Re: Why is the "Jezebel spirit" concept mostly in Charismatic, Pentecostal, WOF circl

I have wondered this myself about why we (charismatics) have this concept of the JS. It has never made sense to me. I mean, we have allowed women to be prophets and women to be pastors/teachers, in direct violation of scripture. Then we ignore Rev. 2:20. The Lord clearly says that this particular group has let a woman, Jezebel, be a prophetess and teacher and couple other things I don't remember right off. He has this against them.

If there is such a fuss over this JS, fix it by not allowing women leadership. However, that won't happen because the so called leaders really don't see that as a problem. I think the other denominations don't have this concept of a JS because they have not allowed it to happen. Call it what you want, but it is a very real problem in our Pentecostal churches.

I have written several letters challenging Pentecostal denominations to reform their doctrine on this and other things. Other ministers have as well. Sad to say, I don't see reform coming any time soon.

"why the "Jezebel spirit" concept is [spoken of and defined]mostly in Charismatic, Pentecostal, and Word of Faith circles"

Because traditional churches (Catholic, Lutheran, Presbyterian, Methodist and the like) do not address or deal with the spiritual realm on any level. They are ignorant of it because they do not (for the most part) read the Word of God, let alone study it. Nor do they address spirits of pride, fear, religion, rebellion, rejection, or any of their
co-harts. "Ignorance is bliss" is an unspoken part of their doctrine; what they don't know (they think) can't hurt them.

actually if you studied more than paperback theology you would understand what you call
the spirit realm is not. the word spirit is used of a mindset or disposition of a man...not to be mistaken as a demon.
which you are making it out to be. Ignorance is what? Yes it can refer to a demon only when its meaning is a demon
or spirit. Go study then reload. No Jezebel spirit...unless your talking a disposition like Jezebel

The Jezebel spirit is popular teaching in mixed groups divided about women in authority.
Jezebel mostly affects women but not exclusively. Men fall prey to this controlling, manipulating spirit as well.

Right, we all know you are the want to be the final arbiter, final authority on what is and what is not, according to your own opinion. All others you castigate, demean and ridicule.

the word spirit is used of a mindset or disposition of a man...not to be mistaken as a demon.
Right, you alone get to decide what is true and what is false.

More insults...as if those who do not agree with you are more ignorant or less intelligent.

Again, you dictate to others what to believe and define the terms of an argument according to your own rules.

I wish you were more generous and kind with your opinions and statements, but you are what you prove yourself to be.

Re: Why is the "Jezebel spirit" concept mostly in Charismatic, Pentecostal, WOF circl

It's always going to be a topic looked at more closely in circles that still believe in gifts of the spirit and/or demonic possession I think. Your never going to see it mentioned in a cessationist type church.....unless it's about all that false doctrine them pentecostals/charismatics are teaching type discussion.
Some cessationists believe demons have "ceased" (no longer in existence). So you might be right about that.

Uhhh those are the only ones I hear talking about it so much.

Do an internet search, and then see which movements are behind the discussion.
You'll find MOST are from those groups.

I will do that and get back to you on that.

Re: Why is the "Jezebel spirit" concept mostly in Charismatic, Pentecostal, WOF circl

Doesn't the 'jezebel spirit' have more to do with rebellion against God?

Jezebel (in the old testament) did dominate her husband, but good ole' king Ahab was kind of a slouch. She was deceitful, evil and rebellious, not against her husband but against God. I always understood that as being the 'jezebel spirit', and that it really had nothing to do with her husband.
I think along this line as well. I have always thought that Jezebel symbolizes the flesh, which is in terminal rebellion to GOD. That is why, IMO, it is said that some in Thyratira (children of the spirit) will be disciplined through affliction, but Jezebel's children (children of the flesh) will be killed in death.

IMO, it has nothing to do with male or female leaders, but with those leaders who walk in the flesh, and deceive believers to do the same. This can be found in any number of different denominations. Why Pentecostals and such fixate on Jezebel, I don't know. Perhaps it is as the OP suggests: they are merely projecting their own disobedience...

You make a serious error by thinking thinking the bible is a record of all demonic names. The names of demons change as new belifs are formed by men. New Demonic names are formed as needed by satan. If they bible included every demonic name it would still need to be amended.

Sorry but that is a huge mistake. The first demon I encountered said his name was depression. You simply will not find anything even close to that in the bible. The bible never once claimed to be a list of every demonic name. This is a serious misstep on your part.

