To put it bluntly some people just need to learn when to shut up :)

  • Watch your tongue and keep your mouth shut, and you will stay out of trouble. Pr 21:23

  • Set a guard over my mouth, LORD; keep watch over the door of my lips. Ps 141:3

  • My dear brothers and sisters, take note of this: Everyone should be quick to listen, slow to speak and slow to become angry, because human anger does not produce the righteousness that God desires. James 1:19-20

  • Those who consider themselves religious and yet do not keep a tight rein on their tongues deceive themselves, and their religion is worthless. James 1:26

  • Too much talk leads to sin. Be sensible and keep your mouth shut. Pr 10:19

  • Whoever restrains his words has knowledge... Pr 17:27A

So I've been sitting here for several minutes debating whether I am one of these condemners you speak of. (Removing the plank and all.) I suppose it's possible I have been, and if so, I repent. I would not want someone to turn away from fellowship because of unkindness I may have typed.

The times I can recall being scathing were when someone was being judgmental and condemning, in fact. I get a little crappy about that, I admit. It is among my list of pet peeves. None of us were sent here to be the judge, nor were we admonished to verbally abuse our brethren. One whose feet I am not fit to wash has been given the job of judging. My job is to tell others about Messiah and live a life that reflects him, and so it is every believer's job.

I will take this to heart. Thanks for the deep thoughts.

We dont have to try so hard because eventually our sinful nature will compromise us, but everytime our words hurt others we must apologize quickly. We are here to help each other. If you cant help others, at least dont hurt them.

no matter how staunch, zealous, and right the defender of the Faith is,
evil communications corrupt good manners.'

may our communications always continue in God's Spirit of brotherly love,
even when our 'hackles' rise-up and we feel a flush creeping up.

here is one speaking from much experience,
I have learned that 'self=control is a beautiful fruit of the Spirit,
one that should be much sought after.

as it is written, 'I die daily.'

oh, and thank you Father, for giving us all a sense of humour!

Keeping in mind that Paul did not appear loving when defending the gospel against a false gospel of works.

Nor did Jesus when dealing with the Phairsees' perversion of God's revelation.

Some things were given absolutely no quarter with Jesus or Paul, but were adamantly rejected.

So as Angela says, if you can't take the heat, perhaps you should not be in the kitchen
defending the gospel of grace against those who would corrupt it.
i totally agree...some people on this forum simply can't wrap their brains around the fact that their obvious delusions and blatantly false doctrines are not automatically entitled to a formal point by point rebuttal with bibliography just because they made a post on the internet...

then they play the victim and complain that they are being insulted when their detractors are merely using their God given common sense...

Okay since everyone is agreeing that sometimes we need to shut up all of you be silent while I talk, this way I can go on about how amazing my kitty is and you all have to sit there and listen. Groan all you want you have to sit there and listen and if anyone speaks I spray you with my spray bottle.

People here start with love. When the debate getting hot, we forget about love, and it is happen to almost everybody, me include.

To keep cool is not easy job. Only if we remember that Jesus said the greatest law is love your God as much as you can and love your neighbor like yourself.

What ever we do, though you surrender yourself to be burn, without love is nothing.

1 Corinthian 13.

It may get a little heated sometimes, but when its over we can forgive, and forget, move on and talk about the love of Jesus.
