I'm going to start a Thread...

'' Why christians shouldn't look up at the stars''.
With the argument , 'that by doing so, we are acknowledging the Zodiac'.

-same logic
And by the same logic we should not go to the moon, Mars or any other planet around here because they were all worshipped as gods. And we shouldn't have cats, they were once worshipped as gods. Neither should we have anything to do with rivers... you have no IDEA how many different civilizations worshipped rivers as gods. And we should stay indoors at all times, lest anyone think we are worshipping the sun god. And the list goes on and on and on...

Actually, the zodiac is of God, it's just been abused by the nations.

1Then the LORD answered Job out of the whirlwind, and said:
2 "Who is this who darkens counsel By words without knowledge?
3 Now prepare yourself like a man; I will question you, and you shall answer Me.
4 "Where were you when I laid the foundations of the earth? Tell Me, if you have understanding.
5 Who determined its measurements? Surely you know! Or who stretched the line upon it?
6 To what were its foundations fastened? Or who laid its cornerstone,
7 When the morning stars sang together, And all the sons of God shouted for joy?
8 "Or who shut in the sea with doors, When it burst forth and issued from the womb;
9 When I made the clouds its garment, And thick darkness its swaddling band;
10 When I fixed My limit for it, And set bars and doors;
11 When I said,`This far you may come, but no farther, And here your proud waves must stop!'
12 "Have you commanded the morning since your days began, And caused the dawn to know its place,
13 That it might take hold of the ends of the earth, And the wicked be shaken out of it?
14 It takes on form like clay under a seal, And stands out like a garment.
15 From the wicked their light is withheld, And the upraised arm is broken.
16 "Have you entered the springs of the sea? Or have you walked in search of the depths?
17 Have the gates of death been revealed to you? Or have you seen the doors of the shadow of death?
18 Have you comprehended the breadth of the earth? Tell Me, if you know all this.
19 "Where is the way to the dwelling of light? And darkness, where is its place,
20 That you may take it to its territory, That you may know the paths to its home?
21 Do you know it, because you were born then, Or because the number of your days is great?
22 "Have you entered the treasury of snow, Or have you seen the treasury of hail,
23 Which I have reserved for the time of trouble, For the day of battle and war?
24 By what way is light diffused, Or the east wind scattered over the earth?
25 "Who has divided a channel for the overflowing water, Or a path for the thunderbolt,
26 To cause it to rain on a land where there is no one, A wilderness in which there is no man;
27 To satisfy the desolate waste, And cause to spring forth the growth of tender grass?
28 Has the rain a father? Or who has begotten the drops of dew?
29 From whose womb comes the ice? And the frost of heaven, who gives it birth?
30 The waters harden like stone, And the surface of the deep is frozen.
31 "Can you bind the cluster of the Pleiades, Or loose the belt of Orion?
32 Can you bring out Mazzaroth in its season? Or can you guide the Great Bear with its cubs?
33 Do you know the ordinances of the heavens? Can you set their dominion over the earth?
34 "Can you lift up your voice to the clouds, That an abundance of water may cover you?
35 Can you send out lightnings, that they may go, And say to you,`Here we are!'? (Job 38:2-35 NKJ)

The Mazzaroth is the Zodiac.

Dude, that's a straw man. The point that was made was the use of those things in worship. No one is saying a river is evil. However, if it was used in pagan worship then the Jews were not to use it in worship of God.

Why is it that when people don't have an argument they resort to straw men?

In the same manner the celebration of Christ's birth is of God and has been abused but that shouldn't prevent us from celebrating Christmas that way or look up at the stars.

But can we not worship God and praise Him for said "river" whether ignorant of the pagan's use of the river.

true enough, however if it's christmas we are talking about..the origins of christmas are vast and growing. are we to ignore new findings when we see clearly what we once thought to be good is just another lie from satan? don't we now know that Messiah was born during "this" time of year and not middle of winter? As time allows information to surface, things God once winked at because of ignorance, will He continue to wink at?

can they look up at the stars?

yes I lookup and marvel at times the vast knowledge it took to make it.

I remember the days of old; "I meditate" on all thy works; I muse on the work of thy hands.

