I am not interested with rock music even it is christian music. For me, i am not comfortable to hear this kind of music. One day, my spiritual mentor talked about the christian music. He said that listening with this kind of music can affect your physical and even spiritual. Why do you think so?..

post your ideas!

I think that actually depends on the person, I tend too feel closer to God with christian rock rather then most other types of christian music. But if it does not speak to you then that is fine. Again, it just depends on the individual person.

If you're convicted by the Holy Spirit, don't listen to it. The genre isn't a stumbling block for me. And in general, much Christian rock/metal and so on, is richer and more genuine than Christian pop and some praise and worship music.

There are multiple threads debating this. There is nothing biblically against any genre of music and people who try to purport this lie are using bias and misapplication of scripture to suit their tastes, rather than anything valid.
It's simple, if you don't like it, don't listen to it. But you have no scriptural stance to criticize those who do. We're all different with different tastes and interests and can find God in various manners. I listen to most CCM/Hillsong/Modern Praise/Etc... and find it trite, uninspired and bland. I can listen to other styles of music such as Christian rap or metal or whatever else and find learning, inspiration and even worship from it.

I´m better connected to me than spiritually connected to another superhuman being when listening Rock.

I don´t think music should be used to draw His throne down or easier, He is just there whenever He wants to be.

Psalm 150

1Praise the Lord.[SUP]a[/SUP]

Praise God in his sanctuary;
praise him in his mighty heavens.
2Praise him for his acts of power;
praise him for his surpassing greatness.
3Praise him with the sounding of the trumpet,

praise him with the harp and lyre,
4praise him with timbrel and dancing,
praise him with the strings and pipe,
5praise him with the clash of cymbals,
praise him with resounding cymbals.

6Let everything that has breath praise the Lord.

Praise the Lord.

I don't buy into most peoples 'visions' because visions seem to magically reflect what a person already believes. Or wants to believe.

Ya know, I have never seen a Filipino get into a debate.
Not ever.
They are just too polite.

It almost makes me want to contradict her just to see what happens...
whether I actually disagree or not.

: )

Musical tones and rythms have power. When King Saul was tormented by evil spirits, he had David play his harp and the evil spirits departed while David played. Bad music can invite evil spirits the same as good Godly music can drive them away.

The rock and roll beat is a back-beat, emphasing generally the first and third beats rather than the normal melodious emphaisis on the 2nd adn 4th beats. This places the focus of the music on the rythm, and it's appeal is a physical appeal which drags down our spirt when it engages our emotions. Godly music focuses on the message and the Creator/Saviour, not on the rythm.

The term "rock and roll" came from houses of prostitution as it was used to describe the way the prostitutes process clients.
There is nothing Christian about rock and roll, and rock and roll music should never be used for Christian music. The rock beat is for physical and emotional appeal. Whereever Christian Rock grows, all kinds of sexual sin grows. This is documented in many churches which have changed from traditional to modern praise and worship and Contemporary Christian music, affairs always follow in the chuch because the music promotes it with sensuality.

Musical tones and rythms have power.

and are used of God righteously, for righteous purpose, in righteous men.

But Jehoshaphat asked, “Is there no prophet of the Lord here, through whom we may inquire of the Lord?”
An officer of the king of Israel answered, “Elisha son of Shaphat is here. He used to pour water on the hands of Elijah.”
Jehoshaphat said, “The word of the Lord is with him.”
So the king of Israel and Jehoshaphat and the king of Edom went down to him. Elisha said to the king of Israel, “Why do you want to involve me? Go to the prophets of your father and the prophets of your mother.”
“No,” the king of Israel answered, “because it was the Lord who called us three kings together to deliver us into the hands of Moab.”
Elisha said, “As surely as the Lord Almighty lives, whom I serve, if I did not have respect for the presence of Jehoshaphat king of Judah, I would not pay any attention to you. But now bring me a harpist.
While the harpist was playing, the hand of the Lord came on Elisha and he said,
“This is what the Lord says: I will fill this valley with pools of water."

And even then, a "vision" should be explored with wise counsel to see if it truly is a vision. People use "hearing from God" for nefarious purposes.
