Show me an example where Joel says that God will make you rich and I will admit I was wrong. People say that is what he's preaching but he is not. Granted, he probably has a big house and drives a nice car, but David was a king, does that make David a sheister?? No, of course not. Was the proverbs 31 woman not a godly woman because she dressed in fine clothes and surrounded herself with expensive things?? No, she was still a very godly woman. If anyone can show me where Joel actually says that worshipping God will make you rich and not just BLESS you when you need it, then I will stop defending him. Until then, I see nothing wrong with his preaching.

"God wants to increase you financially by giving you promotions, fresh ideas, and creativity."

That's from the beginning of "Your Best Life Now", one of his writings.

Yes, and that is not saying it will make a person rich. Someone who needs financial increase is who the book is for.

This is exactly what I mean by people twisting his words around.

Is the word most and an adjective describe the amount of fame, or describing the number of famous pastors?

I ask because, there are many more "famous" pastors, (albeit just as equally imfamous), are are not a "buncha fakers".
Woops, never saw this post. >.<

But seems like, a lot of televangelists do nothing but just put on a show. I haven't seen many...but...the way a lot of them just...ACT in front of the camera, bringing the attention to them. It's like...."Just preach what ya need to and stop bringing attention to yourself!" because seriously, they didn't just take up a small portion of the stage, they took up EVERY. Square. Inch. And sometimes the occasional yelling at the audience. For the life of me I could not tell you which televangelists I've seen, but all I know is, there's a problem with a number of them. I believe there are genuine televangelists out there...there just not as numerous. I mean, I might not watch enough televangelists, but that's my view on them.

You didn't mention televangelists. You said "most famous preachers".

Most famous pastors out there = buncha fakers.
That's my concern. I can list famous (well known) preachers who are (and others who were in ages bygone)far more biblical in what they preach than the majority of "churches" across America. By saying I can list, I'm not just talking about one or two, I mean a list.

As far as televangelists go, don't bother with any of them.

Maybe not in the most direct way, and letting that slide it's still prosperity gospel.

If that's what ya' like, then I guess have at it.

Me, I think Shai Linne put it quite well.

Joel Osteen is a pastorized version of Dr. Phil.

If he is the only means in which his congregation is hearing the "gospel", I'd say 16,000-40,000 people have no chance of getting into heaven. I'm not even including the many people he reaches through media.
I couldn't have said it better!!! Amen brother.

Ugh, another "prosperity" preacher. He never incorporates Jesus in his ministry. It's basically, "you can have it all, just wish for it". Kind of like the "Law of Attraction" - think about what you want and it will come to you. I am not into these "preachers".

One of my friends sent out a mass text from one of Joel osteen's tweets or facebook something or the other.

It said, ''It's not enough to believe it, but you have to speak it out and it will be yours.''

Peter warned us of false prophets.

But the prophets of the “last time” (1 John 2:18) will perform great wonders (Matthew 24:24) and can “seduce . . . even the elect” (Mark 13:22).

Here’s the problem: They come from among Christians! Peter warns us in 2 Peter 2:1-3 in five ways:

• They come from a “Christian” background.
• They deny the biblical Lord Jesus in some way.
• They will become very popular, especially with emotionally motivated people.
• They will degrade doctrines of the Bible.
• They will stimulate greed to attract followers.

We are warned to test every one of them, and when they do not abide in the doctrine of Christ, we are to reject their teaching and not have any fellowship with them (2 John 9
-11). They are dangerous (Matthew 7:15)!

The airwaves are full of these type of people. It is in reality all about " Them" and how much you can send to their "Ministry". Instead of being Shepherds they are Sheep Dealers." Here, Sheepie, sheepie"

He's a false teacher. Check out the book Christianity In Crisis by Hank Hanegraaff. Osteen is a Word of Faith teacher. His teachings are all about creating your own life and reality through positive thinking, and throws a scripture in there to 'christianize' it.
Also, no forgetting the Larry King episode where he refused to say Christ is the only way to God and heaven. That alone should send people running. Its amazing how people follow heretical teachers just because the call themselves pastors or christians. The bible warns us of false teachers and false gospels, yet so many Christians are afraid to 'judge' a preachers messages. So the bible must be wrong if all these non-biblical teachings are ok long as they call themselves a Christian.
Who are we to judge him? If you actually listen to his messages he does talk about the good the bad and the ugly. I personally think he is just wonderful and it is very important that we are encouraged by reading God's word. Why would we read the bible if we are not uplifted every time we read his word and his promises on life. Someone told me a while ago if we get upset with a leader, it meant that we need to correct something in our walk. JUDGE NOT LEST YOU WILL BE JUDGED! Matthew 7:1
