When you obey Jesus, you will find yourself loosing many friends, even being disowned by family members.

Jesus brings division.

Because his words are light, but the world lives in darkness. His way is the life, but the way of the world is death. His way is the narrow way, but the ways of the world are the broad way.

The world lies in sin, but the Saints of God live in righteousness.

Jesus said blessed are you IF you are persecuted for righteousness sake. You are happy, because they did the same to the prophets before you. If they have hated him they will hate you. Be glad, because your reward in heaven is great.

The world loves sin, and cannot receive the Spirit of God. But you hear him and have heard him and have received him.

The carnal mind is hostile against the Spirit.

Resist the devil, and flee from sin.

I've seen this happening in my own life and in other countries where they are persecuted because of their faith . But Jesus overcame the world :).

Too true. You cannot have one foot in the world and one in Heaven. I became disconnected from my ex girlfriend for our lack of shared convictions. I don't have difficulty in making friends, but upon reassessing their convictions - or lack thereof - I have had difficulty in preserving friendships, let alone initiating anything beyond being acquaintances.

I hope that this will not discourage Christians of any age - but especially the young - from falling away from their faith. Faith is more rewarding than people's attention and affection.
