You have got to be out of your mind to believe the above bolded...Faith is a SPIRITUAL GIFT from God and it is GOD who initiates salvation....
God initiated it with Grace, it was his part of the covenant, faith is mans part, God makes nobody have faith, it is not I that is out of their mind or I would believe in "faith only"

Go look the verse up that states clearly...God has dealt to every man a measure of ? FAITH IS THE WORD....

You said clearly that we SAVE OUSELVES that is HERESY and a gospel that cannot save---->=HELL

But the spirit succumbs to the influence of the flesh and thus sins. Flesh does not sin, neither does just the spirit. They sin or don't sin together, it is called a human nature, one Person. We are not multi natured and each indiependent of each other.
It is obvious you are oblivious to the conflict that Paul as well as Jesus taught about concerning our dual nature after salvation....you guys still cannot even grasp the truth because you have missed the boat on biblical salvation...just like your twisty buddy Flipper...HE posted clearly that WE MUST SAVE OURSELVES and that is exactly what you believe.

You just rejected the truth from a man that was inspired to write 5 N.T. books and was the disciple that Jesus loved...as he wrote clearly...that which is born of God DOES NOT SIN..so not only do you teach a heretical doctrine you also call John and Jesus as well as the Heavenly Father liars......good luck with that Cassius!

I quoted scripture, you should read it instead of some mans statement of faith, creed or manual.

Here it is again for you.

Acts 2:40 (KJV)
[SUP]40 [/SUP]And with many other words did he testify and exhort, saying, Save yourselves from this untoward generation.

Philippians 2:12 (KJV)

[SUP]12 [/SUP]Wherefore, my beloved, as ye have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling.

You obviously misunderstood the inspired man, in fact, one of the scriptures I quoted was from the same inspired man:

Philippians 2:12 (KJV)
[SUP]12 [/SUP]Wherefore, my beloved, as ye have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling.

Within the CONTEXT

Acts 2

37 When the people heard this, they were cut to the heart and said to Peter and the other apostles, “Brothers, what shall we do?”
38 Peter replied, “Repent and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins. And you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. 39 The promise is for you and your children and for all who are far off—for all whom the Lord our God will call.”

40 With many other words he warned them; and he pleaded with them, “Save yourselves from this corrupt generation.” 41 Those who accepted his message were baptized, and about three thousand were added to their number that day.

Philippians 2

12 Therefore, my dear friends, as you have always obeyed—not only in my presence, but now much more in my absence—continue to work out your salvation with fear and trembling, 13for it is God who works in you to will and to act in order to fulfill his good purpose.
14 Do everything without grumbling or arguing, 15 so that you may become blamelessand pure, “children of God without fault in a warped and crooked generation.”[c] Then you will shine among them like stars in the sky 16 as you hold firmly to the word of life. And then I will be able to boast on the day of Christ that I did not run or labor in vain.17 But even if I am being poured out like a drink offering on the sacrifice and service coming from your faith, I am glad and rejoice with all of you. 18 So you too should be glad and rejoice with me.

And what did Peter tell them to do? "repent and be baptized" he told them first how to "save themselves"

I did not take it out of context, it just that what I said does not match your man made creeds, manuals etc...

Baptism does not save and it is an identification process...Peter is telling them to identify themselves with Jesus through Baptism which disassociates them from the guilty generation that crucified Christ and identifies them with Christ...

This has nothing to do with biblical salvation....again your works for salvation taints your blurred vision concerning the scriptures...do the word studies and wear glasses it might help your blindness.

Again this has nothing to do with the actual act of being saved, but rather means to (outfit) your salvation with being biblical and walk according to the word of God...does not save us or keep us saved, but is the end result of already BEING SAVED

Our faith causes us to perform good works that are beneficial to the kingdom of God. Good works that are beneficial to the kingdom of God generate and strengthen the faith of other Christians, therefore helping them on the path to salvation. From that perspective, good works certainly can help us attain salvation, although faith is of course the underlying reason why we're saved.

