When we as people take the time to be in a relationship, then we too need to take the time to learn that communication is key in any relationship. Directness always works for me, kind never harsh, and straight to the point. This way there is no room for miss understandings to happen, and we both know what to say or do according to what the other person shares.
Perhaps he's feeling crowded, maybe fenced in. We have a habit of smothering a relationship when we think it's a good one.
He could also be testing you, to see if you'll check in with him, to see how much you care, to take advantage of you. It's a common ploy of a player to have a whole string & have fun with the ones who respond.
He could also be losing interest.
No matter what, he needs to be gently confronted without raising his hopes, to see his true nature. Stay in the neutral zone.
Last, & most important, seek God first. This avoidance could be a blessing in disguise.

Hello Gad22; yeah just as woka, ritter, and spudlove already pointed out, you will need to get in contact with him and talk with him to see what is going on. Communication is important and is an essential in all relationships. I do need to let you know though that dating is not biblical. Bethrothment is, but not dating.
