Hi guys, I'd firstly like to say I'm so greatful to have come accross this site and forums!!

I'm currently struggling in my walk with Christ and everyday it just criples me inside. I grew up in a Christian home, like many, going to church every Sunday with my family, but Salvation was never a personal decision I made. I decided to become a Christian in 2009 after a life of much sin, even so I've been living a life of compromise and being a lukewarm Christian. I still continued living in fornication among other things. I'm at a point where I want to leave it all and puruse a life of purity and the righteousness of God.

What makes it harder for me personally is not having Christian friends, but my old friends that I used to drink and party with. Sometimes it seems like the worldy life was more fun, I know its not supposed to be like that, I'll be at my place as bored as ever because of trying to avoid partying and all, then find myself so tempted to go out with them because I'm just so bored!

Can you guys please advise me on how to fight that? I'm no longer in a relationship, because I'm trying to live a life that pleases God... Will it have any meaning for me to now step back and say I want to refrain from sex until I get married?
Wow!!!! Sister WOW!!!!! I recieve you and your desire
Christ before Christ went the cross had many things to say llike what you are now seeking
Matthew 5:6Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, For they shall be filled.

You Sister just do not give up in seeking what Christ has said here prior to the cross you shall be filled, do you beleive him? I do.
the next thing to look at how or ask is how can this be done?
Remmeber please that we are still before the cross.
Christ anihilated, showed everyone while he was here on earth our inability to be saved by any works we do before the cross
Matthew 5:30And if your right hand causes you to sin, cut it off and cast it from you; for it is more profitable for you that one of your members perish, than for your whole body to be cast into hell.
Matthew 18:8
“If your hand or foot causes you to sin, cut it off and cast it from you. It is better for you to enter into life lame or maimed, rather than having two hands or two feet, to be cast into the everlasting fire.
Mark 9:43If your hand causes you to sin, cut it off. It is better for you to enter into life maimed, rather than having two hands, to go to hell, into the fire that shall never be quenched—
Mark 9:45
And if your foot causes you to sin, cut it off. It is better for you to enter life lame, rather than having two feet, to be cast into hell, into the fire that shall never be quenched—

Getting the picture yet that it is "impossible" for man to enter heaven by any of his own works
[h=3]Matthew 19:25-26[/h]New King James Version (NKJV)

[SUP]25 [/SUP]When His disciples heard it, they were greatly astonished, saying, “Who then can be saved?”

[SUP]26 [/SUP]But Jesus looked at them and said to them, “With men this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.”

So then since it is impossible for man to do what is completely right and can't enter into heaven this way at all by his own works. so please be careful, becasue if one is trying to stop sinful behavior that is when they continue in it, by trying not to

Galatians 6:8
For he who sows to his flesh will of the flesh reap corruption, but he who sows to the Spirit will of the Spirit reap everlasting life

you see as long as you are thinking about quittinig this or that you are just fueling your minds emotions to reap that behavior that you are trying not to do

Romans 7:13 -
[h=3]Law Cannot Save from Sin[/h][SUP]13 [/SUP]Has then what is good become death to me? Certainly not! But sin, that it might appear sin, was producing death in me through what is good, so that sin through the commandment might become exceedingly sinful. [SUP]14 [/SUP]For we know that the law is spiritual, but I am carnal, sold under sin. [SUP]15 [/SUP]For what I am doing, I do not understand. For what I will to do, that I do not practice; but what I hate, that I do. [SUP]16 [/SUP]If, then, I do what I will not to do, I agree with the law that it is good. [SUP]17 [/SUP]But now, it is no longer I who do it, but sin that dwells in me. [SUP]18 [/SUP]For I know that in me (that is, in my flesh) nothing good dwells; for to will is present with me, but how to perform what is good I do not find. [SUP]19 [/SUP]For the good that I will to do, I do not do; but the evil I will not to do, that I practice. [SUP]20 [/SUP]Now if I do what I will not to do, it is no longer I who do it, but sin that dwells in me.
[SUP]21 [/SUP]I find then a law, that evil is present with me, the one who wills to do good. [SUP]22 [/SUP]For I delight in the law of God according to the inward man. [SUP]23 [/SUP]But I see another law in my members, warring against the law of my mind, and bringing me into captivity to the law of sin which is in my members. [SUP]24 [/SUP]O wretched man that I am! Who will deliver me from this body of death? [SUP]25 [/SUP]I thank God—through Jesus Christ our Lord!
So then, with the mind I myself serve the law of God, but with the flesh the law of sin.
Sister there is a big differance in the way one serves and the only way to serve in truth is by the Spirit of God and God gives this to you to serve God by and at the resurrection of Christ back at the cross where as he had said that what is impossible for man is now possible by God. But before this could be Christ had to go to the cross and die first for us to kill the sin nature in our flesh, the Law of sin and death. Then after the third day rise again in order to give us new life. Now many are taught that they need to go out and be righteous as he is righteous, perfect and none of us can attain this. Shown to you in Romans 7
you see Sister first by belief die to self and this world with Christ at the cross and ask God to raise you to new life in God's Spirit by the resurrection, and learn to serve by Spirit and truth from the hidden person in your new Heart
See truth that god today can only be worshipped in Spirit and truth