And do you want to know why the Lutherans don't a whole lot of time addressing it. We're taught to do this

Ephesians 6

10 Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. 11 Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes. 12 For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powersof this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. 13 Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand. 14 Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, 15 and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace.16 In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. 17 Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.

James 4

4 You adulterous people,[a] don’t you know that friendship with the world means enmity against God? Therefore, anyone who chooses to be a friend of the world becomes an enemy of God. 5 Or do you think Scripture says without reason that he jealously longs for the spirit he has caused to dwell in us[b]? 6 But he gives us more grace. That is why Scripture says:
“God opposes the proud
but shows favor to the humble.”[c]

7 Submit yourselves, then, to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. 8 Come near to God and he will come near to you.Wash your hands, you sinners, and purify your hearts, you double-minded. 9 Grieve, mourn and wail. Change your laughter to mourning and your joy to gloom. 10 Humble yourselves before the Lord, and he will lift you up.

1 Peter 5

6 Humble yourselves, therefore, under God’s mighty hand, that he may lift you up in due time. 7 Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you.
8 Be alert and of sober mind. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour. 9 Resist him, standing firm in the faith, because you know that the family of believers throughout the world is undergoing the same kind of sufferings.

Re: Why is the "Jezebel spirit" concept mostly in Charismatic, Pentecostal, WOF circl

I do not believe in one Jezebel spirit. But I believe in Jezebel tactics used by spirits. The funny thing with this sort of issues is to my opinion, that often I see people taking the excesses and talk about it. Take revelation 2 and find out that several first churches there have a type of religious spirits. And several doctrines....sprouted from satanic spirits.... As Jesus Himself said to Jews following Him :Ye are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father ye will do John 8:44

When you do not believe in ONE Jezebel spirit...fine...me neither. But be careful not to jump over this spirit issue with a smile (at the charismatic or whatever movement) that this issue is about power woman, false prophets prophetesses. You might find one of those religious spirits in your own environment.....

Ephesus:
and thou hast tried them which say they are apostles, and are not, and hast found them liars: Rev 2:2
Smyrna:I know the blasphemy of them which say they are Jews, and are not, but are the synagogue of Satan. Rev 2:9
Pergamos:But I have a few things against thee, because thou hast there them that hold the doctrine of Balaam, who taught Balac to cast a stumblingblock before the children of Israel, to eat things sacrificed unto idols, and to commit fornication. So hast thou also them that hold the doctrine of the Nicolaitans, which thing I hate. Repent; or else I will come unto thee quickly, and will fight against them with the sword of my mouth. Rev2:14-16
Thyatira Notwithstanding I have a few things against thee, because thou sufferest that woman Jezebel, which calleth herself a prophetess, to teach and to seduce my servants to commit fornication, and to eat things sacrificed unto idols.

Re: Why is the "Jezebel spirit" concept mostly in Charismatic, Pentecostal, WOF circl

This is interesting and you might have a valid point. Traditional church for the most part does not acknowledge anything of the spirit realm beyound the pages of the bible. Even so, I am not sure that the whole basis for this thread is rooted in facts. The concept of "Jezebel-spirit" comes from deliverance. If demons exist, it has nothing to do with any denomination or spirit led group. I do not see it as having any connection to a spirit led movement, but I see your point and find it to be worth pondering.
I did not say it had anything to do with any "spirit-led movement". What I was implying is that traditional churches read only select pieces of the Word and so do not KNOW about the spiritual realm. They are not born again and so do not have access to the Holy Spirit or His counsel. People that are not born again can be affected by the demonic...as well and the heavenly. However, they do not recognize it as such because their portion of the Church has failed immensely in teaching them these truths. Hos 4:6 comes into play a major way here, and people do die because they have not been taught and because they do not read the Word on their own, nor study it.

It cannot truly be understood without the Holy Spirit or another born again person teaching you!. Most of the Word of God is spiritually metaphorical and most do not realize that or understand it. The Bible is a SPIRITUAL book and it is written to Born Again Christians, not the world/unsaved.

Most of the opposition I see is basically people taking the perspective that the "Jezebel Spirit" is not mentioned in the bible and therefore unbiblical.
would you concur with that primary premise?

yup sarah...can you imagine this stuff in our church? LOLOLOL!

we most assuredly don't give the devil acknowledgement from the sanctuary - the pulpit, as we hear the Word of the Lord and worship Him.
if His word mentions the devil....we read what GOD said.
end of story.

not what John Paul Jackson or C Peter Wagner or DemonBusters says.
