Feeling familiar with God is a trap.
God is beyond time and all powerful, he was a man and that allows us to have a personal relationship with him, but that does not mean that Jesus Christ is our "buddy"
Jesus Christ is our salvation, not our pal
He is closer to a person than his own jugular vein, but that doesn't mean we have some kind of leverage on him. We cannot be the boss in meeting God, God will not meet a person on the person's terms, but on his own.
This world is God's, he lets us do as we will because he knows that our love has to be voluntary to be real, he lets us sin because he respects us without end, but not seeing God as GOD but as a pal, a buddy, someone who makes us feel good about ourselves, is wrong.
God is our King, our Salvation, the Light of the World.

I do agree on that. He is The Almighty, the beginning and end, and he deserves all the respect we can give. However, it doesn't mean that we cannot relate to him like a friend. Remember, he allowed Himself (The God of all creation) to be like us (a mere human) and walked with us through Jesus Christ. Meaning, he wanted us to let him know that he can be someone whom you can trust that could understand you. He knows your struggle as a human for He was once a human too. However, you don't expect Him to be someone who should always please you, in fact, that's not how you define friendship at all. A friend is someone who will do what's right and best for you even if sometimes it would hurt your feelings along the way. Friendship centers on love and God is love. Jesus not only offered himself to be your friend but moreover to be your family ("Whoever does God's will is my brother and sister and mother." -Mark 3:35).

I just wanted to add some insight. I do appreciate how you lift up the Lord. Some people abused their relationship with the Lord especially when things doesn't go their way. They tell stuff like they are being ignored and not loved by Him wherein in fact there is a good reason why He didn't granted what they wanted. Maybe He's teaching a valuable lesson or maybe it's not yet the right time or maybe it's not what's best for them. If only they just stop talking and also learn to listen.

Having a relationship with the Lord is unique. Like husband and wife, brothers and sisters, Father/Mother and Sons/Daughters but even more than that. I hope you continue to grow in your relationship with the Lord my dear friend. God Bless.
