silly question in response to silly statement...all what you say is truth...but celebrating Christmas is not a command or ordinance of God...it's just a twisted pagan ritual using the name of Christ...The same Christ who died to save all those people, and now commands them to repent and be baptised for the remission of sins and they shall receive the HS...and to live righteous before God...how many of those people are living in obedience to him? so you see they are just being hypocrites why should the followers of Christ have fellowship with hypocrites encouraging them in their folly...???
Question for you, Do you BENEFIT from the pagan holiday by getting a day off WITH pay for doing no work on the holiday? If you ACCEPT PAYMENT for that holiday how is that not HYPOCRISY?

I wonder if the Creator is ok with people worshiping Him in the common manner of "Christmas ritual" I mean should that not be the number 1 concern?

I have no problem with taking a civil holiday off, which is all Christmas is in the secular world. It's the religious connotations that concern me.

I think God's okay with it, and says so in Romans 14. He's not looking to mechanics as much as He is the heart. I also think He's okay with people skipping Christmas.

What concerns God is those skipping Christmas who are judging those who observe, and those observing who are despising those who are skipping. That should be our first concern.

I think it all depends on how you celebrate. There are things like helping the homeless and the less fortunate. And then there's trying to beat someone for that high definition TV. It's the intent behind it. Just like everything else in life.

Thank you!

Great point, giving to the poor, or the less fortunate. IMO... IMO This should be promoted before any tree/gift day or what NYE can turn into for a lot of people in the world.

*Acts 20:28, "Therefore, be on guard for yourselves and the whole flock over which the Holy Spirit has made you overseers, to feed the called out ones of Yahweh, which Yahshua has purchased with His own blood."

Yahchanan (John) 4:24, "Yahweh is a Spirit and those who worship Him must worship Him in Spirit and in truth."

Deuteronomy 12:30-31, “Be careful not to be ensnared into following them by asking about their gods, saying: How did these nations serve their gods? I also will do the same. You must not worship Yahweh your Father in their way.."

It is our duty to know right from wrong.

Hosheyah 4:6, "My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge. Because you have rejected knowledge, I will also reject you, that you will be no priest to Me..."

hey your not supposed to be doing that according to Scripture. How can I let my bother fall into a pit... think about a little sheep falling into a pit and breaking his sheep leg.... how much more a human.....

I choose to not worship the creator of the universe as the Pagans worship their gods.
"Deuteronomy 12:1 1These are the statutes and judgments, which ye shall observe to do in the land, which the LORD God of thy fathers giveth thee to possess it, all the days that ye live upon the earth. 2Ye shall utterly destroy all the places, wherein the nations which ye shall possess served their gods, upon the high mountains, and upon the hills, and under every green tree: 3And ye shall overthrow their altars, and break their pillars, and burn their groves with fire; and ye shall hew down the graven images of their gods, and destroy the names of them out of that place. 4Ye shall not do so unto the LORD your God."

I choose peculiarity over social acceptance.
"Deu 14:2 For thou art an holy people unto the LORD thy God, and the LORD hath chosen thee to be a peculiar people unto himself, above all the nations that are upon the earth."

I choose the foolishness of Yah over the "wisdom" of men:
"1Co 1:25 Because the foolishness of God is wiser than men; and the weakness of God is stronger than men. "

I choose to be a tree planted next to the waters.
"Psa 1:2 But his delight is in the law of the LORD; and in his law doth he meditate day and night."

I choose truth, and to live by the example of that truth.
"John 14:6 - Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me."

I choose to be sanctified (set apart) by the truth, who is Messiah.
"John 17:19-And for their sakes I sanctify myself, that they also might be sanctified through the truth."

I will not turn away. I am not interested in fairy tales.
2 Timothy 4:4 - And they shall turn away [their] ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables.

I choose to seek his approval, instead of things, money, and esteem.
Psalm 119:127 "Therefore I love thy commandments above gold; yea, above fine gold."

I choose to harken, to receive all of the blessings promised for obedience:
"Deu 28:2 And all these blessings shall come on thee, and overtake thee, if thou shalt hearken unto the voice of the LORD thy God."

I choose to be a light, instead of spreading the darkness.
"Mat 5:14 Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid."

I'm bowing out of any and all anti-Christmas threads. They just become nasty, steaming piles of what's-it.

This thread brought me to the thought: Is I´m "wrong" and too stubborn to belive another way, Am I neglecting God will?

And why do I believe a tradition I was taught one way, when I knew I was lied, I was given present to love a season Pagan Roman culture shared and enjoyed their own motives and when I grew up I was told: "Pretend you know nothing! Othewise your parent will stop giving you presents on x-mas..."

A truth cannot be taught by lies and I took time to believe God´s teachings on the Old Testament, yet know i cannot not follow them up.

What to celebrate and what not? I celebrate GOD, His love and His Son, Jesus the Christ.

Matt,

Do you understand what that sounds like? On one hand you say Christmas is a pagan holiday but on the other hand you say that to you it is also then a CIVIL HOLIDAY. It makes it sound like you can JUSTIFY partaking of the BENEFITS of that holiday by REDEFINING your meaning of the holiday.
Do you understand that to an unbeliever it makes you sound and look like a hypocrite because at that point it sounds like you are doing a runaround the very thing you proclaim?

I volunteer to work every X-Mas. Every single one, even if I'm the only person in the building. I would only take the day off if the building was going to be closed. You know nothing about the people you are talking to. Who do you think you are pointing fingers at?

Amen.

Although I'm self-employed, I'm primarily contracted to work at Federal facilities which are all closed on "Christ Mass" day. If given the opportunity to do so, then I would have no qualms or hesitations whatsoever in relation to working on that specific day.

Amen. :) Work was closed this year, so I cleaned my kitchen. It felt great to see all the shiny cleanliness. Then I sat down and played a video game with my husband. In other words, just a day.

Your question applies to everybody who finds themselves in the same scenario as you described for Matt and this is a public forum so you ought to get used to people answering things which weren't necessarily specifically addressed to them.
