1 Corinthians 6:15-16 is NOT talking about marriage. it's talking about fornication, corporeal and physical. Paul makes the point that fornication is tantamount to marriage, not that marriage is tantamount to fornication.

Hosea 1:2 IS talking about marriage, and the scripture clearly and specifically indicates that Hosea was instructed by God to take in marriage a woman of wanton character.

the subject of being "unequally yoked" keeps getting tossed out as though it leads to an obvious conclusion.
that's false.
have a look at what Paul's advice to married couples who are not on the same page concerning spiritual things is:

If any brother has a wife who is not a believer and she is willing to live with him,
he must not divorce her.

(1 Corinthians 7:12)

God prefers in all cases reconciliation to divorce.
He himself divorced Israel per her request, and takes her back as she returns to Him.

Which thief are we to be? Both are guilty. One makes demands. The other sees his own guilt, has remorse, shows compassion, and asks for forgiveness.

We are all thieves...and must decide which one to be.

Hosea's marriage to the prostitute was intended to call Israel to either judge the "situation" or feel remorse for their own transgressions and repent. Don't miss the message because you don't like the method.

I am not saying God's Laws were made for Him. God's Laws were made for man. For God cannot murder. He is the giver and taker of life. God cannot steal. He owns all of creation. What I am saying is that any Laws He makes for man is:

(a) An expression of His holy and righteous character.
(b) Cannot change or be altered unless there is a New Covenant by blood that sets a New standard of rules.
Yes and if you read carefully in the OT testament, you will see that God made more than one covenant.

Some go and just look at the OT as an overall covenant, but if you look at every time God chose some one, He said and this
is the covenant I make with you.

.1. The Noahic Covenant – Genesis 9
<img class="alignright size-full wp-image-1011" alt="Noahic Covenant" src="http://reasonabletheology.org/wp-content/uploads/Noahic-Covenant.jpg" width="275" height="275" />
After having sent a global flood to destroy the wickedness that had become so prevalent on earth after the Fall, God promised Noah (and by extension all humanity) to never again destroy the world with a flood.Genesis 9:11 | “I establish my covenant with you, that never again shall all flesh be cut off by the waters of the flood, and never again shall there be a flood to destroy the earth”
This is an example of a Royal Grant covenant; there is nothing that Noah or his descendants must do to ensure that this promise is fulfilled. Instead it finds its validity purely in God’s faithfulness.

2. The Abrahamic Covenant – Genesis 12
Genesis 12:1-3 | “Now the Lord had said to Abram: ‘Get out of your country, from your family and from your father’s house, to a land that I will show you. I will make you a great nation; I will bless you and make your name great; and you shall be a blessing. I will bless those who bless you, and I will curse him who curses you; and in you all the families of the earth shall be blessed.’”
Years after the Flood, pride leads the people to rebel against God by constructing the tower of Babel. After having dispersed them by confusing their languages, God would eventually choose one man and one nation as the instrument of His blessing to the entire world. In this covenant God promised Abraham three specific things:
1. He will be made into a great nation (12:2).
2. This nation will be led into the Promised Land (12:1).
3. Through him (Abraham) all people of the earth will be blessed (12:3).
The Abrahamic Covenant is in part a Suzerain-Vassal covenant, as God required first that Abraham get up, leave his home and his family, and follow God to the land He would show him (Gen. 12:1). However, some aspects of the Abrahamic covenant are also in line with an unconditional Royal Grant. For example, God’s promise to make Abraham’s descendants into a great nation and bless all of the nations through his lineage is an unconditional promise from God (22:15-18).

3. The Mosaic Covenant – Exodus 19
This passage is key to understanding both redemptive history and the history of Israel as a nation. A conditional promise, the Mosaic Covenant is dependent on the peoples’ response to the law He gives through His servant Moses.
“Now therefore, if you will indeed obey My voice and keep My covenant, then you shall be a special treasure to Me above all people; for all the earth is Mine. And you shall be to Me a kingdom of priests and a holy nation.’ These are the words which you shall speak to the children of Israel.” – Exodus 19:5-6
God tells Moses that if Israel obeys, they will be His chosen people, His treasured possession. Ultimately, these blessings will be extended to all people. This conditional promise is a Suzerain-Vassal covenant and brings Israel closer to realizing the promises made by God in the Abrahamic Covenant.

