is it ok to have an opinion or is that self centred?

i would like my opinions to be centred around God and Christ not what i think as an individual

i'd talk about what i think Jesus would think if he were here, or God.

even though i know they are here in spirit.

so it would not be my opinion it would be theirs.

Hello fantasisfelice,

As God's child you would be wise to always choose to filter your thoughts through God's Word before speaking, or typing in this case, if that is what you mean.

By the way, I'm glad you are better. And remember:

2 Timothy 1:7
For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.

God bless and keep you.
Joseph

Jesus said...we speak that we do know, and testify that which we see. It's ok to have an opinion, but I personally would not spend too much time focused on what is not yet known by you, because there's so much to do.

I always try to filter my words and actions through God's word. I also try to remember that I wasn't placed on this earth to win a popularity contest.

The problem is you still have to decide what it is exactly God wants you to believe, then you will have to contend with others who have come to different conclusions. It's interesting, but somewhat frightening, that the Islamic extremists are certain they know what God wants them to think, and they are quick to enact his will upon Earth. As I perceive it, there is something of a sickness with those who think they've figured out the mind of God.

We must remember that our walk with God will be different from that of every other person and that God will give to each according to their need. God knows our hearts, doing our best is all anyone can ask. :)

I dont even think that highly of my own opinion, to care to defend having one LOL I would prefer His over mine, but sometimes if there isnt one from Him on a given thing I believe through the Spirit we are filled with enough of His goodness through which to have a godly one (for ourselves)

But even then that could be tricky depending on who you are talking to.

Is that cloud photo shopped or was that a real catch of a heart in the sky?

Having an opinion is fine but when it comes to God's Word Proverbs 3:5 "lean not on your own understanding". When reading God's Word or reading what others wrote pray for guidance through the Holy Spirit. If you truly pray for guidance and understanding and you have faith in Jesus then He will guide you to truth.

A man’s heart deviseth his way: But the LORD directeth his steps. - Proverbs 16:9

People need to form preferences and opinions. We need to make decisions. We can't be completely passive. Daily, we have decisions to make like what to wear, what to eat, which foot to put forward first when we take a step.

- shouldn't we all be believing the same thing though? that seems the most logical way as the bible has been written.

- and aren't muslims more fanatical than Christians? they pray 5 times a day as opposed to us Christians who only pray once except that it last a lot longer, one continuous prayer.
