GreenNbeans.... Well I sort of got into poetry I suppose back when it was basically just trying to come up for lyrics to songs in my old band. Needless to say I wasn't really a songwriter. Then somewhere in my early-mid twenties I started getting more introspective & I guess brooding maybe. I got into a car accident & was out of work for 6 months. I'd broken my left hand in 2 places as well,so that was in a cast. I remember asking my Mom if I could borrow her old electric typewriter, and late at night I'd make a pot of coffee at 2 finger type just stuff that was on my mind, how I felt about love, life, you name it. I had a friend who was big into writing & going to coffee houses reading his stuff,etc... and he saw some of the stuff I wrote & thought it was pretty good. He even said a few of them sounded like lyrics to songs. (which I found ironic) So anyways, yeah I've been writing on & off since then. I don't really consider what I write so much as poetry as I do mind vomit...which I know sounds gross, but it just comes out. I cannot force myself to write. It's just there & it happens, and I never have to truly think about what or how I am writing. I am certainly not disciplined in it at all. There was a brief time that I considered creating a book of the stuff I'd written mixed in here & there with some messed up art I've drawn or painted, but like many things in my life over the years I tend to get discouraged or lose interest in my personal projects & nothing ever comes about. I know it's not something I could ever make a living off of. I basically just write to vent. Period. If people find it interesting or cool or even blessed by it,that's always nice...but it's never my intent.

to hellooooo: Have you ever been close to being in a hurricane?
I'm on my phone, browsing during work, so pardon my grammar and run on sentences...

Growing we've always had hurricane season, but everything usually just fizzled out before hitting wherever I was at or got downgraded to a tropical storm. My freshman year of college, however, I went through hurricane CHarley and then Frances 2 or 3 weeks later and then Ivan.

Charley was a cat 4 hurricane. I had JUST started college several hours away from home and my university closed and told us all to evacuate a few days beforehand. My dad came and got me and took me home. The actual storm passing through was the eeriest thing I've ever heard...my family all went into this large closet/storage room we had downstairs since there weren't windows, and the wind was so strong iit felt like the windows would explode inward or the house would collapse, and I remember thinking it was weird to hear all that pounding but not hear any thunder claps. We were in that room forever, and afterwards we all went outside to see what had happened to the house and all the neighbors were outside too...everyone with a fence no longer had a fence, almost every single tree was down, there was no power (and wouldn't be for over a week) so everyone was using flashlights. (Made for some freezing cold showers in pitch darkness).

I have a large family, and my brother was still a baby at the time, so we were all getting short tempered after a few days of no power, not being able to go anywhere or do anything, no AC (it was still summer!!) the grocery stores running out of food, and it was a miracle my sisters and I didn't kill each other. Or that my parents didn't kill us. A lot of our other neighbors and congregation went through similar/worse..some parts of town still didn't have their power when frances hit.

For the other two that year, my school cancelled classes but instead of leaving town I had become friends with a girl who invited a bunch of us to just stay at her place during the evacuation.

When I first started at one of my old jobs a few years ago we got paid time off twice for a hurricane warning...management called everyone and told us to just stay home..which meant a lot of people did hurricane parties.

Some years are just worse than others, but usually everythings ok. 2004 was a freak occurrence.

So, I threw a Friends themed birthday party for a good friend of mine in Waikiki. It was a scavenger hunt party with several teams. Each team was a different character from the show. For the Monica team I painted bikinis on those plastic body things that they put swimsuits on sometimes and the members of the team wore those along with little jellyfish tied to their legs. It was pretty epic.
The Ross team all had blow up monkeys, the Chandler team all wore boxes, the phoebe team all had giant preggo bellies, the Rachel team wore little bridal veils with drawn on mustaches, and the Joey team.....I suddenly don't remember what the Joey team had on. Huh....
anyways, the scavenger hunt was GREAT! and it ended in a giant fountain at the end of Waikiki. Best party ever.

oh! The Joey team wore big Hats like the one in the London episode. :D

Jullianna: My Missouri Tigers will be facing your Tennessee Volunteers November 2nd. :D We just joined the big leagues, and it looks like we've won every game thus far. Are you worried? *Smug Smudge doesn't actually really know what she's talking about, because she'd rather play sports than watch them, but she does enjoy the annual homecoming parade.*
Tigers, huh? :D heeheehee

