The law shows a person what things GOD does not want.(ie)When we were children, our mother would tell us not to do certain things and if she caught us doing those things

She would punish us,but because of our youngness we didn't understand why she would do this.
Then as we got older we started to understand why she was chastising us

When she told us we would get the switch if she caught us running across the street without looking it was not because she was being silly, but because she loved us, and didn't want us to be hit by a car,but we thought she just wanted to chastise us for not being obedient.

Then as we get older,we realize that those things she was saying makes sense and now we know why an adult looks both ways before crossing the street and now our mother don't have to tells us about that anymore, because we are old enough to know and ready because we were obedient and we trusted that our mother had our best interest in heart.

But if that didn't happen.A child looks cute crawling on the floor, but when they get old,it doesn't look cute anymore.

what I mean is-
once the law has done its job its time to move on.

Same Law, different Covenant. The Law does not change.
Heb 7:12 For the priesthood being changed, there is made of necessity a change also of the law.

There had to be a change in laws for Christ to be a Priest. He could not be a Priest as long as the OT was in effect for he was from the wrong tribe for that OT law allowed for Priests from the tribe of Levi, not Judah, v14

. It is not a day of rest or restricted activity and it is not designed as such. It is the first day of the week; to Christians, the Lord's day.
Nowhere does the scripture say that the first day of the week is the Lord's day...

Exo 16:29 See! For the LORD has given you the Sabbath; therefore He gives you on the sixth day bread for two days. Let every man remain in his place; let no man go out of his place on the seventh day."

The seventh day is the Sabbath, the day that belongs to the LORD...

Lev 23:2 "Speak to the children of Israel, and say to them: 'The feasts of the LORD, which you shall proclaim to be holy convocations, these are My feasts.
Lev 23:3 'Six days shall work be done, but the seventh day is a Sabbath of solemn rest, a holy convocation. You shall do no work on it; it is the Sabbath of the LORD in all your dwellings.

Now if your Bible says here that this is the Sabbath of the Jews, return it and get your money back, it contains misprints.

Mat 12:8 For the Son of Man is Lord even of the Sabbath."

Mar 2:28 Therefore the Son of Man is also Lord of the Sabbath."

Luk 6:5 And He said to them, "The Son of Man is also Lord of the Sabbath."

Christ says that He is LORD of the Sabbath day not the first day of the week.

Did you read what Law was changed?

Num 3:6 "Bring the tribe of Levi near, and present them before Aaron the priest, that they may serve him.
Num 3:7 And they shall attend to his needs and the needs of the whole congregation before the tabernacle of meeting, to do the work of the tabernacle.
Num 3:8 Also they shall attend to all the furnishings of the tabernacle of meeting, and to the needs of the children of Israel, to do the work of the tabernacle.
Num 3:9 And you shall give the Levites to Aaron and his sons; they are given entirely to him from among the children of Israel.
Num 3:10 So you shall appoint Aaron and his sons, and they shall attend to their priesthood; but the outsider who comes near shall be put to death."

Now what does that have to do with...

Exo 20:15 "You shall not steal.

Did that change the eighth Commandment? It is now OK to steal because the Law concerning the DNA of the Priesthood was changed?

OK here is a challenge for you guys who think the Law had to be done away, that it is an evil thing and a curse. Tell me what is wrong with the Law. Show me how I am cursed for obeying the Ten Commandments.

Thanks. You just proved why we are no longer under the law. We can not keep it.

If we were still under the law. You just proved me right, we would be DOOMED. For "cursed is everyone who does not confirm ALL THE WORDS of this law and OBEY THEM.

As you just said, We can not do it.

Israel could not do it. The yoke was to severe. so why do you want to place us under the yoke Israel could not follow?
{Please use common sense and put on Christ! You have learned you can't obey law, you have learned about grace. To have grace you have to repent of what you deny, God's instructions on how to live. So you simply repent blindly, and you are saved. Now, do you think God deserts you? God does not, He gives you instructions on how to follow Him. Would you tell God no, I won't listen to You? Or would you do your best to follow?

Hello john832
I would say that the law of GOD is perfect, but we were not perfect on the inside, you know (thoughts).
you would not be acceptable to GOD by trying to keep the ten commandments,Back then if you tried to keep the commandments and you failed (sinned),then it meant death.

++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
BTW. I was wondering if you feel that as long as you are trying to keep the ten commandments that you are more acceptable to GOD. ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

you have to be perfect on the inside, the bible says that the way that is going to be done is by grace(JESUS provided the grace and we have access to this grace through faith)

I'm wondering about this- Are the people in this discussion saying the same thing as far as we should be under grace.
or,maybe they are saying be under grace and keep the law also. There is a difference between the
1.)the two commandments
2.)the ten commandments
number 1.) rest and believe
number 2.) do these without help.

................... Show me how I am cursed for obeying the Ten Commandments.
Again? You didn't listen the first hundred times, why would anyone want to go thru it again?

Trying to convince you sabbath keepers of grace thru Christ is an exercise in futility.

Hello john832
I would say that the law of GOD is perfect, but we were not perfect on the inside, you know (thoughts).

I think I know what you mean but I would state it this way...

It is not acceptable to God to think that we can be justified or reconciled to God by keeping the Commandments under our own power or even with the help of the Holy Spirit. Our very best is menstrous rags to God.

