I realize this question was addressed to Ladies but, It was old and the rules fell off.

4 types of men.

1. Mr. Logical and Nerdy. (pocket protector)
2. Mr. Duty and Tradition. (Mustache)
3. Mr. Nice and Passive. (Sweater)
4. Mr. Cool and Aloof. (Sunglasses)

Type 1 is not looking but will eventually fall in love. Maybe.
Type 2 is boring and probably willing to settle.
Type 3 can't get a date but believes in True Love.
Type 4 has not problem attracting women but, won't commit.

5. Tintin

At least according to CC popularity polls. ;P
But seriously, I'm in Category 4 of SeoulSearch's post.

The book Created to be His Helpmeet has three excellent categories for men. The book talks about how the three categories each represent a different aspect of God. (Jesus might have been a perfect mix of all three.) I don't agree with all the book says, but I thought this was brilliant, and I could actually fit most people I know into one of the three categories, though there's usually secondary overlapping. I'm paraphrasing below...

1. Mr. Command Man - born leaders, preachers, politicians. They are heroes, greater-good thinkers. Control comes naturally, and decisions are made easily. This man will fiercely protect his loved ones.

2. Mr. Visionary - born shakers, changers, dreamers. The one who seeks out hypocrisy and injustice in the world. Passionate about controversial topics. Expressing himself in music, words, art or action. Risk takers, dream followers. This man will carry his family on an adventure.

3. Mr. Steady - selfless, hard working and peaceful. He is the builder, the farmer, the loyal husband. He is balanced and stable. He quietly shoulders responsibility. Slow and cautious, not readily showing his feelings. This man will always provide for his family.

Do any of these sound familiar? :)

Categorizing people goes against many of my personal beliefs, but I think I'll play... just for fun. :p Cause I'm bored.

1. Guys that care.
2. Guys that don't care.
3. Guys that try to care.
4. Guys that think they care but don't.
5. Guys that don't feel they care enough but actually care too much.

Categories taken out of books:

-Mr.Noah (The Notebook). Adventurous, and passionate. He follows his heart and intuition. He is the kind of guy who would be willing to do anything for his girl, even if he has to sacrifice himself. One he sets his mind on something, or someone, he is loyal with a passion. Most probably enjoys nature and traveling. No girl would be bored at his side, he can have fun anywhere. The con is that because of his passionate nature, he can forget about other responsibilities as soon as he gets passionate about something else.

-Mr.Darcy (Pride and Prejudice). He is a gentleman in all the sense of the word. He is good looking (if not naturally, at least in attitude) , responsible , and he even opens the door for you. He has a good head on his shoulders. Probably loves books and good conversations. He is not passionate like Mr. Noah, but he has a natural understanding of commitment and right and wrong. The con is that he has a tendency to be arrogant under certain conditions. He can also be very stiff and would need someone to teach him how to relax.

Mr.Peeta Mellark (The Hunger Games). He is a nice guy. Most people don't give him enough credit because he is not naturally assertive, like Mr. Darcy can be or even Noah. But he has a valuable heart. He will give you his heart, and protect yours. He is a good listener ,and can also be a fun person to be around when you get to know him. He really cares about others and is very loyal to his loved ones. Did I mention he has a good heart? The not-so-brightside is that he often needs to be more assertive and that can be frustrating to some women.

Mr.Heathcliff (Wuthering Heights). He is a jerk. No, really, he is. Okay, there might be a past that might have contributed for his being a jerk, but he is a jerk. He can be nice and change some of his habits, but that doesn't last long. He is one of those guys with issues. Women often defend them saying ''oh, but you don't know him like me''. And yeah, the guy can be deep but that doesn't make him a good guy. He loves with passion. He can be very loyal to those whom he loves, but he can become possesive and obsessed. It's one of those guys your momma warned you about.

Uh oh, I'm not sure we can start "inter"-breeding the species here... :)

No wonder we're all single.

We're all looking for hybrids...

I agree that would be the perfect mix! I think my description was too general and didn't give the characters enough credit since I was using them just to describe a general category, but I never thought Peeta was ''too nice''. His heart, combined with Mr. Darcy's gentlemanlike manners and attitude would create the perfect man...at least for me lol.

I'm definitely too much of a Peeta at times. I'm certainly not one to let people walk all over me but I've still been accused of being too nice. Annoys me to no-end because I try to be more assertive.

I've got my own categories for men...

1. Men who are my husband- 1 person in this category (in case y'all thought I was a polygamist...)
2. Men who are my family members- a handful of people in this one.
3. Men who are my friends- a smaller handful of people in this category.
4. Men who deliver frozen food to my house- the one guy I accidentally said something stupid to once (some of you may remember)
5. Men who only exist in the television (Johnny Depp...)
