Hey guys.
How's it going?
Hope you all have a great summer so far. :)

Guys, I have a problem and need some suggestions/advice from you guys.

I am a Christian who is currently still struggling with porn & masturbation addiction.
though I've made some improvement.
I was doing it every 2 days last year, now, i do it every a week or so.
But still, this is NOT right. (I don't want to be easily satisfied and stuck in this level. I want to be completely free because I believe that God IS able to do that.)
And I really want to stop this.

I've seen the effects of having this bad habit: low self-esteem, not confident in yourself, bad relationship w others, lazy, like to take shortcut, taking things for granted, less spend time w friends, not productive in life (therefore, less chance being successful in life), etc.

I think this habit is REALLY DESTRUCTIVE. and I believe that if a person set free from this bad habit, he or she would be way more productive and confident doing things in life and thus have GREATER chance of being successful in life.

In my personal life, I have wasted so many years just because of this bad habit. I feel that I could have used those wasted years for something more productive. and I believe if I would've done that, I believe I would've been more successful by now. Therefore, once again, I really need to destroy this bad habit.

So, I was wondering if you guys have any suggestion or advice that I can use to stop this bad habit?

So far I've found two things really helpful:
1. Asking help from God (Meditating Word of God)
2. Taking your responsibility (Disciplining your mind, for ex: put your Laptop outside)

Do you guys have anything else to add (or some insights)? I would really appreciate it! Thank you so much!

P.S. (here I want to explain just in case there are people out there who are struggling with this bad habit and looking for help. Hopefully can be helpful to you. Never give up! God is able! )

(These two related because in order for me to discipline my mind, I have to meditate on good things (things that are above/WOG). I have also read books about mind from Joyce Meyer. It's been really helpful to me.
And that's why I love Joyce. I believe God has used her mightily to help people through her personal life, including me. For those of you guys who are also struggle with this habit I HIGHLY recommend you to read or listen to Joyce's books/sermons.
I also think disciplining your mind (taking responsibilities for yourself) is really helpful, because you can't just wish to change and just sit there and wishing God to help you while you're doing nothing. (this is from Joyce's teaching). So, in this case, I started to put my laptop outside, and THAT's when my life began to change gradually.)

Romans 8: 1- 2, There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit. For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has made me free from the law of SIN and death.
You see bro, we have already been freed from all sin, but the enemy wants us to believe we are in a Circle. My suggestion is seek God's face and spend a lot of time worshipping and chatting with Him. And whenever you feel any urge to sin, confess the word of God with your month, coz the word is sharper than any two edged sword. God bless you

These statements are simply not true. I'd be interested to see your evidence.

I've been "struggling" --if you can call it that-- for years now. i just really enjoy it. I don't think it's unhealthy. But it depends on how dependent you are. If you have an addiction, that is never good. But if you can get on with your life... A LOT of people believe it actually helps them in social situations...theres nothing worst that pent up tensions and sexual feelings...makes it hard to concentrate and can actually embarrass you.

I still do it regularly, but you have to decide for yourself if it is causing harm in your day to day life.

Hi, having been through all that and, please God, being free of doing it, I can assure you, God does not want you to masturbate. I realise how hard it is to stop, believe me, but it is without doubt a grave sin.

Yeah! Lifetime movies! Movies that promote and glamorize adultery if you're a woman married to that horrible horrible man. Unless you're a man that cheats, then you're a horrible horrible man for cheating and how dare you and you deserve every bad thing you get! Like your wife killing you so she can marry some hyper romanticized dream guy that she can lust after. Sex, lies, adultery, lust, murder, envy, deceit... much better option. Wait.. what?

We want to be freed from the corruptions of the self destructive sexual sin many often encounter in their daily lives. This is why dressing appropriate, speaking cleanly for others, and us turning away from anything that might entice the flesh is necessary. It is a sin that grows and cleaves that it's nearly impossible to resist the craving alone, so in God's hands do we put our confidence and complexities. We must keep in mind that God is willing and able to help us through it in all completeness. Here are some verses from 1 cor 7:
{New King James Version}
[13] Foods for the stomach and stomach for foods, but God will destroy both it and them. Now the body is not for sexual immorality but for the Lord, and the Lord for the body. [14] And God both raised up the Lord and will also raise us up by His power. [15] Do you not know that your bodies are members of Christ? Shall I then take the members of Christ and make them members of a harlot? Certainly not! [16] Or do you not know that he who is joined to a harlot is one body with her? For "the two" He says, "shall become one flesh." (footnote: a) [17] But he who is joined to the Lord is one spirit with Him. [18] Flee sexual immorality. Every sin that a man does is outside the body, but he who commits sexual immorality sins against his own body. [19] Or do you not know that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God, and you are not your own? [20] For you were bought at a price; therefore glorify God in your body (footnote: b) and in your spirit, which are God's.
Footnotes:
a: 1 Corinthians 6:16 Genesis 2:24
b: 1 Corinthians 6:20 NU-Text ends the verse at body.

By this we see that God intends for us to remain pure, elsewhere the bible states that those who have hope in Him are pure just as He is pure. It is a daily thing for us, often we're much like the seed thrown into thorny grounds who receives the word with gladness yet endures there in for a short amount of time, because the cares of this world resembling thorns chokes the life out of him which is the word of God. Also we cannot only be hearers of the word but doers also, if we would put down our fleshly selfish ways and purpose ourselves in the direction of His good will, it would be well with our soul. Now I'm not to say we are justified by works but it is first prioritized that we believe and have faith in Jesus Christ and the Gospel, but secondarily we must be good stewards and servants in the law of the Lord, as one who follows the commands of a shepherd as Jesus said "My sheep hear my voice and I know them and they listen." and elsewhere stated in scripture, ..."If you love me, you will keep my commandments."

So then, I hope this information was helpful. It helps me.

ugh, yet another 2 year old thread i'm trying to comment on.
Yes. We have one user in particular that seems rather insistent on zombie threads. I tried to point this out to them twice and apparently it was to no avail.

Lifetime movies are actually about real life experience and contain no porn.
