I believe that they didn't had a chance to eat from the tree of Life, it is because that it were the 7th day when all that had taken place, then on the 8th day, God had return from His rest and saw that they were hiding from Him. The devil had stopped them before they could eat from the tree of life; to me that is what it seems.

i honestly think that it did not happen in a week but over a period of time the devil had to plan the fall man because after gave man the earth to rule and not angels to rule this hatred had to build up for a while

where do you get this?
I do not believe it was the first week either though. Satan could not know mankind yet, he had to learn them. Satan is not god he is not omniscient.
Then the Lord God said, “Behold, the man has become like one of Us, to know good and evil. And now, lest he put out his hand and take also of the tree of life, and eat, and live forever”— therefore the Lord God sent him out of the garden of Eden to till the ground from which he was taken.
(Genesis 3:22-23)
i don't know; it seems like from this that they had not eaten of the tree of life. God had told them not to eat of the tree "in the midst of the garden" and that is the way both the tree of the knowledge of good & evil and the tree of life are described (Genesis 2:9 -- and no other trees were described with this particular language).
also, He says that if they eat of the tree of life, they will live forever - but because they ate of the other tree, they die. so if they had formerly eaten what gives eternal life, can this other tree take away that life? the life we have now, we know nothing can take away. but is this the same "life" ?

Proverbs 4:16 For they cannot rest until they do evil; they are robbed of sleep till they make someone stumble.
Remember, everyone had rested on that day; they didn't kept their minds on their works, but rested. If they would of have eaten from the tree, they would of have eternal life, but they were prevented or detour from eating the fruit of it. But instead they had chosen darkness over the light and which the light is the life.
