If your feeling offended, 1 Corinthians chapter 6 is a good read. Not all offenses come from bad, the truth hurts sometimes, and truth is good.Jesus offended many, i don't think the rich young man was the only one that went away sad. People was always wanting to toss Jesus off a cliff or something, because of what Jesus told them. In no way am i condoning disrespect to others, people just need to not be so hasty to run, after a while things just bounce off, like i'm rubber you're glue. Just shake it off, like Paul shook off the serpent.

I think it is important to identify those that cause contention and follow what the Bible says by avoiding them. If those people who cause adversity are not listened to, and avoided, they will eventually realize that their nasty demeaning comments are not being heeded. Following the scripture that says to avoid these people will enhance edification in the truth and also bring peace to this site. This site could be very good if this was done by all who sincerely want the truth in Christ Jesus. Keep in mind, those that cause adversity with nasty remarks are not being lead by the Spirit of peace.

Romans 16:17 see below in my signature.

Sounds an awful lot like trying to silence those who disagree with you,
because you want no objections presented to what you state.

We'd all like that, so "division" is in the eye of the beholder,
depending on whose ox is being gored.

Bingo! Won't mention names, but it's not "Christ-like" the mantra, the straw man, translated, to disagree with error, or call a spade a spade, even point out real doctrines from hell, from false prophets, some people are spreading. People who buy this take on Christ have apparently never read Matthew 23. Translated, what they're really saying is thou shalt not disagree, with me. Or my cult. Thou shalt not shine a light on anything.

How to defend scripture when it is attacked, without offending the one who is attacking scripture is very difficult.

There are people on CC who I personally love very much, whose welfare is in my prayers for them, but who constantly harp on such things as that Moses is to be ignored, and if we work for the Lord we are wrong, etc. Some people take personal offence when I show them scripture. I have been personally called every name in the book and threatened. I don't personally take offense at that, for even Christ endured such things, but it is done.

the people who are attacking this idea feel that the Lord's instruction to us that faith and grace is the only way to salvation is being threatened by Moses and works. They are sincere, many are not trying to personally harm me but they feel that they are standing up for scripture. It is absolutely true what they say about faith and grace, except for the word only they add, so their side also needs to be said.

All this needs to be worked out on CC, how can we do this in love? I hope my love for all who love Christ comes through, but often it doesn't seem to.

Well, when you quote me and then say:
it looks aimed at whoever you quote.
In truth it was "aimed" at you and anyone else who keeps bringing the subject up. Forgiveness can not easily be given when a matter continues to be brought up.

I'm glad God doesn't keep reminding us of our infractions!!! He casts them as far as the east is from the west and he remembers them NO MORE. Maybe if we could apply this then peace would be more easily attained.

I am right here! You and I understand scripture very differently, you love the Lord and so do I. I think you and I have love for each other, I certainly often even speak to the Lord about caring and protecting one who loves Him as you do. Yet, when you say "nope" so often, it makes my heart hurt. You truly feel you need to correct me, and I truly feel I should correct you. Neither of us has done this without love. Both are following our heart both for each other and for the truth we both feel so strongly about. Shouldn't we both keep doing this, both humble before the Lord, even if we see what the Lord says differently?

Now I beseech you, brethren, mark them which cause divisions and offences contrary to the doctrine which you have learned; and avoid them.

In all actuality there was nothing divisive or contrary to doctrine but a disagreement over a definition of a word and an off handed remark about the Strong's Concordance. . . . No where touching DOCTRINE.

Please, can't you see that you are saying that there is a subject of scripture you do not want brought up, only the ones you want? You are giving forgiveness only on condition of someone changing to your demands.

How would you feel if someone told you that you may not express a certain aspect of scripture you thought was important?

The BDF is only one of many forums on CC. The tone here can get competitive and even a bit nasty at times, but people should realize that dearly cherished Bible dogmas are not going to be given up without a fight.

If things get hot here, then get out of the kitchen. I would suggest the Prayer Forum, where the threads often run to 3 or 4 posts. I know we could all benefit from praying for the needs expressed, instead of duking it out here or leaving.

Of course, we could also work on arguing in love, if there is such a thing!
Very true. I've been on many sites similar to this, and some secular ones since they began on the internet. I've watched members post into the thousands, then get offended and join another group. There they do the same thing all over. I've done it many times. It finally came to me to just ignore words that offend. Cast down evil imaginations. Don't let it get to you. Keep to a holy conversation. There might be some favorite subjects to engage in, but I've learned some topics are without end of mean statements. Put in your opinion then dodge the next word-fist. Refuse to argue. Don't complain.

] There are scriptures we can go to that says the very same thing. At the same time are scriptures about speaking the truth!

We are in the last days, and demons are even speaking through people who think they have scripture on their side, yet are telling everyone not to listen to scripture, and they pick out what scriptures they say not to listen to. Often, they don't have a clue that it is wrong to do this. Can we follow Christ and refuse to argue?

This is how problems start and grow bigger:

There is a way to do so without causing such a horribly nasty mess such what has been going on on the"What Did The Jews Receive First" and "Need Input without arguing concerning Strong's Concordance" for the last few days.
Yes there is . . . and it is NOT by continually bringing up the instance again and again and again and again, etc.

DROP IT!
Before accusing others, you might want to make sure you have your facts straight as to who started what. Would be better to say nothing.
I haven't accused anyone of anything.

Is there any accusation toward anyone in this statement: Yes there is . . . and it is NOT by continually bringing up the instance again and again and again and again, etc? It was supposed to be a solution to the ONGOING arguing.

I was in the original conversation; I can see for myself WHO keeps bringing up the "HORRIBLY NASTY MESS" - if not directly then indirectly.

Nice of you to admit it, finally. Everyone can see how stuff gets brought up over and over again and things picked out from scriptures given to deliberately cause trouble. We need to beware of who we tend to become followers of in here. Here’s a hint – Elin created a big stink about Strong’s Concordance being pagan and when it got out of hand, made the ridiculous statement that it was “all a joke.” And here she goes again, never ending.

Now, I am not joking when I say this to you. There are many people in cc who suffer from spiritual/Christian myopia, and I am afraid for most of them, it is too late to repair the damage. I believe that you can still recover if your desire is strong enough.

you know what? Someone made a suggestion to have the bible discussion forum deleted because there is so much hatred and anger and squabbling in here. Satan is having a field day in here, and alot of posts that I have seen, they say they feel his spirit in here. I hope the mods take this suggestion to heart, because alot of members truly are scared to set foot in this forum. What does that say to new people when they see a post that says the bible forum is horrid so stay out of it? If ya don't like what someone says, put them on ignore!! Don't go around in a vicious circle and dispute why their wrong and you're right. That gets you nowhere and it gives the devil plenty of fuel to feed his hateful fire with.

I wish people would take note of the scripture in my signature.
