Coming from a country that is like predominantly Catholic it sometimes pains me to see that it's all become a mumbo jumbo of rituals and deeds. Catholic theology really emphasized JUSTIFICATION BY FAITH but a part of their theology tells its members to behave in the world too and do what needs to be done. The reason many Catholics here are afraid of Christians is that we are pushing them to abandon "the faith"... let us remember the Catholic church means "whole", and Christ really envisioned ONE Church in Him. Sadly though, the Catholic theology has focused on the "behaving" part that people are now forgetting the real reason why they are doing all those things-- to glorify God. Many end up being lapsed Catholics... the "six-days godless and one-day Catholic" phenomenon. We don't need to seek "Catholics" we should be seeking the "lapsed and lost"... as for the devout ones, we should encourage them to step up their faith and encounter God... The last thing us Christians need is a fellow Christian judging us and telling us that we're going down because we're not "following the brand".

Catholic, Baptist, Pentecostal, Presbyterian, Lutheran, Methodist, Congregational, Brethren, Mennonite, Anabaptist-- these are just brands. And it's good that there is diversity in Christianity. I just wish that this diversity is not seen as division... but seen as unity under the one language that is to glorify God.

I recently had revelations of how divided our church is, and it hurts me to know we are evangelizing people to get them out of a "brand" and not out of the "pit". God revealed Micah 4:1-3 to me and I hope even in the division His church experiences right now, we will someday be united in diversity in glorifying God.

Micah 4:1-3

1 In the last days
the mountain of the LORD’s temple will be established
as the highest of the mountains;
it will be exalted above the hills,
and peoples will stream to it.

2 Many nations will come and say,

“Come, let us go up to the mountain of the LORD,
to the temple of the God of Jacob.
He will teach us his ways,
so that we may walk in his paths.”
The law will go out from Zion,
the word of the LORD from Jerusalem.
3 He will judge between many peoples
and will settle disputes for strong nations far and wide.
They will beat their swords into plowshares
and their spears into pruning hooks.
Nation will not take up sword against nation,
nor will they train for war anymore.
A surprisingly refreshing post. You are spot on that trying to convert Catholics doesn't get anyone nowhere. And it's because we're used to that and tend to just withdraw and tune out or just start hanging out with just our Catholic and secular friends.

Catholicism also straight up works better in illiterate areas as well. I've talked to protestant missionaries after they've returned from South America and they always say that it's a struggle to plant churches there that survive, because so much revolves around the congregation being able to read the Bible as the pinnacle of their spirituality and many can't. Catholicism on the other hand the Mass, the Eucharist, the Rosary, etc. Which don't require literacy.

Do you ever actually post anything from your own thoughts? Or just from random websites?
well....... do you ever read your Bible or just go with the flow when they say that praying to patron saints is ok, totally ignore the 2nd commandment, and read the sermon in Latin so you can't understand it (and in the early days killed anyone who tried to translate it) Oh and when they say it's totally ok to ignore the fact that they edited out Jehovah after the Bible tells them to sanctify his NAME.

LOL. So it's painfully obvious that you have never actually been to a Catholic Church.
Wow, so much fail. Just wow.

Those "Catholics" to claim to put together the Bible aren't really the SAME "Catholics" of today. In the 3rd and 4th centuries, there was great admiration of Mary but there wasn't scapulars and rosaries (prayer beads) dedicated to "her". There was still Jesus being the only way to escape Hell.

Jesus said that HE is the ONLY WAY to God. Yet, "Mary's" promise of wearing her scapular is that by wearing it at the time of death, you'll escape Hell.
Jesus taught His followers to pray. He DIDN'T start with "Hail Mary".

