I read something from someone's post on Facebook and really saw reason with it on a particular day.
You know, until you are able to speak the love language of the person you're in a relationship with, you may go as far as moving the globe for the person, and the person would still feel like you do not really love him or her.
For instance, in a marital relationship, if the love language of the wife falls under 'acts of service,' and the husband keeps on buying the wife gifts and never renders service to her in any way, for example, assisting her in one way or the other around the house, or offer to do something for her that could mean 30 minutes or an extra hour of sleep for her, and instead keeps buying her gifts; she'll end up feeling unloved or inadequately loved at some point.

That is the same way it is with God. Yes, God has a love language, and it is 'Obedience'- John 14:15- If ye love me, keep my commandments.
So, if you say you are in a relationship with God and truly love Him, the evidence of that love would be in your obedience to His word and His Spirit.

Do you really love God the way you claim to?

The way to love God is by acting in accordance with His character, for example, the way to love that God is just is by doing justice, the way to love that God is holy is by being holy as His is holy, and so forth. The Bible often uses the same terms to describe aspects of the character of God as it does to describe aspects of the character of God's law, such as with it being holy, righteous, and good (Romans 3:20), or with justice, mercy, and faithfulness being weightier matters of the law (Matthew 23:23), which is because it is God's instructions for how to act in accordance with those aspects of His character. So it is not so much that obedience to anything that I God could have conceivably commanded is a way to love Him, but that everything that He chose to command was specifically commanded in order to teach us how to love a different aspect of His character.

yes, i do. 1 of my daily edifying formats is a 4 part lesson: admit, identify, recognize & correct. since becoming born again in 93', i have always improved, never backslidden. i don't like the long periods it took me to improve on some issues but they were improved. on the subject of housework, i do most of it.

The problem with christianese is it incorrectly points to this idea that we choose God. We don't. God chooses us first.

You don't love God on your own. You're simply reflecting God's love back to him.

You can be obedient, pray more, read the Bible, etc. These are great ways to understand God better. These are great ways to advance and have a good life on earth with spirit laws. But you're already loved. 🤷‍♀️ The fact that God chose you, means you're saved. He loves who he loves, which is not everyone.

God is the initiator and we respond. He loved us first. Jesus died for us while we were still sinners. All of us. For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten son... Faith comes by hearing. The gospel is God's and his Word will not return void. We can respond to His love by choosing to love or reject Him. Why? Because God in His sovereignty chose to give humans free will to have a true relationship with His creation. We're not controlled robots. God is still sovereign and He has mercy on whom He wills. God doesn't purposely exclude certain people for no reason other than he arbitrarily just didn't choose them. Everyone has the same opportunity to respond to the gospel message. Many just don't want God. God is patient because he doesn't want anyone to perish, so the second coming is not late. And we don't do things on our own. When we abide in Christ the Holy Spirit is our helper. So what enables us to keep responding is also God. The Sprit is willing though the flesh is weak and all men fall short. We cannot boast in ourselves but in God. All glory to Him. God didn't randomly choose us over others before the foundation of the world. He chose whoever believes in Jesus. And believing in Jesus means if we love him we keep his commandments and they are not burdensome. For those that cast out demons in his name etc Jesus still said depart from me you workers of iniquity. There are wolves in sheep's clothing etc. Nothing can pluck you from God's hands, but people can walk away. We do not work to be saved. Jesus said it is finished. Works are the fruit of our faith.

Do you really love God the way you claim to?
I recently discovered the 5 love languages book and took the quiz so this post caught my eye lol Wow, I never thought of it that way but yes that makes a lot of sense. If you love me, keep my commandments. That's what God said about himself. And it's not like that's His only characteristic. Be Holy because I am Holy. God is love. How can you say you love God who you don't see if you hate your brother who you see? And can you really say you love God if you never spend any time with Him? Aka reading His Word and in prayer. When God says to love him with all your heart, soul, and mind He means it's a relationship. Would you tell your romantic partner you love them but then proceed to ignore them and whatever they said? That doesn't make any sense. Good post that gets you thinking. Thanks for sharing :)