4. The Davidic Covenant – 2 Samuel 7
After the people disobeyed the commands made in the previous covenant, God made the Davidic covenant as a means to bring them back into relationship with Himself. The key passage for this unconditional promise is 2 Samuel 7:12-17. Here God makes a Royal Grant covenant to David and his descendants that his house will rule over Israel forever.
The promise of an eternal kingdom is ultimately fulfilled in Christ, who is of David’s kingly lineage. In the New Testament, Luke 1:30-33 tells us:
“Then the angel said to her, ‘Do not be afraid, Mary, for you have found favor with God. And behold, you will conceive in your womb and bring forth a Son, and shall call His name Jesus. He will be great, and will be called the Son of the Highest; and the Lord God will give Him the throne of His father David. And He will reign over the house of Jacob forever, and of His kingdom there will be no end.’”
Although this is an unconditional covenant, there is a part of it which has a contingency: if the ruler of Israel is obedient, he will be blessed. If not, he will be cursed. As the books of 1 & 2 Kings and 1 & 2 Chronicles show us, Israel had many examples of both disobedient and obedient kings, which eventually lead to the nation’s exile.

Genesis 38:15 When Judah saw her, he thought she was a prostitute, for she had covered her face.

Exodus 34:15 “Be careful not to make a treaty with those who live in the land; for when they prostitute themselves to their gods and sacrifice to them, they will invite you

Leviticus 17:7 They must no longer offer any of their sacrifices to the goat idols to whom they prostitute themselves. This is to be a lasting ordinance for them and for the generations to come.’

Deuteronomy 23:18 You must not bring the earnings of a female prostitute or of a male prostitute into the house of the Lord your God to pay any vow, because the Lord your God detests them both.

Deuteronomy 31:16 And the Lord said to Moses: “You are going to rest with your ancestors, and these people will soon prostitute themselves to the foreign gods of the land they are entering. They will forsake me and break the covenant I made with them.

Hosea 1:2 When the Lord began to speak through Hosea, the Lord said to him, “Go, marry a promiscuous woman and have children with her, for like an adulterous wife this land is guilty of unfaithfulness to the Lord.”

9 “Therefore I will take away my grain when it ripens,
and my new wine when it is ready.
I will take back my wool and my linen,
intended to cover her naked body.
10 So now I will expose her lewdness
before the eyes of her lovers;
no one will take her out of my hands.

John 10:29 My Father, who has given them to me, is greater than all; no one can snatch them out of my Father’s hand.

Israel and Adultery
Jeremiah 3:6 During the reign of King Josiah, the LORD said to me, "Have you seen what faithless Israel has done? She has gone up on every high hill and under every spreading tree and has committed adultery there.
Jeremiah 3:8 I gave faithless Israel her certificate of divorce and sent her away because of all her adulteries. Yet I saw that her unfaithful sister Judah had no fear; she also went out and committed adultery.
Jeremiah 29:23 For they have done outrageous things in Israel; they have committed adultery with their neighbors' wives and in my name have spoken lies, which I did not tell them to do. I know it and am a witness to it," declares the LORD.
Hosea 4:15 "Though you commit adultery, O Israel, let not Judah become guilty. "Do not go to Gilgal; do not go up to Beth Aven. And do not swear, 'As surely as the LORD lives!'
Spiritual Prostitution

Do you want to know the differences between spiritual and physical prostitution? Ask Hosea, he should be able to tell you.

While Christ died for the sins of the entire world that doesn't mean everyone is saved or united to Him. Jesus was merely paying the debt of everyone's sin so they can receive the free gift.
And it seems to me this is not done in you, so I ask is it done in you by Yeshua or are you in the effort to make it be?

The blood of goats and bulls never took away sin.
Exactly, and is why Christ came to take sin away, purging our conscience's from sin

So is your conscience purged from sin yet by Christ's final sacrifice and final forgiveness in his shed blood for you?

First, Ad Hominems are employed by Christians who seek to uplift themselves by pushing other people down. They are bully's. You remember how bully's made you feel in school by calling you names and pushing you down and laughing at you? They are unloving and un-Christ like. Un-Christian. Jesus talked about how believers would be persecuted. This was not just a physical persecution at times, but a verbal persecution for the Scriptures say they shall say all manner of evil against you. What are you doing?

Second, the NASB is a corrupt Bible. Granted, I use Modern Translations to update the language sometimes, but if you were to look at Revelation 13:1, you should ask yourself the question was it John standing on the seashore (With him, calling himself "I") or was it the devil (dragon) standing on the seashore. Reading Genesis 22 should give you that answer.

