I walked through a bad part of town yesterday evenening around 8 o clock and I saw like 10 hookers on the side of the road, they're there everytime I walk by. I felt really bad for them and felt like inviting them to church or reading them Bible verses or something. Whats the best way to help?
I hear a lot of times they are foreigners that were normal people beforehand and then can't get a job and then they meet someone who promises to help them and then.. Yeah. its sad.
Any Ideas?

I'm assuming that things are ran the same worldwide, as they are here in America, with hookers. But here most of them have pimps. Pimps are usually violent, not only against the prostitutes, but against anyone who tries to interfere with the prostitutes, or prevent them from working, or even trying to help them quit. I'm not sure what the best way to reach out to them would be. Or if it would even be wise to do as a male, because you risk them taking advantage of you. Seems you would need a female involved as well, that won't be so easily distracted by them. Or be at risk of them trying to seduce you.
But really, before you do anything, you need to figure out how you would handle the potential threat from an angry, drug fueled pimp that may assault you for interfering, and then beat the prostitute for talking to you. I'm not saying to give up the idea. But more to realize the possible problems that can arise to be better prepared.

Pray a lot.Fast and Pray a lot..its a must.
Mostly hookers are desperate people struggling to make a living.
Its good that you have compassion....

Contact some Good fearless senior people in church who are crazy enough to Share God and is mad about how to win another person to God(do not share about this desire of yours to everyone you know..especially family if your family members aren't close like friends to you).
Then God will sort everything out once you finally start making steps to Share Gospel with them.
When we Fast and Pray God's Humility covers us..
They will listen and you will also speak with Godliness..

Again Pray a lot as it is definitely an entangling sinful area you are dealing with from which you are trying to pull souls out to God.But don't forget God will Strengthen..

God Bless:)

rackets of all types are there everywhere,...
There is only one way to reach these people,..confront them...
If they attack, and we escape and never dare to do it...then definitely that burden never came from God.
people always get afraid of circumstances because they will loose their dignity and fear of death.
Both are not Christian..

i felt the need to be daring and felt it Good when i Prayed a lot...
There is no place secure to Share Gospel except in a closed surrounding and in front of familiar faces
we all lack Faith in God that makes us stay away from Preaching Gospel even if there is a God Given burden(Calling)..

Good for you for wanting to help. You've received some great advice and I echo the don't go it alone and do some research to find out exactly what you are getting yourself into before you do anything.

In my extremely limited experience or that of my friends' in working with prostitutes there are a few things I can say; first off no little girl wakes up one morning thinking, I want to be a prostitute when i grow up. There is always another factor, usually financial, that keeps them in prostitution. It could be a pimp, some sort of bonded labor or debt payment arrangement, or the family needs money and this is a way to make money for my family. I'm living overseas now and recently heard a story that for one poor girl it was the promise of work for a $20 internet bill at the internet cafe that she became vulnerable to the promise of employment offered her by traffickers. The human trafficking thing is very real and yes usually starts with a promise of employment. Get someone in a foreign country where they have no right to be, don't know their way around or speak the language and they are very vulnerable. This sign hanging in a corner grocery store in Asia was my brush with it a few years ago:

PHTO0382.jpg

I also remember hearing a few years ago that many organized crime groups were turning to human trafficking because it was more profitable and less risky than dealing in weapons or illegal drugs.

One other thing to be aware of is that in order to keep themselves together a lot of prostitutes have to develop a very cold and proud demeanor. They may well give the impression that they are proud of the fact that they are working, providing for their families, or anything else they tell themselves to make life bearable, and they can't afford to accept your sympathy and pity. Also even if you manage to help a few get out, they will often head back to rescue someone they know and get ensnared again themselves.

The flip side of all this is that the smallest act of kindness or generosity can mean the world to someone in this situation. I had a friend (female) working in prostitute ministry who got valentine's flowers for the girls and they talked about that for months. So my best recommendations to you are to network with others who are fighting human trafficking and prostitution (an internet search should do the trick) and if you feel the need to do something immediate find someone to work with you (do not face a group of prostitutes who are under pressure to seduce you on your own) and maybe just start giving small non-intrusive gifts to remind these ladies that they are valuable.

Hope this helps. God bless you as you seek to bring his light into such a dark place.

thanks a lot for your replies, I'll pray for it , just thought of something: military is mandatory here in Switzerland, but instead of military service, I could do Civilian Service and help drug addicts, etc, anyway I'll think and pray about it

Oh you're in Switzerland. Prostitution there is legal so half the stuff said here probably doesn't even apply. You can still pray for them though. God bless.

Just because people may let fear override their desires has nothing to do with whether or not that desire came from God.

Never said there was, but some options are more dangerous than others. If you go out to a street, or even a mall, and witness you're more than likely going to be pretty safe. If you go into a bad part of town, and insert yourself into a violent drug fueled society and try to remove the money makes from controlling people that greatly increases your risk of having violence perpetrated against you.

a person goes through enough troubles in flesh in order to live in Holiness that God demands by His Grace..
But when desires of flesh are done and entertained and that too by putting others lives in dangers and also do all kind of barbaric things in the name of peace,we see UNO,UNICEF,WHO,etc..

Glad you have attained Good Sound Wisdom at this young age..
God Bless:)

if a person goes with Godly Guidance according to God's voice to Go and Speak! as He feels and God's words telling so ringing in His ears ,...no one will dare to touch that person.
Otherwise no one will go.
we don't see such such often because we live in times where Faith on God is fading away..

Your desire to reach out to these women is good, but finding the right way to do it is tricky. Please do some research. Also, if you know any godly people who work in law enforcement or as social workers, perhaps you could speak with them to get some guidance. It's great that you want to help these women, but if you don't do your research and be careful you could actually get THEM into more danger.

I have a very godly female friend who is a social worker and fights human trafficking/prostitution on a daily basis. She wants more than anything to see these women come to The Lord, but she can't just pick them up off the street and take them to church.

Pray, seek godly counsel, do plenty of research, and be careful.

There is a group of women in Vegas which does this sort of ministry; I forget what they are called.

Hi :)

I know that in some cities there are places these woman can go to to live at to get them off the streets. They take programs regarding violence also. The security is fairy high to protect these ladies from former customers or pimps. Google or check your local yellow pages too see if there is a program in your area, and if you feel safe share this info with these ladies.

God Bless You,
Shelly

Dial the police and report the crime. Prostitution spreads AIDS that "johns" take home to their wives. You can save innocent lives by working with the police to shut it down.

I do advocate jail ministries as well btw so your church can start a ministry at the local jail also if one isn't already ongoing there. Like other people have mentioned, it's a lot easier to work with people in a controlled environment like a local jail then to walk the streets interfering with Pimp Daddy's paycheck.

Let the police shut down the prostitution and then meet them where they are at in the local jail.

Two birds, one stone.

I walked through a bad part of town yesterday evenening around 8 o clock and I saw like 10 hookers on the side of the road, they're there everytime I walk by. I felt really bad for them and felt like inviting them to church or reading them Bible verses or something. Whats the best way to help?