  1. John 4:23
But the hour is coming, and now is, when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth; for the Father is seeking such to worship Him.
John 4:22-24 (in Context) John 4 (Whole Chapter) Other Translations
  2. John 4:24God is Spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth.”
John 4:23-25 (in Context) John 4 (Whole Chapter) Other Translations
  3. John 14:17the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it neither sees Him nor knows Him; but you know Him, for He dwells with you and will be in you.
John 14:16-18 (in Context) John 14 (Whole Chapter) Other Translations
  4. John 16:13However, when He, the Spirit of truth, has come, He will guide you into all truth; for He will not speak on His own authority, but whatever He hears He will speak; and He will tell you things to come.

Now your focus is on thanking God and praising God, which as long as it is there, there is no room for sin to sneak in, or any pride or boastfullness
Now do not think that your old dead self will not try to rise up from the grave it will try, but Sister from here it is up to God and you to discern all error from truth and you will be set completely free
Now if: and could be, we are very fortunate to have:
1 John 2:1My little children, these things I write to you, so that you may not sin. And if anyone sins, we have an Advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous.

There are many a scriptures that point and appear as if you are to work out your own salvation
Philippians 2:12[ Light Bearers ] Therefore, my beloved, as you have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling

Which decieves one to work at their salvation with fear and trembling and most do not see the next verse
Philippians 2:13for it is God who works in you both to will and to do for His good pleasure.

Trust God to show you truth from error and you will not fulfill the lusts of the flesh
The battle today Sister is between Flesh old self and others flesh getting in the way and the Spirit of God
So sister learn from God what is walking in the Spirit of God
[h=3]Galatians 5:16-26[/h]New King James Version (NKJV)

[h=3]Walking in the Spirit[/h][SUP]16 [/SUP]I say then: Walk in the Spirit, and you shall not fulfill the lust of the flesh. [SUP]17 [/SUP]For the flesh lusts against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh; and these are contrary to one another, so that you do not do the things that you wish. [SUP]18 [/SUP]But if you are led by the Spirit, you are not under the law.
[SUP]19 [/SUP]Now the works of the flesh are evident, which are: adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lewdness, [SUP]20 [/SUP]idolatry, sorcery, hatred, contentions, jealousies, outbursts of wrath, selfish ambitions, dissensions, heresies, [SUP]21 [/SUP]envy, murders, drunkenness, revelries, and the like; of which I tell you beforehand, just as I also told you in time past, that those who practice such things will not inherit the kingdom of God.
[SUP]22 [/SUP]But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, [SUP]23 [/SUP]gentleness, self-control. Against such there is no law. [SUP]24 [/SUP]And those who are Christ’s have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires. [SUP]25 [/SUP]If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit. [SUP]26 [/SUP]Let us not become conceited, provoking one another, envying one another.

I understand all to well of what your going through. The revelation of Grace is was set me free. I was able to have a true relationship with God instead of just being religious. Don't focus so much on sin and what not to do (that will only cause you to sin more). Focus on Jesus and allowing the Holy spirit to lead and guide you into all truths. When you sin, your no further away from God. God will never leave you nor forsake you (that you can guarantee). Look Joseph Prince up, I believe you will benefit from his teachings.

First of all its suppose to be like that, anyone turning from a life of sin into God's kingdom will face serious challenges because satan himself knows that if he looses u,u'll oneday come back to wreck havok(2 tim 3:12).If u dont face these challenges u've never made any progress, but the issue is u must dissociate urself from those friends or they will drag u back(2 Cor 6:14-17).Secondly hold on,whenever u persevere under trails....God comes closer to u.I was in the similar situation...similar in many was....but what helped me is me dissociating 4rm those old friends(completely). We'll chat more....hit me up any time....lol.

Great post. Stay strong. I'm 29 now. I spent most of the last 8 or 9 years living how you described, trying to fit with the world... One thing to know about "friends". If you have to be drunk, high or hooking-up every time you hang out with them, they're not your friends. They're using you to feel less alone in their foolishness.

James 4:4
[SUP]4 [/SUP]Ye adulterers and adulteresses, know ye not that the friendship of the world is enmity with God? whosoever therefore will be a friend of the world is the enemy of God.

The world will make fun of you, condemn and criticism you when you tell them you believe in Jesus Christ and objective truth. If you are not being criticized and mocked by the world, it is because you fit in with the world. If you choose fit in with the world, then you choose to not fit in with Christ

I try to think of it like this: Temporary pleasures lead to life-long pain, but the temporary pain of standing for the truth in the face of condemnation will lead you to life-long peace.
