With all of these masturbation and sex threads, people on this forum are causing me to stumble. I've struggled with masturbation for 7 years, and being constantly reminded about this issue on Christian forums is urging my problem on even more.

As it says in 1 Corinthians 8, " 9 Be careful, however, that the exercise of your rights does not become a stumbling block to the weak. 10 For if someone with a weak conscience sees you, with all your knowledge, eating in an idol’s temple, won’t that person be emboldened to eat what is sacrificed to idols? 11 So this weak brother or sister, for whom Christ died, is destroyed by your knowledge. 12 When you sin against them in this way and wound their weak conscience, you sin against Christ. 13 Therefore, if what I eat causes my brother or sister to fall into sin, I will never eat meat again, so that I will not cause them to fall."

Can we just stop posting these type of threads by asking if it's a sin or not? If you've never masturbated - great, don't start. If you do masturbate - listen to your convictions given to you by the Holy Spirit and read your Bible and pray about it. I'm sure I'm not the only person stumbling because of these threads.

You may say, "Well then don't look at those threads" or "don't view this forum". Well, it's kind of hard not to look at the threads when there's at least 3 of them in every category that you go to. And this issue isn't just within this forum, it's with almost every Christian forum that I look at. Can we be strong enough to be the first Christian forum to outlaw masturbation threads? Or at least stop posting them?

i tune out when people start talking about sex most of the time. in real life and online.

it kind of bugs me. its private and blazing it online will not help perhaps if there was an isolated forum or help group or something.

I know people have to deal with it but meditating on it does not help. it is better to focus on God. here are some songs and bible verses. lol that is what I do when the subject comes up in real life.

i recite Bible verses in my head and kind of zone out to a song lol. most of the time people catch on that I'm not paying attention (or perhaps it is the bright red color change that does it) and change the subject.

Well people just feel like they must post threads even if they know the answer to the questions they ask

Masturbation and sexual orientation seem to be the two things that people post about the most... which is ironic in my opinion since I've considered both issues to be no one's business, save the individuals. I agree with you. I'm getting tired of seeing those threads being posted and posted and posted. Most forums don't even allow that, only 1 thread per topic. Now I see why.

Probably because they don't like the answer, or they're insecure in their answer.

I don't get the point in posting irrelevant threads, i mean you do something and you feel guilty about it(if its not a sin,the Holy Spirit won't convince you about it). but because you don't want to bring yourself to accept this answer or you just want to draw sympathy, you start a pointless thread.. What do you want to hear?. That Masturbation is not a sin?... I'm sure very soon people will ask if Lying is a sin if they do it to save somebody's life..

Dear Lecrae: I urge you to locate a copy of "a normal christian life" by Watchmen Nee. I believe it contains all of the information you seek that will help you defeat the flesh within. Take care brother and God bless. :)

I think this thread puts us up to 7 porn and or masturbation threads.

While we're at it, let's add one more. I prefer even numbers.

This thread is about stopping our brothers and sisters in Christ from stumbling by being exposed to all of these threads, and it annoys me that you're not looking at the underlying message that I wrote. This shouldn't just be labeled another "Masturbation" thread, it should be labeled as not letting your Christian family stumble because of their struggles with this in the past and present.

some people may get help from those threads though lecrae so we shouldnt just outright ban them because you cant handle yourself.

though i would be ok if the mods had a way of merging them all. then all the masturbation is in one thread and not 20, same with porn

Whether you realize it or not, you've only perpetuated it by further continueing the discussion. Now this thread will be at the top of this category for three months, and it will cause you to stumble.

Now, I am not ignoring the problem. Rather, I am addressing it pragmatically. Yes, if something causes you to stumble, avoid it. That's why we're commanded to flee from temptation. There are places I know to expect things are going to happen, if I don't have to be there, I'm not. When I am, however, I seek to be on guard against what I know is a threat. Not all temptations can be avoided though. Otherwise, we'll be hermits, left to our own devices, which we'll find ways to sin then as well.