That sounds rather frightening, hellooooo, I just happened to be going to Florida in October 2005 with my dad on a business trip taking his trailer after having sold a piece of his equipment to someone there, through ebay. Anyway, so, yeah, I think I saw a different hurricane than Ivan, think it was category 4, but, maybe, not. the hurricane I'm thinking of was the one that devastated the pan handle like pensacola and up through Mississippi cutting a windy swath. We saw trees to the ground, down like dominos, for long stretches of freeway, for several miles, like 50 miles, as we drove from Biloxi, north. I saw the after-effects of the hurricane, there were big signs all torn off the 100 foot high food towers like taco bell and mcdonalds. DEvastating damage, like nothing I'd ever seen before, being from Washington State.
I think we went through this hurricane in Florida/Mississippi a month after the actual hurricane, there were still signs of the damage on the green freeway signs too, as I remember. Glad you were kept safe by Him, doing His will and doing things for the lord, like Daniel 4 says, will keep His Spriit keeping us more, as was the case for Daniel in the lions' den and also, don't forget the furnace, with shadrach, meshach, and, abednego :)

and, glad too that you and your sister survived each other, that sounds like, perhaps, the most frightening thing of all :D

My-my, naut. Can you say.....

:D I Love ya, bro :)

But, wow, julieannie, way to step up on that one, that is pure truth: Peyton Manning IS probably going to be thought of as the best QB ever soon. I see them playing the Seahawks in the Superbowl, so, perhaps, that greatness will have to wait for another year, milady :D He still needs another ring, I think, and, that will do it, Peyton will be considered the greatest QB who ever lived. Two rings, for certain, would seal the deal and I believe Peyton has about 5 more years in his career :)

I don't want to derail jilly's nice thread so.......

to everyone: if I asked you a question, I fully expect an answer. I asked a zillion of them. . I want ANSWERS, people, ANSWERS ! :D

To zere: hey, bro, what's up? Are you doin' OK? I forgot to mention ya yet, but, you know what Jesus says, 'The last shall be first.' :) No offense to the rest of ya :D

to everyone who has answered my questions, like bartles and James (but different), I thank you for your support :)

OH, OK, I know, I'm green, I could, perhaps, ask questions that are toooo much to answer here. No worries, mates. The Lord leads . God bless all you of ALL yo' days here on planet Earth. Be earthy, my friends, for Jesus, keep Him the SINGLE most important thing (One) in your lives :)

Oh , one more questino, who do you take the dog or the cat ? :D

kenthomas27- What's your typical Friday night like?

lil_christian- You're gonna be 18 soon-ish...what are you most looking forward to?

Grace-Like-Rain- If you had been unable to start your business, or unsuccessful at it, what do you think you'd be doing now?

GreenNnice- Have you actually ever toilet papered anyone's house (or otherwise mildly vandalized)?

iTOREtheSKY- If you had to be famous (I say "had to" so's you can't be like "I don't want to be famous!"), what would you want it to be for?

seoulsearch- I know you missed out on some things when you were a kid, but what are some things from your childhood that you are grateful for now?

Rachel- What does your ideal wedding gown look like (do you have, or could you find, a picture of it)?

Nautilus- I've seen a few people accuse you of just liking to disagree in order to pick fights. In all honesty, DO you enjoy getting uptight people a little riled up? Can't say I'd blame you if you do sometimes.

zaoman32- BEST. DAY. EVER. What would that be for you?

NodMyHeadLikeYeah AND Catlynn- What's the most difficult part about being a mom?

zeroturbulence- What's your favorite meal?

Liamson- If you could choose a different path for your life, knowing what you know now, would you? And what would it be?

Aimee- What type of job would be sheer torture to you, and why?

arwen83- What's your idea of a perfect, romantic evening? Would it be a first date, or with someone you've already fallen in love with?

Chainhand- So um, what DO you do, anyway?

Ugly- If you had to go back in time and change one thing about your life (a mistake, not something you couldn't control), what would it be?

to kentom: what is your favorite color?
More than favorite color, I like the names of color. Sometimes I just like to go to those big paint charts and read the names - almond, young shoot, melon, tobacco, aniseed yellow, spa blue, linen, cardinal, Chinese lacquer, seal, hazlewood, duck (not the color you"d think), sienna - sahara noon, crystal zest (huh?).

What quality of Yosemite Sam is most like on of Jesus on Earth?
He's consistent.

I laughed soooo hard at this, in that context...

I didn't think it was as funny (although it was funny ,I agree, mizcris) as it was profound :)

Consisitent, indeed. He was fully God and fully man, this Jesus. But, even, as a man, was he consistent? Like no other :)

well said, kentom, oh, and, yeah, about the different colors, I know what I'm gonna get you for Christmas

That's the 120 crayon box, brother, just about the biggest size you can buy. Soooo many colors :)
That's mine, don't worry, yours will be a new box :D

Being in North Idaho, I have a front row seat to both the Denver Broncos and the Seattle Seahawks. Right now, Peyton has the record for the most TDs in the fewest games, not to mention not one interception. Denver's offense is on its way to be the best in NFL history, most points scored in a season. The Broncos' defense is playing without their two best players and still are dominating.

Even with all the Seahawks' fans in North Idaho, even they can't see their beloved Ospreys beating Denver this year.