It wouldn't be wise to completely discredit the value of good works in our daily spiritual lives.

Baptism certainly can help save souls. Once you're baptized, you receive the gifts of the Holy Spirit. Once one is baptized, the purification of his/her soul starts and continues until he/she is dead.

Says you and your man made doctrine you follow, Your doctrine has a sinner saved, you say one is saved before baptism, the bible says baptism washes away sins :

Acts 22:16 (KJV)
[SUP]16 [/SUP]And now why tarriest thou? arise, and be baptized, and wash away thy sins, calling on the name of the Lord.

Paul believed on the road to Damascus, his sins were not washed away until he was baptized...

You too have no room for repentance, it cannot be after you believe, because you would have a unrepentant man saved, it cant happen before he believed because he would not know he had to repent or what to repent of, so you see, your doctrine is full of holes... the only ones making sense on here, have only the bible and no man made doctrine, creed or manual to tell you what the bible means....

This goes totally against your man made doctrine of OSAS, it says one must work at not apostatizing, it says it is possible to lose your salvation, again, only those that go by only the bible have an understanding of this, those that use there man made doctrines creeds and manuals will go in circles trying to say Jesus saved me and I have to do nothing to keep it, can never lose it. they need some man to tell them what the bible really means.

It is true a real christian will produce good works, but too good works are what keeps us a christian, anyone who tells you there is nothing that you can do to lose your salvation has flat out lied to you, you're young and seem to be smart for your age, read your bible only, and don't let some man made doctrine drive your path.

I cannot help you hold to pagan ideas about man. Scripture never states man has more than ONE nature. It consists of parts, namely body and soul. But one aspect of man does not operate independently from the other. The war that goes on is between the flesh of man, and the spirit of man. Satan works through the flesh, the passions of man, the Holy Spirit works through the spirit of man. But it is man, the person that accepts the influence of either. If you sin your whole person sins. If you don't sin, your whole person did not sin. There is not such thing that the flesh sins and at the same time the spirit is not sinning.
What man must devise in order to develop a theory. This thread has exposed a lot of unscriptural ideas besides being saved by faith only.

this has become interesting with all the twisting, redefining, just outright denial of what scripture states, just to hold an obvious errant view. They work so hard at trying to overturn scripture they cannot put forth any effort to produce the evidence that is supposed to support their premise. I have yet to see any in either post on this topic as yet.

How is his statement our of context in either of these two texts you quoted. The Phil 2:12 says exactly the same thing as your Acts citation.

This text is often trotted out by the OSAS crowd, but it does not say anything about God doing any work for man. What is says that God/the Holy Spirit works IN US( for we) to do and act to do his will.

Actually not quite correct. NO ONE is declared righteous by WORKS but by faith. The point they are trying to make is that it is AN ACTIVE,LIVING,BREATHING FAITH out of which comes repentance, baptism, obedience, and love. It is the point that James is trying to make. James very clearly says a dead faith can NOT SAVE.

James 2

14What good is it, my brothers and sisters, if someone claims to have faith but has no deeds? Can such faith save them?15 Suppose a brother or a sister is without clothes and daily food.16 If one of you says to them, “Go in peace; keep warm and well fed,” but does nothing about their physical needs, what good is it?17 In the same way, faith by itself, if it is not accompanied by action, is dead.

The Bible is very clear that SAVING FAITH IS ACTIVE not PASSIVE.

You see that a person is justified by works and not by faith alone.Jas. 2:24

Of course a dead faith won't save you. So you agree that a dead faith (one void of any works) cannot save you, therefore works are also required to make it an active faith, is that right?

You are right, it does not save, but is necessary for salvation, Just like faith does not save either, but is necessary for salvation. Justification does not save either, but is necessary for salvation.
You are also correct in that baptism does identify one as a believer. It is entrance INTO Christ, one is now a bonefied believer and cannot be called an unbeliever.
