read contains the gospel message.

A non-fiction book I'm reading right now is WONDERFUL...."What's So Amazing About Grace?" by Philip Yancey. It centers around forgiveness and has so many gems of wisdom in it. Yancey is really good with helping us to understand God, His forgiveness, and why it's important for us to learn to forgive.

A good outlet for your creativity is in writing stories and keeping a journal. You are at your most creative time of life so take advantage of it and ...create.

Also, try sketching and drawing, painting. Just play around with these and see what happens. These are fun ways to entertain yourself :) .
