The christian life as i was told by a person i respect very much is the choice to become a healing factor or hurting factor to the world. Is your life helping or hurting?
Sin in its true definition means "to miss the mark"
Sin seems less insidious and important if you think of it in its true definition... more of a stumbling block than a mistake, for nothing can shake Gods love for you, sin shakes your love for God and that is why it is not healthy.

For the wages of sin is death - Romans 6:23

These desires give birth to sinful actions. And when sin is allowed to grow, it gives birth to death. - James 1:15

"but you must not eat from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, for when you eat of it you will surely die." - Genesis 2:17 (that was the first sin)

Of course, and a good point at that!!
Of course the wage of sin is DEATH and that is The death... It is a literal statement
sin destroys us because it cuts us off from God.. God is the giver of life and when we turn our backs on God when we sin the sin destroys us slowly.... it is not a punishment from God...

When we sin we take the steering wheel out of Gods hands and we start driving it ourselves, that, is bad, reallly bad. Yes He is always there and will receive us like the prodigal son, but sin does separate us from God. I mean we cant keep mocking him by sinning over and over and over intentionally.

Isaiah 59:1 Listen! The LORD is not too weak to save you, and he is not becoming deaf. He can hear you when you call. Isaiah 59:2 But there is a problem--your sins have cut you off from God. Because of your sin, he has turned away and will not listen anymore.
Jeremiah 5:25 Your iniquities have turned away these things, and your sins have withholden good things from you.
Micah 3:4 Then shall they cry unto the Lord, but he will not hear them: he will even hide his face from them at that time, as they have behaved themselves ill in their doings.
God's holiness cannot tolerate sin, and it offends Him when we sin and it separates us from Him

"Your iniquities have separated you from your God" Isa. 59:1-2.

The God of heaven is "of purer eyes than to behold evil," and cannot "look on iniquity." Habakkuk 1:13.

It is interesting to me that the word "Holy" means "different" or "set aside"
God is Holy, means God is different from everything..
God loves us infinantely, and he is closer to a human that their own juggular vein, as the Holy Fathers say..
God never has the reins in our life.. God always respects our decisions totally and completely, but when we choose to be sinful, God suffers silently with us, ever awaiting our conversion to the path of light and repentance
Our Christian faith takes on new deminsions when we explore the definition of the words usually taken for granted..
