The only thing that determines if you are saved is if you let Jesus Christ into your heart... But the gospel does say that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit, and that you are not your own, that you were bought with a price, so to only feel that something glorifies God and going only on that feeling is not to take into consideration what God says about it, or even being ignorant about it.. we as Christians have to listen to God and about everything we do, if we like something or want to do something we have to consider letting God in on it, this is very important when we want to honor God in EVERY aspect of our life!

its says that we are not our own and we have to honor God with our bodies, so doesn't that mean that we have to take every precaution to make sure that our bodies honor God, that means that before we do something to our bodies such as getting something such as a tattoo, we have to make sure that it doesnt dishonor God, even if its not written somewhere in the Bible that it is a sin to get a tattoo, we have to let God in on it, and if God doesnt want you to get it then wouldnt you be sinning if you didnt listen to God.
I like the idea of her Jesus saves tattoo, it's a proclamation of faith, and hopefully others will ask about it,which is a chance to be a witness

For a few months I’ve been watching a lot of young adults Christians that all the time they are talking about obeying God but they are getting tattoos in all their bodies. It just dont make sense to me, so if someone understand please explain to me
I believe a lot of Christians go by context in terms of the Old Testament. At the time that this law was written, tattoos had literally NOTHING to do with art and everything to do with Pagan worship. You didn't get tattoos of Tweety Bird because it was ironic. You got various symbols/scars to honor gods/goddesses and whatnot.

INB4 "Your body is a temple" <The whole sermon was about sexual immorality and was not talking about tattoos

These days, when grandmothers get the names and dates of birth of their grandchildren tattooed, together with praying hands and so forth, it's probably a rather different context.

Some Christians like to get Bible references done in tattoos, or a Christian fish symbol, <><, etc., for use in witness.

I have 6 tattoos. A cross on my wrist, a daisy with 3 ladybugs on one ankle, a puzzle piece on my other ankle, a star on my foot, the words from Psalm 46:5 on my other foot and a breast cancer ribbon with angel wings on my back. They are all very small and easily covered if a job didn't allow tattoos to be shown. I think that my tattoos are a form of expression and I love them. I know that I am saved by the grace of God, and the fact that I have tattoos doesn't change that at all. If people don't like tattoos, then they don't have to get them. God loves all of me, even my beautiful tattoos. :)

So you have Psalm 46.5 tattooed: 'God is in the midst of her; she shall not be moved; God shall help her, and that right early'.

So have you had opportunities to talk to lots of people about your Scripture tattoo? :)

Cairparavel: I guess you never considered ink, anyway (faith based or not)...?
I have 2 tattoos, btw. I was just commenting on the quote about the purpose of tattoos was to "aquire their life essence" which I never heard of, but I noticed people honor passed loved ones although i'm pretty sure most of them are not trying to sap their (passed loved ones') spiritually energy in an occultic sort of way.

It says "God is within her she will not fall" and I have had some opportunities to talk, but it is hidden a lot of the time because I live in a place with a lot of snow, so I can't wear flip flops a lot. :)

I personally love tattoos. I design so I surrounded by ppl w ink. All.of them have told me there's a story behind their tats. I believe that is nice bc is meaningful I personally don't have any on me bc I don't dare to heheh ...
SandraM:

Well, a lot of people have it done, and you're probably right that a high proportion of artistic people do it as well. A lot of Christians find it a way of communicating their personal testimony.

You 'don't dare to'; I guess for you, pain is an issue, right?

2. is of a snake coming out of fire
3. is of my ship when I was in the U.S. Navy with a missile

I've noticed tattoos becoming as some 'trend' with people around my age and it's like they have to show them off... It get annoying after a while. I don't see THAT big of a deal with them, though I'll admit that I've wanted 'one' for the sake of the design I'd like it as... This was even before I saw this becoming a trend.

I'm surprised at many of the responses here. I've always thought Christians saw tattoos as sinful.

PS: So would your preferred design be more 'Gothic' and likely black only? or multicolored?

Tattoos are such a controversial topic among Christians and Leviticus 19:28 is almost always quoted. We have to remember that the book of Leviticus was mostly meant for Israel because God wanted them to be set apart completely. Now, if you go through Leviticus and read the rest of the rules listed there and you are AGAINST tattoos/inking of the skin then ask yourself this question: "do I follow these other rules listed here too?"

If you are against tattoos/inking then good for you but don't judge others because of their choices. I know ex drug addicts/gang members covered in ugly ink etc from the past but they're on fire for Jesus

I myself have tattoos and believe that whatever you mark on your skin will be there for the rest of your life and it's a testimony of sorts as to who you are in Christ, it's between you and God. Be wise!

Are any of your tattoos faith based in design? Some Christians find them to be effective conversation starters in witness.

Yes I have scripture reference on my forearm and it is great when people do see it and ask questions, even if it's a negative reaction like sneering hey that's fine too as long as they've seen it and feel something inside. After all, the Bible is offensive to non believers lol

Well, exactly: some will respond positively, and others negatively, but God can still use it to convict them.

So which is the Scripture ref. that you had tattooed on your arm? did it take long under the needle?

Blessings.

Well, I guess among all the design choices that you could have gotten needled, the ones you chose to be injected with were pretty good, all things considered...
