Just to clarify, there is a difference between valid and obligated/commanded/directed.

Are you saying Christians are obligated/commanded/directed to be physically circumcised?
AsI stated earlier..

So let's make sure the score is really 5-1 and not 6-0.
You are asking that we fit scripture into computer like answers and it can't be done. Scripture speaks in spirit and truth, and how that relates to the physical world. It will not translate into purely yes/no, on/off sort of computer thought.

So if someone you were discipling came to you and asked...

Am I obligated to by physically circumcised?

What would you answer with?

Would you have an answer?

Does God tells us to circumcise? Yes.

Are we obligated to do it for some sort of purpose other than pleasing God and as a sign to us? No.

Actually most studies in the last five years show no correlation between circumcision and health benefits. The only reason why it was done was to keep said area clean from infection because people didn't have the knowledge to clean themselves like they do now but since most people these days know how to bathe properly, it isn't so required for health reasons.
That is definitely a trendy belief nowadays. Not entirely accurate, but trendy.

It depends on who you ask. Recently, there's been a strong movement saying there aren't health benefits of circumcision over not doing it. It's by no means a consensus, and still behind the support for doing it.

No, Christians are not required to be physically circumcised. Maybe you should have made a poll if your keeping count.

Galatians 5:2
Behold I, Paul, say to you that if you receive circumcision, Christ will be of no benefit to you.

Galatians 5:6
For in Christ Jesus neither circumcision nor uncircumcision means anything, but faith working through love.

Romans 2:28

For he is not a Jew who is one outwardly, nor is circumcision that which is outward in the flesh.

8-1.5 ...I believe

No one is ordered to be circumcised, but there are health benefits to being so. Shall I say it more easily cleaned that to not be.

If you wat to be circumcised, be circumcised. If you don't, then don't.

however, If you think you MUST be circumcised to be saved, you are LOST.

...Scripture does not obligate Christians to be physically circumcised.
Scripture does not command Christians to be physically circumcised.
Scripture does not direct Christians to be physically circumcised.

I guess this discussion can be answered easily.

Are Christians obligated, commanded, directed to be physically circumcised?
Christianity is not a dictatorship but a love relationship.

Everything Christians do should be done out of love for our Lord.

Well having been whacked when I was 8 days old in New Mexico I will answer the following.....

1. Circumcision was in the O.T. the OUTWARD sing of the INWARD covenant between God and Abraham/Abraham's SEED I.E. the lineage of faith......It did not save them, but rather (separated) them from those around them who were not participants in the covenant of faith.

2. Under the New Covenant baptism is now the outward sign of the inward covenant as applied unto believers and states to the world that you have died with Christ, been buried with Christ and resurrected in Christ as a new creation in Christ Jesus....

Does not Paul cover this in Galatians and other books as well in various form or fashion......So......seems to me that Baptism has overtaken circumcision as the OUTWARD sign of an inward act of faith.......

Anyway, fully expect the LAWyers to argue.........!

Perfect example of people really not reading what people say:

No one is ordered to be circumcised, but there are health benefits to being so. Shall I say it more easily cleaned that to not be.

Example of someone having read what someone said:

Kerry, James agreed with you completely.

Read the post again.