Third, you have still failed to explain the morality of how God could break His own Law or a reason to why He had changed it in this instance. See, I understand why God told Peter to eat unclean animals. This was because the Old Testament Law of Moses was fulfilled in Jesus Christ upon the cross. They were now under a New Testament or New Covenant with new rules. In other words, if I am such a fool who rejects understanding, then why on Earth can't you explain to me the simple basic morality of God in this instance of Him telling Hosea to marry a prostitute? I am sorry. I spiritual parallel does not make it all better. It is still wrong and you know it deep down. That's why you are attacking me. For if God could have told Hosea to marry a prostitute, then God can tell you to marry a gay person today. And in your mind you would have to accept it because God had did it once before. But my God does not justify evil under any circummstance. My God is good and He is not evil.
Bottom line I see in reality whether or not you do, is not m business, but you are questioning God and I say watch out, I pray for your blessing to become a reality, and get set free to just trust God an not ? Yeweh For no matter what anything appears as to be, is our misunderstanding of Yeweh's righteousness all in all
God is the only one good period and you by this post of yours, creates doubt, but I know Go is faithful forever and righteous forever in all God doers or says
God said it, an whoever believes God then it is settled

All I hear is God is good from you on one hand and no explanation as to the goodness of how God could tell Hosea to marry a prostitute on the other hand (Which would be an immoral act). You have not even remotely have begun to describe the morality of such an action. You just believe God can do anything (Including something we know to be morally wrong and even when it breaks His own Law which would still be in effect at that time). Stop and think for a moment. Do you believe there is a standard of morality that God abides by? Yes or no? What does your belief about Hosea 1:2 say about your God if you cannot trust in the steadfast unchanging nature of His goodness?
You sound exactly like that Serpent that tricked Eve in the Garden. God I sovereign, and is the creator, am his creation an I do not ? God
Please about what you are stirring up, and possibly making God mad, now be thankful to Christ shed blood for you, seeking the Mercy God provides for us through Son

No, 1 Corinthians 6 is talking about spiritual fornication versus being married to the Lord which is at the heart of the book of Hosea.

2 Corinthians 11:2
"For I am jealous over you with godly jealousy: for I have espoused you to one husband, that I may present you as a chaste virgin to Christ."

2 Corinthians 6:14
"...for what fellowship hath unrighteousness with righteousness?"

As for 1 Corinthians 7 saying that we are not to divorce our unbelieving spouses (Which I believe), that does not mean we are to go out and marry unbelievers, though. For the union was already made. But 1 Corinthians 7 also says if the unbelieving departs, let them depart. In other words, this union is not the same type of bond that is created between a believing couple in Christ.

You do not even realize what you are doing. But this another topic, though. For you attack me instead of presenting Scripture and in explaining the goodness of God's actions on this topic. If you want to attack me by questioning my salvation, start another thread. This thread is about God telling Hosea to marry a Prostitute.

Yes, it is. But it is not the OSAS version (Which teaches I can sin and still be saved), though. I believe that this is at the heart of why God could not tell Hosea to marry a prostitute. Because the heart of this issue is an acknowledgment of God's goodness and proper morality. For those who believe in Calvinism, believe that God can directly create evil and create people to be either saved or unsaved (i.e. Forced Salvation). Those who believe in OSAS believe God will allow you to do evil in His name (i.e. Forced Salvation). Both are doctrines of devils that ignores the goodness of our God. That is why I believe some folks here are having a hard time with Hosea 1:2. In other words, they may say "God is good" with their mouths, but their heart is far from Him and they don't actually believe God is truly good deep down. God's goodness is like some big mystery to them. As for others: Well, I think they are having trouble with coming to terms with believing God has a trust worthy moral standard of good that we can trust and explain plainly.

Well, you say what you do because you do not understand. For I believe you are basing this idea off of one false interpretational reading of Hosea 1:2. You have no other verse in Scripture that proves or backs up your false view on this passage. I say this because Scripture always testifies of Scripture (i.e. cross references). See, I have verses (i.e. context) that back up my reading of Hosea 1:2. That is something that you don't have, my friend.

Anyways, do not take my word for it, but please seek the Scriptures like a good Berean to see whether these things be so or not.

May peace, blessings, and love be unto you from the Lord Jesus Christ this fine day.

