using the Bible as my source for anything i question about the world. it tells me no. no matter what I think should or should not be it tell me what it should be according to Gods word.

1 Peter 2:13 "Submit yourself to every ordinance of man . . . to the king, as supreme; Or unto governors."
Matthew 22:21 "Render therefore unto Caesar the things which are Caesar's." See also Romans 13:1,7 and Titus 3:1.
The Bible quite often tells us to respect and obey the laws of men.

although it also says in acts to obey Gods word over all others, it is HE who tells us to obey the laws. no matter how much we disagree with them. I smoked weed for 7 years and im glad i quit(before i got saved actually) and as far as everyone else. the Bible says obey the law. until that becomes legal id have to go with Gods word and not do it till then....

I have nothing against cannabis, the other "softer" drugs I don't think should be done all the time, but I believe it should be the individuals choice if they want to take them.
Everyone should stay away from stuff like crack though.
True say, yo. Meth, heroin, ecstasy, crack, cocaine, PCP and anything man-made is dangerous. Except LSD. That's okay in moderation.

LSD I wouldn't touch, and I know I could not mentally handle that at this point. I don't advocate for it.

Besides..I wouldn't want to deal with the legal issues of being caught with that or the legal issues you can get into just for ingesting it.

Guess what people, if you truly love Christ you will keep His commands. Cannabis and the softer drugs are ILLEGAL, being a criminal isn't such a good testimony, unless we are prohibited from following the sane doctrine. So for your own good don't fool yourselves. Not only are drugs illegal, we are called to be sober. When you intake any drug for the means of recreation, you are bowing your knee to satan and opening yourself up to demons.
*hands down the best reponse i read!

drugs ruin lives! yesss even weed!
you cant commit your life in Jesus Christ with an addtiction.
this body you have, is not yours to put garbage in ..remember this body you have belongs to God.

Yes almost all drugs have the potential to ruin lives, but so do prescription drugs. Some people do not use marijuana for the right reasons, but some people abuse anxiety meds, pain meds, ADHD meds, prescription meds in general, even cough medicine. Are you going to keep people from using those because they have the potential to help some people and ruin others?

It's being prescribed as a medicine, not for recreational use. Yes, people abuse prescription medicines. From a Romans 13 stand point, I'm not sure that it is actaully against the law to abuse prescribed medicine.... I think I'll find out more about that.

The thread in general from my understanding is based around the illegality, and the fact that the vast majority of Marijuana is consumed for the high. If the prescribed medicine is being abused for the same purposes, then yes, I disapprove.

Matt 6:24 You cannot serve two Gods!

Also, yes... if it is prescription, and someone is trying to aquire some illegally, I do not approve. If you want a medical marjiauna thread, I think that is where this prescription drug issue would fall under.

What does it show the world, when we require things other than God to be content? Should not our joy come from God? Abuse of Marijuana for the high, is seeking joy that is apart from God. Same for abuse of prescribed medicine.

God made marijuana read genesis he created every tree that bears seed, he created every green herb.

Pray earnestly for answers on wether it is okay with god please.

Why would GOD create marijuana and want you to abstain from it? He said every green herb is for the service of man.

Some argue and say that means you cant smoke it and get high, okay then ill eat it like oregano on my spaggeti but ill still get high.

Some argue that its against the law the bible says follow goverment. There were many prophets and preachers that did not follow the "law" and were killed. And god thought that they were doing good.

now my experience...

I smoked marijuana for a few years and i thought my life sucked and i felt like i HAD to smoke all day to stay sane. even then it wasnt making me happy.

On the other hand I started going to church and getting closer to god and still smoked marijuana and i would smoke a joint then read the bible and try to learn more about god and jesus. i would pray about it all the time and didnt feel i was doing something wrong.

So my problem was spiritual, god made me feel better and i enjoyed everything in life more..

Since then i quit, me and my brother quit cold turkey in ONE night. I am called to be a Minister and dont want people to come against me. Even though some people think i still smoke..... god knows the truth.

CoreyRyan, i've been down that same road. I used genesis to sort of validate the usage of marijuana being a creation of God and so being safe to use without guilt or penalty. But remember a curse fell upon all of creation when sin entered the world. I used to be a hardcore stoner, i'm talking all day 7 days a week morning to night. I thought it was ok because everything seems pretty fine while under the influence, but I realized that too much good is in fact NOT good. You see, when you smoke cannabis you face your life problems almost in an apathetic way, everything feels fine, and cannabis sort of becomes your source to exit out of your problems/boredom and we become dependent to it whether we admit it or not. We were created to depend upon the Holy Spirit completely. There is no better feeling than to know that God is for us, that He is in control of our lives, and that we have nothing to lose because if we die we will be with Him. If we face persecution, we know that we are true disciples of Him. If we face disease, we know that He is a perfect healer. But most important of all, if He is Lord of our lives He will do His will in our lives which is perfect and good.

God Bless you

First i quit smoking. second when i wasnt seeking god i tried to rely on pot and no it wasnt good, not because of pot but because of not seeking god. but then i sought god and smoked pot and it was okay. Again at this time i dont smoke its been along time ... I dont NEED it your right but it doesnt mean if i smoke one day it will be wrong. Even if you consider it a sin (even though i do not see the scripture that says dont smoke) then read this

Romans 3....
20Therefore by the deeds of the law there shall no flesh be justified in his sight: for by the law is the knowledge of sin.

