Throughout my, what in retrospect is a short, life (because I'm only 17) I've encountered a lot of people who's beliefs point them to think that baptism is just some kind of outward symbol, a profession of your faith alone and that it's not to forgive your sins nor that is is an essential step in salvation. Please post comments so we can discuss your views, I really wanna see what other people think.

It is an outward sign in front of others and for yourself that you have died with Christ (left your old life and ways) and have now risen with Him (into a new life empowered by the Holy Spirit - the same Spirit that brought Jesus up from the dead). It is something that gives you a tangible way to experience the reality of your new life in Christ.

In the same way communion is a way to experience the sacrifice of Jesus and His blood shed for you.

Both of these things do not bring you salvation, but they are the means of His grace to make your awareness more real, and give testimony to your beliefs.

It is only your faith in Christ that saves you. Not by any "works" you do. It is a free gift of grace bought by the blood of Christ. Anything you have to do is like "works" and would cancel out grace. Baptism and communion are both means of experiencing in a personal way the realities of Christ.

Hope this helps.

Sir, I'm going to have to disagree with you, where in the bible do you draw that from?

Unfortunately you appear to be a bit confused on your understanding of "baptism in water" and its meaning, you can find a bit of a study Here on it...

So you agree with me, then, that baptism is necessary for one's salvation.
