i would disagree with many people here, its not just about lyrics but musical content as well, because music produced by guitars and beats and what not has a message of its own that we may not even notice, you can take a song with heavy metal riffs and put christian lyrics in it and bam its considered christian, but let me tell you that this is not true at all. Lyrics themselves can either be euphonic or with cacophony, and it doesn't matter how much the lyrics stand out, the music itself is important part of worship and it speaks, i know this for a fact because i used to listen to heavy metal and graphic rap and such, and comparing it to what i would say is more true christian worship is like trying to compare an orange painted red with an apple. The insides are still different and let me tell you that heavy metal music evokes negative connotations, rock and roll too, considering the original spirit of it was rebelliousness and fleshly things. Another thing is the intent too, because not everyone out there does something good for good purposes, but thats left to Jesus, so you gotta be very careful with this because i think electric guitars and drums for sure can be used to produce wonderful worship but at the same time they got a potential for negativity.

Music speaks, look at the its lyrics, classical music all kinds of music, the instruments speak.

I would say the proof is in the pudding, make a sound judgement by what kind of fruit the music has produced, I think people could make similar judgements regarding Heroin and methadone, Heroin is the real thing, methadone is simply a cheap imitation, any methadone user will tell you that methadone is simply a temporary fix, and they will return to heroin as soon as they got the cash..........sometimes I think Christian Rock is alot like methadone

I'm not against Christian rock but I think at some point there needs to be a line drawn. My cousin was showing me a Christian rock video last night and it just didn't set well with me. I couldn't help but get the impression that they were trying too hard to appeal to unbelievers as well....you know, the whole "Christians can be cool too" thing. It was a very dark and Gothic video, and I was thinking that if an unbeliever sees this they will probably think..."Christians are just as unhappy, tormented, and depressed as us. So why bother becoming one?". I think we are supposed to set an example. We are supposed to present something that they dont have. I cant recall Jesus ever imitating heathens in order to win heathens over, so why should we?

Like I said, I'm not against Christian rock, but I think a line has to be drawn somewhere.
