I just finished a 21 day fast, and this first week was overwhelming!! I'm going through a spiritual dryness and I'm drained in every way. This battle sucked all my energy and godly desire. I feel like I'm in limbo. Advice? Encouragement? Wisdom?

I surely hope you drank adequately during this fast. If not, you need to. Most people do a fast for only a couple days, NOT 3 weeks. :/ No wonder you're drained and tired..

As its is written...neglect of the body is of no value against the indulgence of the flesh ...A true fast to God is to share your bread with the poor Isa 58

Was there someone who was with you, encouraging you, standing by you, or what while you were fasting? My understanding of FASTING is a very private affair between you and GOD. It is something you don't actually broadcast or let it be known...especially on a world-wide internet!!!!! And, if the END result is you physically, emotionally, and spiritually being "SUCKED DRY" and having NO GODLY DESIRE, being in LIMBO.....and seeking advice from TOTAL strangers.......HOW in heaven's name did FASTING turn so sour? What good is YOUR fasting, and how do you expect others to pick up the broken, messed up pieces and suddenly make this 21 day of disaster become productive? Are you for real?

My advice is to get something to eat and drink water. What's the purpose of fasting specifically for 21 days? It sounds from your post that you have already been at it for a week. I would end the fast and call it good.

The human body is NOT designed for going without food and water for more than a few days at most..

Why do you do this every time? Do you know how to show love or give encouragement to anyone? She tried a fast and it was tough. Can you show a little compassion?

I tried to fast for a week one time when I was much younger just drinking juice and water. It was tough and I caved after day three. But your mind usually can think more clearly and when you pray and communicate with God you can get close. Give the lady a break will ya?

When I was young, I too found it profitable to deny self of the carnal pleasure of eating for a time. (I never tried it for more than three days though.) I also found that it brought spiritual clarity. A sense of physical well being was a positive side effect also. Wish I could still do it today. I don't think God wants me to look and feel like a pudgy little pig whose mind is clouded by junk food. Nowadays, I get a migraine as soon as I begin. I sure that the Lord would sustain me if I actually had to go without food, though. I would never think of trying to go without water. Clean, clear water is always associated with purification.

UPDATE: MANY people didn't read correctly...this is a 21 day POST fast. Meaning I already finished and I'm not famished because of the food deprivation. I took it very slow and had a successful fast. What I needed was prayer/loving advice to prepare me for the spiritual battle coming on strong since the end of the fast. Recap:finished fast, being spiritually attacked, need a breath of encouragement.

Its dissaponting to depend on the body of Christ online or as you say, total strangers, when going through something at inconvenient hours and feel as if I'm bothering unbelievers. It was a corporate fast, so not much for secret fasts. My details such as purposes, how or when, are not being shared on the www. What is, however, was my concern of the spiritual attacks I'm experiencing as a first time faster. Aren't we here to seek advice? No need to patronize me.

Im sure your efforts are duly noted :). I only abstained from food during my work hours where i have a lot of down time. I only drank liquids but when it was too much i did have a small portion of veggies. Its about stretching yourself you know, not punishing.

You always find a way to be encouraging to a brother or sister in need or seeking the truth.

Simply put, pw doesn't like women.
(BTW, got nothing for dimples' question. I'm not a faster.
