Ok, well my problem has always been the same, I struggle sometimes to belive that there really is a god, sure I WANT there to be one but I know that the great Christians out there belive even through the hard times, myself and my family have been going through a torrid time but gradually i feel the dark clouds are lifting and in the very distance are beautiful blue skies but it is taking too long to get there, I have days where I am a strong beliver but other days I just get convinced by others that there just cant possibly be a god, I want these negative thoughts to stop really badly, i can guarentee the next day though i belive again I cannot carry on like this much longer, it doesnt make me a good christian at all, if any of you guys out there feel the same and are going through a bad patch please please i beg you to help me and perhaps together we can overcome our greatest fear and become even better chrisitans!
God Bless

Keeping a record of the reasons you believe might help. One probably won't come up with or remember all that you've heard, but it will create a starting point.
What is and why is something a negative thought?

I not exactly rooting for the home team here, but I do know that a turmoil to resolve and want to seek answers isn't something the fellow forumers will snub. A God should know our limits and understand this, and allegedly an answer will be reached before we peg it.

Jonno ...... the very fact that you've expressed these feelings and fears show that your heart is where it needs to be. All of us have gone through periods where we've questioned our own faith. This is not something that you alone are experiencing. Consider that even the apostle Thomas had many doubts .....and here was a man that lived and talked with Jesus Himself. This past year has been a difficult one for me as well but I always gently remind myself that this time too will pass. God has not forsaken you and He promised that He never will. He understands our struggles and patiently nudges us in love to place our worries and fears into His capable hands. If faith were not an ongoing process, it would never be in need of growth. Be still and know that He is God :)

jonno, you know there is evil in the world. You could see it is clearly growing. Some people die, thinking they got away with the evil they did. The sad things is, NO ONE GETS AWAY WITH ANYTHING.

You can clearly see the evidence of God in his creation, it is all revelation of him. Even when people don't seek God they show naturally his law written on their hearts, which is why there are many countries who have laws not to kill, steal... so forth.

But God sees more, he sees the heart that leads to these things, and that is his standard of perfection. ''Purify your hearts ye wicked.'' The reason we find it hard to understand God is because we were born in sin, and shaped in iniquity. We have been learning the ways of Satan all our lives, and have not yet seen a better way.

Jesus came to SHOW US the better way, which was in the beginning, when there wasn't all of this mess. He came to restore the better way.

What do you think, if you were to offer the services men charge for, for free, wouldn't it put them out of business, wouldn't they try to pay you to charge a fee? Wouldn't they even kill you? When you start messing with the money of the rich, then you will clearly see what the root of evil is.

I wish I could offer the services of all the world, and be so bold as to charge nothing. But this is exactly what Jesus did. AMEN! It is a fight against evil really, but Jesus is the Superhero

May Jesus bless you.

I asked Jesus to make me hate sin, to see why he hates it so much. Believe me when you speak against sin, you risk your life.

Thanks guys for ur thoughts, really kind of you, I agree with you all, I only doubt now and then which in a way is worse as one doesnt know exactly where they stand however I know that God's power of love is far greater than Satan is and that with his love there is only one true winner

II went through the same thing you describe a few times. God would reveal himself to me through circumstances, through my changing heart, through my optimism.. But then I'd have moments where I'd doubt that God is helping me because my prayers weren't answered quick enough or I was feeling nadly on a certain day.. Then I'd start doubting that God is real. That's what the devil wants. You have to make the decision to pray your way out of your disbelif and BELIEVE in His faithfulness on the days when you can't see your way out of adversities. Read His Word, little by little, and your doubts wi
L diminish!

The more I learn about God, The bible, Apologetics, Theology, God, The bible... etc etc... the easier it becomes. Early on, it wasn't as easy. The more I learn though, the more I come to terms with the reality of God.

As Paul, the apostle, said in 1 Timothy 6:12:
"Fight the good fight of the faith!"

and, hey,
romans 5:3-4
"...we rejoice in our sufferings, knowing that suffering produces endurance, and endurance produces character, and character produces hope."
James 1:2-4

Count it all joy, my brothers, when you meet trials of various kinds, for you know that the testing of your faith produces steadfastness. And let steadfastness have its full effect, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking in nothing.
Read the Bible.

in addition, you might find some more words of encouragement here.

We have to be refined through fire.. May be u r inside the oven now.. but When u come out u will be a master piece.. :) God never leaves ur site. Sometimes I think sad moments bring me more close to God ( which isnt a good thing cus we should always go to God, In happy or sad moments for directions) since I cant seem to rationally solve the problem.. Only God can do miracles.. Im pretty sure that God will do a big miracle in ur life.. have faith mate!! :)

its honestly really hard to believe sometimes. God didn't make it easy for us. if he did, there wouldn't be anything special about believing. its takes alot of faith to believe in something that at first glance seems imaginary.

Hey Jonnoboy, I will be honest with you. It is easy to be doubtful of your faith if your faith is only that. Faith is a great thing, and it is very important, but the thing is that there should be nothing blind about faith. Look into your faith, why you believe it, where it all originated, look into history and science. Find things that back it up. Trust me, if you do some serious searching, you will find that everything points back to God. But you have to keep your mind open to anything. If you got into your search thinking that any evidence you find won't change your mind, then you will miss out on some important proofs as to why God exists.