No dear sir. I am questioning your false interpretion of God (Based on this verse that leaves God's goodness as if it was some kind of big mystery) and I am not questioning the simple goodness of My God (that everyone can know) as He is described plainly within the Holy Scriptures.

For how in the world can you tell the good guys from the bad guys when you watch a movie or when you turn on the news? Yes, these people may not be saved, but we know good from evil in this world by what people do. For if you were to ever look at the teachings of Jesus Christ, not once did He ever approve of anyone doing evil in His good name. Neither did any of the apostles approve of doing evil or sin in God's name. Again, I believe that this is at the heart of the issue of properly understanding Hosea 1:2.

In other words, if people's moral compasses are off (By ignoring the goodness of our God), then they are going to come to false conclusions about God, various different truths, and doctrine within the Holy Scriptures.

To Jason, The Cult of Fundamentalism teaches that : "God is is good all the time". This is false! God is VERY BAD to human as well as VERY GOOD to humans, all the time. This is the Bible's teaching, VERY obvious, God was not GOOD to millions who died in the Flood of Noah's day. etc. etc. So, lets hear the whole truth of Rom. 11:22 "Therefore consider the goodness and the severity of God: on those who fell, severity; but toward you, goodness, if you continue in His goodness. Otherwise you also will be cut off." (Heaven is goodness, Hell is severity) (keep in mind,"if you continue" is said to the Gentiles as a whole, not individuals. AS, Israel, as a nation was set aside for a time, lost, but will be saved ,as a nation, at Jesus 2nd coming.) Love Hoffco

In the situation of Hosea, the message to Israel superseded the wisdom of choosing a faithful and blameless wife.
Just as taking an ox from a pit supersedes the Sabbath rest.
Just as the conquest of Canaan superseded the command to "not kill".
Just as David and his men eating the holy food superseded the Law.

Does an emergency vehicle follow the speed limit?
Does a police officer obey gun bans in the city?

God's purpose was saving more than just one injured man, and He can use whatever method He deems worthy to save His People.
You are wrongfully mixing God's laws with man's laws. Yes, we are to be obey the law of the land if they do not conflict with God's Laws because it was God who placed all nations into power. For when we obey the law of the land we are submitting to the authority of God. But these laws are not eternal moral laws that were created directly by God. There will be no speed limit signs in Heaven or the Millennium, or the Eternal New Earth. None of God's eternal moral laws that are shown within His Word are alterable. It's always wrong to murder, rape, steal, get drunk, fornicate, etc.

No, no. Pretty sure murder, lying, fornication, drunkenness, hate, witchcraft, cheating, etc is always wrong no matter the situation or circumstance.
Let us look at this list, and see which ones are absolute morals, and which ones have times and seasons.

Murder is commanded several times in Scripture, in varying degrees and forms.
These commands preceded the Conquest of Canaan, included All of the Conquest of Canaan, and continued long after the Conquest of Canaan into the time of Judges, Kings, and Prophets.
"There is a time to kill". Yes, even murder is not an absolute.

Lying is found justified in the following Scriptures as either being directed by God, inspired by God, or deemed right in the sight of God.
2 Kings 8:10
1 Kings 22:22
Jeremiah 38:24-27
1 Sam 16:1-5,
21:1-3,
27:8-12
Even lying is not an absolute.

I am responding for the sake of others who are reading this, not to the OP.

To my old friend, Homwardbound, I am glad you are still among the living. Do you believe, all people are saved, because Jesus died for all people ,and Jesus death need not be receive to be effectual for the sinners? My Bible says,"to as many as received Him,". Love Hoffco

To Jason, there are not moral prohibitions in Heaven, Because there are no sinners in Heaven and there is no sex in Heaven. The commands are all positive in Heaven and on the new earth. And we will not be ruling over anyone in Heaven and there is no CLASS system on the new earth, even Jesus will not be ruling anymore, He gives all authority back to God. The rewards for Christians will only be for our rule, with Christ on this old earth, each will have a different level of ruler ship. Love Hoffco

To Kennethcadwell and Jason, and to all who do not believe in the eternal Security of God's Elect, as taught in Romans 8:29-30 and all through out the Bible. It is the THEME of the whole Bible. I call it, The Eternal Covenant of God's Grace. NO one will be saved unless they are eternally loved (foreknow by God)and chosen by God for salvation. This is an unconditional covenant but also conditional upon our Repentance ,Faith and Holiness in persevering in holiness to be saved. Don't try to figure it,or God, out, just believe and honor Him as God almighty. Love Hoffco
