Okay..So I'm using a website to create my own country. It's a very Moralistic country.

My question is..should certain immoral things done by people be punished by law..?

For example: Fornication. So far in my country, it's Illegal - however, it isn't exactly Punishable by Law.

But Adultery for example, committing fornication while being Married is indeed punishable by Law in my country. Those who do so will face a large fine and depending on how bad it was, you may be sent to jail.

Jail / prison is also considered a mental rehabilitation for criminals. We don't just send them there to do work, and expect them to be perfectly normal once their time is up - we (Try to) help them out mentally to try our best to make sure they're mentally stable to try their best not commit severe crimes ever again.

But back to the law stuff, the reason why Fornication isn't punishable by law is because it doesn't severely physically or mentally harm anyone. It's bad and immoral spiritually, however, it doesn't harm anyone. It harms the individuals Spiritually, but that's Their choice - not the Government's choice.

You see, we even teach proper manners of marriage and relationships within high schools and career-educational schools (similar to college in RL..) So if individuals decide to fornicate regardless of what we teach them spiritually, that's Their responsibility and problem - not the Government's, as we tried our best to convince those to do right morally and spiritually.

Adultery harms the loving spouse who's married. It can severely harm the spouse mentally and possibly physically because they can become ill due to their mental pain. Therefore, it is punishable by law.

My country feels that moral matters are a personal responsibility. If those morals of one, two or a group of individuals severely injures or does wrong to anyone psychically, emotionally and mentally, Then the government and it's governmental authorities will step in and stop who and / or whatever's causing it.

..is that okay? Or wrong? Should immoral things be punishable by law, like how they used to be in the Old testament?

...honestly, in my heart...I feel that no one should be punished by Death, like they were in the Old testament Unless they're a huge threat to the country...So that isn't much of an option...

Should immoral things that literally do not do any physical, mental or emotional damage be punishable by law?

*if you have any questions about my "country", feel free to ask. However, if you do not agree with what I explain within answer - I am sorry, and Please do not attempt to start an harsh argument because it Will be ignored.

(Lost the editing time limit...)

Also, even couples who aren't married will still go by these laws. If a girlfriend / boyfriend "cheats" on their mate, then they can also be punished by law - however, it will not be as severe of a punishment if they did not exactly commit fornication. If the "cheater" did commit fornication even while being in a relationship that isn't exactly marriage, they will face a severe punishment, but it will not be as severe since the couple wasn't married.

(We use very powerful and accurate polygraph tests. Everyone can "prove" that they're in a relationship with someone - whether married or dating. I can get more into the laws and such..but it'll take so much explaining..)

Is this country in the same universe as we are in? In other words, is the same God who is God for real, also God in the universe where your country is?

Does God (in your universe) agree with these laws? Would they be His laws?

If not, would there be problems in the country due to this discrepancy? For example, if God opposes fornication, and the law does not, would people cut off from His blessings by fornication create other problems in the country? I mean, A and B fornicate, but it is legal. A has formerly been a lawful person, but that has been because of God's grace. The sin cuts off some grace, and A now begins to break other laws. Can this happen in your universe, and if so, how is the country set up to deal with it?

A concrete example needs more assumptions, but suppose A and B begin fornicating at B's susggestion, and enjoy it, and A decides to begin a career of rape. C is severely injured or even killed being raped by A (I assume murder is against the law, also). A is now in prison. How does this society deal with A's rehabilitation, since A did not fall into lawbreaking by doing anything illegal originally?

...I love it when you answer my threads..lol..!

That's very true..Guess I gotta set some new grounds..I will make Fornication punishable by law..thing is, it'll be hard to..."catch" someone doing so..! Someone loyal would have to report the two..or possibly more..And maybe they'll earn an reward for that..or something...?

Hmm..
I mean everything else involving sexual sin is illegal - pornography, certain clubs and brothels are illegal and can not / will not be created within the country.

But since you've explained all of that...I have a new situation..
I've made it clear that people who "worship" Satan or people who have a "religion" that involves vodou (voodoo) can not live in the country..

You see..In my country (and this is going to sound shocking), Atheists and those who have other "religions" (except the ones I've just mentioned) can live in the country.
My first thought for this is because I believe that everyone (except those who "worship" Satan or people who have a "religion" that involves vodou) should have a Decent and moral place to live. Also, I feel that with enough care and if those people experience how decent it is to live in such a country, that maybe they'll change in faith and become a christian..

So..I'm wondering if That's okay now or not....

You need to look for potential inconsistencies. Assuming the same God (I think we are) would practice of atheism cause other problems. For example, if I do not trust God (because there is none), would I be more prone to steal? If I do not believe that my neighbot is sacred to God, might I be more prone to kill him, or to create an environment of hostility? What lega requirements will you have that encourage behavior that might change an atheist?

Moses was 80, trained in Pharaoh's palace, and it took him and God 6 weeks to get this all hammered out. It's not easy.

Well the thing is, once one commits so much crime, they're automatically ejected back to the country from which they've came from (my country is considered an "escape" country..So as of now, most people come from other countries. Of course, if a person is born here, they face different consequences such as jail or prison of course).

So once we realize that they basically refuse to become christian by committing senseless crimes and once we realize that our help within jail / prison isn't working properly, they get ejected back to their original country and face their way of consequences for the most recent crime they've committed within my country. If the country decides to refuse them, they'll just have to remain in my country's prison for quite a while.

We're (I'm..) not just allowing those with other faiths or no faith at all just to live here, we're trying to help them and convert them into true faith. Automatically when documents and such are signed to live within the country, it is explained thoroughly that it's indeed a Christian and moral based country. The person of some other faith or no faith shows that they may possibly have some sort of dignity to live with moral others and may possibly want to change faith...at least I would assume so..idk..lol.

Sounds like exactly the opposite of American immigration policy. What do the other countries think of you?