I'm sure there are many other differences between the early Church and what YOU may call the "church".
I wonder......if by your estimation what is taught by the Catholic Church is wrong then the basis of all Christian faiths are wrong. And yes the pillars of Catholic Fatih are One God the Father the Almighty Maker of Heaven and Earth. The LORD Jesus Christ the only son of God and the Holy Spirt. We Believe that he died for us. So your allowed to think what is right and what is wrong. So what is the TRINITY wrong, is the Eucarist Wrong? The veneration of Saints is wrong? Is St. Peter at the gates of Heaven holding the Keys wrong? Are the saints who pray at the Throne of Heaven wrong? Calvanism was a bit off in many cases and yet you know what most Catholics call Protestans? Seperated Bretheren. No one from the Church would curse anyone from another denomination who believes in the Trinity. We are all brothers. STOP THIS MADDNESS AND LET US LOVE AND SERVE THE LORD!

And one more thing that does bother me. We Christians and You Catholics........WE ARE CHRISTIANS!!!!!!! We were Christians before Martin Luther, Before Calvin, Before Wesley.

Glory be to the Father and the Son and to the Holy Spirit as it was in the begining, is now and ever shall be a world without end.

HIS will be done.

In his defense if you think the sermon is read in Latin the only time you've ever been in a Catholic Church must have been in 200AD.

I'll count that as ONE of the points refuted. The least damaging argument to the Catholic church oddly enough haha. Still waiting for the other ones to be refuted.

See, now YOU understand what it's been like when we have posters who rail against Judaism without actually ever having been into a temple or personally knowing any Jews. You know, the ones who only know about it from websites.

And we are certainly blessed that most of them are gone now.

Yep, but for someone to think the sermon is in Latin (the sermon has always been in the vernacular), and most probably think that the Mass is in Latin (when it's been in the vernacular for over 50 years now) is ridiculous.

Still waiting for the other points (the ones that break biblical teachings/laws) to be refuted. Don't take one point and run away with it. No I have never been to a Catholic Church but so far everyone is dancing around the fact that they don't speak in Latin anymore (my mother explained to me that they did when she was a devout Catholic growing up) and are totally ignoring the important points that I made. You know, the whole praying to patron saints is ok, totally ignoring the 2nd commandment, and saying it's totally ok to ignore the fact that they edited out Jehovah 7000 times after the Bible tells them to sanctify His NAME.

I'm feeling a bit under the weather, so I'll just put some links for you to read and better understand the Catholic position on things.

Regarding asking the saints to pray for us: Praying to the Saints | Catholic Answers & The Intercession of the Saints | Catholic Answers

Regarding the "ignoring the second commandment" bit: Do Catholics Worship Statues? | Catholic Answers

And regarding the Jehovah bit: Is God's name Yahweh or Jehovah? | Catholic Answers

That would depend on how old your mother is. But like I said the sermon has only ever been in Latin when Latin was the spoken vernacular. The Mass itself was in Latin up until the second Vatican Council in 1965 when the Novus Ordo replaced the Tridentine Latin Mass.

RC was not founded in 325 it was 1054. The True Orthodox Catholic Christian Church (The Church of Tradition and Scripture) is the true Church, Rome departed and made itself the church, protestants thought they too could be the church (Calvin was called pope of Geneva and luther pope of Wittenburg) After the pope placed Christ's crown on his head any man could then take it off the pope and claim he had it. The ORthodox that is True Orthodox do not have innovations that the Roman Catholics added. We are the Church of both East and West (I myself am a Western Rite Orthodox)

Why do churches like to find ways to attack one another?
It is called "bigotry" and "secretarianism" and is a work of the flesh (Gal 5v19-21), Paul said that such Christians were carnal immature babes (in Christ)! 1Cor 3v1-8

These carnal immature bigots quite often quote the Scripture in Jude v3 that they are "contending for the faith" to justify their hard heartedness!

There is only one Church the others are anti-churches set up by the evil one to spread confusion. It may sound 'bigoted' but True Christians will uphold the Truth. If a Christian does not uphold that Truth he is with satan You are either with Christ or against Him.

by 1054 both the roman papacy and the eastern patriarchates had deviated from true christian doctrine...the innovations had already begun to creep in...which is why the reformation had to happen... unfortunately the reformation had only partial success in the west and was completely stamped out by the dositheites in the eastern churches...

since then both the roman church and the eastern churches have added even more different but equally false innovations...
