????? not sure how your response is directed to me. I stated we should speak up for what is right, but this is really going to derail this thread if we go into politics.....

what would have happened if we had not dropped the bomb on Hiroshima and Nagasaki amd killed millions of people? David a man after Gods own heart killed more men than any one in history so much so that God would not allow him to build His temple.
So God held David somewhat accountable even as the cross is from the foundation of the Earth. From your definition, David is innocent of all unrighteousness is truth, I wonder if only of that he is repentant of it, and God's judgement could well have brought him to that repentance while the cross does offer him ultimate absolution.

IT is the cross my friend, Abraham believed God and it was accounted unto him as righteousness was it not? Jesus said that Abraham saw my day and rejoiced and was glad. Abraham's faith was in the cross where should yours be? Good night

So America planned on killing 6 million innocent Jew? are you mad. Yes we profited from the war can you find a biblical war where the winner didn't take the spoils, not until Vietnam and Afghanistan where we were the police and not an invading force which is stupid and why it cost us more that we started.
The winner is not the people who fought in them, but the corporations who profited from both sides. And yes, the powers that be had something to do with those people who are called Jews being killed. The main reason for it was to set up the state of Israel in an hostile land to profit off of yet more war.

"Thou shalt not kill" can ONLY come about by someone DOING THE KILLING FIRST. The act had to be performed in order for one to say "thou shalt not kill". Therefore this was ADDED to the true law that was originally transgressed. That again is LOVE. If we stay in that, no one would kill!
I disagree. You can certainly tell someone they should not to do something before they actually do it. (see parenting)

This brings up an interesting question....

If Abraham believed and it was credited to him as righteousness,
And if NT Believers believe and it's credited to them as righteousness,

Wouldn't that same standard apply for "under-the-law" Israel?

Exactly.

Which means there is room for salvation by grace AND living out the commands in the Law, because the 2 have different purposes.

Why would God have to say "don't kill" if no one has ever done it before? They would have no idea what He's talking about. Sure we can tell our children before they think to do it, but only because someone else has done it before, and we now know it to be wrong and what it causes.

John 5:46-47
46 For had ye believed Moses, ye would have believed me: for he wrote of me.
47 But if ye believe not his writings, how shall ye believe my words?

I think they work hand in hand according to the Words of Jesus, and the will of God.
39 You search the Scriptures because you think that in them you have eternal life; and it is they that bear witness about me, 40 yet you refuse to come to me that you may have life. (from Jn. 5)

I read in the Word that there is only One unchanging God that doesn't make mistakes.

Yep, that's right. And God did give the Law for His purposes - to show man's inability to be righteous.

The righteousness that makes us acceptable before God is a GIFT; it can never be earned, never be maintained, never acquired but by the Grace of God in the Work and High Priesthood of Christ (Rom. 3, 5, 7, 10, 2 Cor. 5, Gal. 2-5, Col. 1-2, Heb. 7-10).

The cross brings us to repentance, reconciling us to the Father. Is that the end of the story?
As far as the Law is concerned, yes:

4 Likewise, my brothers, you also have died to the law through the body of Christ, so that you may belong to another, to him who has been raised from the dead, in order that we may bear fruit for God. 5 For while we were living in the flesh, our sinful passions, aroused by the law, were at work in our members to bear fruit for death. 6 But now we are released from the law, having died to that which held us captive, so that we serve in the new way of the Spirit and not in the old way of the written code. (from Rom. 7)

1 Brothers, my heart's desire and prayer to God for them is that they may be saved. 2 For I bear them witness that they have a zeal for God, but not according to knowledge. 3 For, being ignorant of the righteousness of God, and seeking to establish their own, they did not submit to God's righteousness. 4
For Christ is the end of the law for righteousness to everyone who believes. (from Rom. 10)

I do not claim the law is my righteousness because I know the law does not bring righteousness. What is it about the law that causes people to throw up the cross at me like I am dracula because they believe God forbid that I should even mention the law, which appears to have been thrown out with the Jews? I WOULD USE FANCY FONTS TOO IF I KNEW HOW TO WORK THIS KINDLE!

Yes, and remember, Israel CHOSE the Law OVER Grace at Sinai.

God was faithful to walk with them in fellowship and provision and GRACE even though they grumbled and complained.

They refused to trust Him, however, wanting to go back to Egypt, so to show them their self-righteous 'I can do it better than God' sinfulness, God gave them the Law, which they arrogantly took on with the statement, "All that the LORD has spoken, we will do" in order to get the blessings that they were already being given under Grace in Abraham's Covenant. Extremely arrogant and foolish from folks who couldn't even follow simple instructions on how/when to pick up manna.

Why was the Law given?

Do a search in the Scriptures to find out.

What do the Scriptures say the purpose of the Law is?

Be specific and use Scripture.

Then said Jesus unto them, When ye have lifted up the Son of man, then shall ye know that I am he, and that I do nothing of myself; but as my Father hath taught me, I speak these things. John 8:28

that verse is not about the LAW of Moses, so I'm not sure why you keep quoting it.

Yes everything Jesus did He did through God's power and will, but that does not mean that the Law of Moses is the same as the Law of grace given by Christ.

The Law of grace promised to Abraham and his SEED, not seeds.

is NOT the same as the Law of Moses written/ engraved in stone, which refers to the 10 commandments and all the other mosaic laws in the Old Testament.
So I take it the you beleive the "law of Moses" didn't come from God?
Like that's what they said . . .

Sheesh.

Dracula? Alrighty then . . .

I haven't seen many of your posts, so don't know if you're a Feast, Sabbath, dietary law keeping, tzit tzit wearing believer, and don't want to assume if that's not the case.

Regardless, the Church has been mixing Law and Grace since the beginning of its creation. It's been an issue since Acts 15, and the Epistles go to great lengths to clarify for us the relationship of those who are joined to Christ to the Law: We are dead to it. Period. A better way has been introduced by which we draw near to God, because the Law made nothing perfect (Heb. 7:19). Not only does the Law make nothing perfect, it actually stirs up sinning in our lives, which is why in Christ we DIED to it.

This has nothing to do with disrespecting Israel. It has everything to do with respecting and honoring and obeying the New Covenant ratified by the very Blood of God and mediated by Him as our Perfect, Forever High Priest.

I am not that learned in Judaism to keep it like that although I am interested in its history. I watched a show recently interview a messianic Jew and his explanation that Christian had 10% of the whole picture, but he added that it was the KEY, that is the Messiah, and they had the other 90%, having been given the scriptures. Anyway he joked about they having adopted the chicken ceremony as a pathetic attempt to make up for the blood atonement that we goaded over them. I'm am not quoting him exactly, just in my limited ability to communicate the idea he articulated much better. Anyway, Christians are provoking them to jealousy as originally purposed by God's inclusion of the Gentiles, and we are witnessing their return.
