Heb. 8:4 if he were on earth, he should not be a priest, seeing hat there are priests that offer gifts according to the law.

Is Paul telling us Jesus did not live on earth?

No! What he is saying is that Jesus Ministry is being exercised in heaven.

1 John 2:1 He stands before the Father on our behalf . When satan, who is still in heaven and is the accuser of he brethren accuses us, Jesus defends us before the Father.

Praise God

Why does Paul never make reference to Jesus being on earth in this epistle? And why doe he not quote Jesus?

Because, Paul did not see or believe while Jesus was on Earth. While Jesus was on Earth and shortly after. Saul was imprisoning those that had faith in Jesus until the road to damascus. Jesus is not on Earth at this time. But will be soon.

If the author is unknown, how is this epistle still considered to be inspired?

whoever wrote Hebrews (i wouldn't be surprised if David did, ha, considering how many times the Psalms are quoted in it), i think it's because the gospels had already been laid down, the audience was familiar with His life, and:

Therefore let us move beyond the elementary teachings about Christ and be taken forward to maturity, not laying again the foundation of repentance from acts that lead to death, and of faith in God, instruction about cleansing rites, the laying on of hands, the resurrection of the dead, and eternal judgment.

(Hebrews 6:1-2)

Because someone in the council decided it.

What about the books that were removed? The Deutero canonical texts? Why were they trashed?

Book of Judith , Bel and the Dragon and many others have been removed. Study the texts of the Essenes in the Kumron caves. . Why are many removed texts in the Dead Sea Scrolls?

Paul understood that Jesus according to the flesh, the world will know no more. He spoke of spiritual things.

the Holy Spirit inspires according to His will, not the will of man............all one has to do is read Hebrews to see the inspirational message contained within........

I see now by your profile that you state you are not a Christian...........could this be the motivation for this thread?

Just wondering

Those books are works of fiction, and works of history, depending upon the book.

By the way, the books you are talking about were intertestimental books - between Malachi and Matthew. They simply are not inspired, and the errors speak for themselves. The Jewish canon was closed by 400 BC and it did not reopen until the apostles started writing the New Testament in the mid 40's to 50's AD.

Because as the Hebrew writer explains, those who served the earthly sanctuary were all of the tribe of Levi. Jesus, not being of the tribe of Levi could not serve as a priest on earth any more than the Levitical priests could serve in the true holy of holies. Their priestly function was limited to the earthly tabernacle. Jesus, being the heavenly high priest functions as such from a completely different order and a much higher status.

How does one determine which books the Holy Spirit has and has not inspired?

Why do you care? Seriously.......why? Are you beginning to doubt your unbelief?