Back then if you tried to keep the commandments and you failed (sinned),then it meant death.
Still does to day. When we sin we incur the death penalty...

Rom 6:23 For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.

This is where grace comes in. We go to God in humble repentance asking for forgiveness (Mat 6:13) and Christ intercedes for us offering His own blood to pay the price for us.

++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
BTW. I was wondering if you feel that as long as you are trying to keep the ten commandments that you are more acceptable to GOD. ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
I believe that God asks us to obey Him, to obey the Ten Commandments rather than disregarding them. I do not believe that any amount of perfect Law keeping earns eternal life...

Eph 2:8 For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God,

Yet I believe that a disregard for the Commandments and breaking them without regard can gain us death...

Rev 21:7 He who overcomes shall inherit all things, and I will be his God and he shall be My son.
Rev 21:8 But the cowardly, unbelieving, abominable, murderers, sexually immoral, sorcerers, idolaters, and all liars shall have their part in the lake which burns with fire and brimstone, which is the second death."

The wages of sin is death and the gift of God is eternal life. A callous disregard for sin (I John 3:4) invokes this...

Heb 10:26 For if we sin willfully after we have received the knowledge of the truth, there no longer remains a sacrifice for sins,
Heb 10:27 but a certain fearful expectation of judgment, and fiery indignation which will devour the adversaries.
Heb 10:28 Anyone who has rejected Moses' law dies without mercy on the testimony of two or three witnesses.
Heb 10:29 Of how much worse punishment, do you suppose, will he be thought worthy who has trampled the Son of God underfoot, counted the blood of the covenant by which he was sanctified a common thing, and insulted the Spirit of grace?

you have to be perfect on the inside, the bible says that the way that is going to be done is by grace(JESUS provided the grace and we have access to this grace through faith)
And that I am firmly convinced of, yet that is not license to disobey the Law of God at our leisure.

To everyone, please look at post 107: This is amazing, john532 has said his first good thing, and seed_time_harvest has said his first bad thing. LOL:rolleyes: I exaggerate, OF COURSE! The point I wish to make is: How could seed_time_harvest be sooo dumb:p headed? What in the world is he smoking? LOL, Please slow down and smell the roses, man. SORRY, I just could not resist. :D I just love these faces; but ,by the way, what, in the world does :p mean? :) , :) , I don't have a clue?! OF COURSE, God is happier, when we keep His commandments. Jesus loved the rich, young, good, moral, ruler who asked of eternal life. Do you think God is some kind of a fool? Disobedient children make fools of their stupid, ignorant parents. The wicked sinners of Rom. chs.1,2,3 Don't make God happy, they see God as some stupid fool. I really see tears in Jesus' eyes when He wept over Jerusalem, and at Lazarus grave. On the other hand, God is happy when the righteous rule and men are happy when they have plenty to eat and can sleep in peace. Please think, before you react. Love Hoffco

You people who think one must be perfect to make God happy with you, are destroying the lives of good people who are trying to be good people and make a good society for their children to live in. When you tell them , it is no good to try to please God by being moral, because you have to be perfect; So, they thrown their hands up and leave the church, because you condemn them as hypocrites for trying. This makes no sense! LOve Hoffco

This and your post #101 - should one try looking before running across a street until it becomes a life style?
If that person keep running without looking grace does not help, does it?

Does it really matter to the Creator whether we keep the Law?
It's for our own good.

But when you are driving a car/truck on public roads, are you able to keep the laws of the road by your own power?
I would definitely think I was keeping them in my own understanding.

But when the Son of God comes down and tells us that not only is speeding against the law, but thinking about going over the speed limit, even when you are late for work, is also against the law, I would have to re-think if I actually do keep the law.

When I find out that I can't keep the Law according to the way the Lord Jesus describes it, I come to Him and He gives me rest, and a new mode of transportation. When I am in my plane, that the Lord has given me, I can't mix the old laws of the road with the new laws of flying, that is sure disaster. If I am really interested in this new way and new mode of transportation I have to follow the new law that was changed just for this way of travel. The old way we used to travel wasn't very good for us. It didn't get us where we needed to go. But this new way is really awesome.

In order to follow this new way, though, you have to be ready to abandon all your old understanding and ask the Lord for new understanding, the knowledge of Him and what He has done for us.

I would like to know where it specifically says in the bible that we can pick and choose which part of the Mosaic Law we should follow and which part we should discard?

The bible doesn't say it but there sure are a lot of people that separate the law into parts and say we are under this part but not under that part. Under whose authority was anyone given the right to do that?

Surely if there were different parts of the law that were being discarded and certain parts that were being retained someone in the bible would have carefully laid it out for us, seeing that we have such little faith and are very stubborn in our own understanding.

Galatians 3:10 For as many as are of the works of the law are under the curse: for it is written, Cursed is every one that continueth not in all things which are written in the book of the law to do them.

No one is doing animal sacrifice anymore. That is a big part of the things which are written in the book. Maybe we need a different interpretation of Galatians, one written by Judaism, so we can continue in our error. Maybe not...

your the one who needs to repent.

The law CAN NOT TEACH YOU HOW TO LIVE, all it can do is teach you HOW YOU CAN NOT LIVE LIKE GOD REQUIRES.

If your going to follow part of the law. Your indebted to follow it all. You better start obeying perfectly. Oh wait, its to late, you already failed.