21But now the righteousness of God without the law is manifested, being witnessed by the law and the prophets;

22Even the righteousness of God which is by faith of Jesus Christ unto all and upon all them that believe: for there is no difference:

23For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;

24Being justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus:

please really read and think on this. Some people are addicted to caffiene and drink soda and coffee all day... So do you say abstain from it alltogether? some people are selfish with their money and dont tithe even though they claim to be a christian... some people pass by the hungry and homeless should they have no money at all?

Matthew 15:11
Not that which goeth into the mouth defileth a man; but that which cometh out of the mouth, this defileth a man.

Im sorry but gods word is very clear. Its not what goes in the mouth... yet what comes out of the mouth? for out of the mouth a man speaketh from heart. God knows the heart of man...

Mark 7

15 There is nothing from without a man, that entering into him can defile him: but the things which come out of him, those are they that defile the man.

17 And when he was entered into the house from the people, his disciples asked him concerning the parable.

18 And he saith unto them, Are ye so without understanding also? Do ye not perceive, that whatsoever thing from without entereth into the man, it cannot defile him;

19 Because it entereth not into his heart, but into the belly, and goeth out into the draught, purging all meats?

20 And he said, That which cometh out of the man, that defileth the man.

21 For from within, out of the heart of men, proceed evil thoughts, adulteries, fornications, murders,

22 Thefts, covetousness, wickedness, deceit, lasciviousness, an evil eye, blasphemy, pride, foolishness:

23 All these evil things come from within, and defile the man.

1 Timothy 4:3-4 (King James Version)

3Forbidding to marry, and commanding to abstain from meats, which God hath created to be received with thanksgiving of them which believe and know the truth.
4For every creature of God is good, and nothing to be refused, if it be received with thanksgiving:

Bro, your body isn't yours anymore. I told you i've been down that same path used those same verses to justify my actions or desires, which is something done very often. Done even by satan when he tempted Jesus. But it is WRONG there is no gray area. It is illegal under federal law, and we are told to be under the law. Jesus accomplished the law, even that of the earthly authorities, and He is God. How much more worthy than Him are you to break the law?

If you truly care about being a good witness of Jesus on this earth, then stop smoking. If you don't really care then keep on doing it.

Don't base your decisions upon other people's actions. Base your decision upon God's Holy Spirit and don't look at the word of God and try to validate what you want to do with it. Instead truly ask God to show you what is right and to show you what He truly wants to tell you through His word. Trust me, it'll make a difference.

you didnt even read my posts

I said i dont smoke anymore... i dont smoke anymore.... i dont smoke anymore.... why didnt you even read what i said? I feel dissed bro....

Read the scripture i wont be judged by the law, but by belief in jesus christ... how can i make it any easier read it please.

I post scripture.... and you tell me its just not okay... why cause you just say it?

I am not more worthy then jesus to break the law. If i break the law its because im NOT as holy and perfect as the son of god. He was perfect in all ways, tempted yet did not sin. Did no evil, yet men KILLED HIM.

Now at some point in everyones life they drive a car and accidently speed. You broke the law do you not love jesus? If you love jesus you will never ever accidently speed again will you?

I care about jesus not what goverment says, jesus is my president... You say that i try to validate my desire through the word? i feel like im being accused man jesus said that we are not judged by the law, the law is the knowledge of sin... so i dont love jesus if i sin?

romans 3:28 Therefore we conclude that a man is justified by faith without the deeds of the law.

Am i changing the word or am i posting it in truth? I confess to be a sinner, i try yet i still sin!

1 John 1:8 If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us.
1 Kings 8:46 For there is no man that sinneth not

I still love you bro. but i dont think youll really read this. I think its meant for someone else who will come read it. Its time christians learned to LOVE and not push people away with this "im as perfect as god and your a sinner" attitude. Its just not true.

James 5:16 So admit your sins to each other,

What sins? you mean i have sins??? haha

John 13:34 A new commandment I give unto you, That ye love one another; as I have loved you, that ye also love one another.

Jesus wants us to love eachother not to judge and accuse others, focus on LOVE!!!!

I'm never going to applaud the fact that you think it's right to ingest cannabis. I don't care if you use analogies or examples of other sins. Yes we are not perfect, but through the power of Christ we are saved from the power of sin, and are sanctified. If we PRACTICE sin we are NOT of GOD. I am not judging anybody, I am only reciting scripture period.

1 John 1:6-10

6 If we say that we have fellowship with Him, and walk in darkness, we lie and do not practice the truth. 7 But if we walk in the light as He is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus Christ His Son cleanses us from all sin.
8 If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. 9 If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. 10 If we say that we have not sinned, we make Him a liar, and His word is not in us.

are you serious? God made marijuana is your excuse to do something illegal? God made everything. He is the creator of every human and everything in the universe. so why not do it all? Smoke, drink, kill, lie, cheat, steal. i mean he created it all right? i apologize for my harshness but this is absolutely astonishing coming from a christian. im glad to hear that you quit now. but i wouldnt suggest, especially as a minister to say God made it so just pray about it. He says specifically to obey the laws and until that is legal we are forbidden. WE DONT NEED DRUGS TO ENHANCE OUR EXPERIENCE WITH GOD. WE HAVE THE HOLY SPIRIT. WHY IS THAT NOT ENOUGH???