For enquire, I pray thee, of the former age,
and prepare thyself to the search of their fathers:
Even the mystery which hath been hid from ages and
from generations, but now is made manifest to his saints:

The secret of the Lord is with them that fear him;
and he will shew them his covenant.

The next thing you will hear is that there were actually 3 wise men

No where in the Bible does it say Three wise men. Its just another false doctrine that shows how false teachings are so deeply intrenched into there belief system, bringing force to there own lies and destruction. That's coming from the Bible.

And these star gazers and of false gods whom they worship, weren't even at place or time of Jesus Birth

Jesus Never celebrated his birth-day and never commanded us to do so.

There is no indication in the Scriptures that faithful worshipers ever indulged in the pagan practice of annually celebrating birthdays.

The picture scene at Jesus birth is false, all together people need to get a grip on Truth.

God did not like the wise men at all, he condemns those type of people. They were practice-rs of magic and star gazers that did not worship the true God Jehovah

(Deuteronomy 18:10-12) There should not be found in you anyone who makes his son or his daughter pass through the fire, anyone who employs divination, anyone practicing magic, anyone who looks for omens, a sorcerer, 11 anyone binding others with a spell, anyone who consults a spirit medium or a fortune-teller, or anyone who inquires of the dead. 12 For whoever does these things is detestable to Jehovah, and on account of these detestable practices Jehovah your God is driving them away from before you.

(true we do not know how many, only 3 gifts given to a new King as custom.)

And these star gazers and of false gods whom they worship, weren't even at place or time of Jesus Birth

(i believe these wise men where from God looking for a sign,not bad men.)

Jesus Never celebrated his birth-day and never commanded us to do so.

(true)

(true ,but the bible shows a couple birthdays celebrated by pagan kings that ended bad.)

the picture scene at Jesus birth is false, all together people need to get a grip on Truth.

(true at the manger the wise men where not there,much later at the inn they showed)

(these wise men lead the king that wanted Jesus dead astray and not tell him.)

I believe mary is worshiped wrong also by the church

the pre-holiday stress, the post-holiday depression and the years it
might take gift-givers to dig their way out of credit card debt.

Christmas is little more than a highly commercialized, decidedly secular event
that is associated far more with shopping malls and binge-drinking parties

for law enforcement officials, the Christmas season is
the busiest and most dangerous time of the year.

the Christmas season is the reason for sharp increases in all sorts of criminal behavior:
drunk driving, domestic abuse, thievery, scams, and so on.

sueside is at its highest this time of year, so is a lot of family fights.

most of the known world celebrates x-mas, and most lies to there kids about it,
and give gifts to kids that do not listen to there parents anymore.

just because a new King came to us, why give each other gifts that he deserves.
bible says to honor the passover and keep his feast day, i believe we should.

but man’s mind, as it says in Romans 8:7, is hostile to God’s law.
if God’s law actually commanded us to observe Christmas,
there would be a lot less people doing it!

and you are free to do as you wish

So, when God called them through an astronomical sign...He was being against Himself?

Mary is not to be worshipped at all. She was a human. She was a sinner, as all humans are. She is not and was not, a god OR God himself. She is not a saint, nor an entity to be prayed to, worshipped, or anything else. What she was, was Jesus' earthly mother, and in that regard she should be respected, but certainly not worshipped or prayed to. It is GOD that hears and answers our prayers, NOT Mary.. Christians don't worship her anyway, it's the Catholic's that mistakenly do.

Do you wear a wedding ring? Did you have a traditional wedding? Do you use the names of the days of the week like everyone else? These are just a few of the normal behaviors Christians include themselves in that actually have pagan roots to them. Society is filled with nods towards ancient paganism, and Christians participate them. I hope for your sake, if you're going to make such a loud rant against pagan histories, you have made a person choice to cleat out ALL pagan roots from your life. Not just the ones that are convenient for you to make ranting posts at others about.

Why is it that when people don't have an argument they resort to straw men?
Why is it that professional argument makers resort to insults and accusations? Because they don't want to admit anyone can make a good point besides themselves.

And for that matter, why do you assume I am trying to find arguments? That seems to be your job. I don't have to have an argument, I'm just throwing wood on the fire. :cool:
