Does anyone have any opinions on this band as a Christian band? I have my own opinion, but I am curious as to what others believe and moreso why.

I've been listening to Skillet for around fifteen years now (really got into them during Alien Youth). My favorite album by them arguably is "Collide".

One of my favorite songs by them is called "A little more". It is about how God's love can handle anything, and how God wants you to embrace his love. One of the lines is "Let the world crash, Love can take it". It's saying that even if this physical world goes to ruin, and everything falls apart, Love (God) will still remain.

Comatose is another good album, which I feel is an amazing album for people who are hurting. The Last Night can be for people who are struggling with self harm, Better than Drugs can help with addiction, These Nights can help with people with family issues, etc. The song "Whispers in the Dark" is a beautiful one, saying that God will always be with you.

Awake was not an album I really enjoyed to be honest. Not to say that it wasn't glorifying to God, I just didn't enjoy it as much as others. Felt a little too "safe", and that it didn't minister as much as others.

Rise is an interesting album as well, that it tells a story, of someone growing in faith, and going through struggles, while running the race God set for us. Salvation is one of my favorite songs in that album :).

This is just my opinion on them. I've enjoyed listening to their music over the years, and I feel it HAS helped me grow spiritually, and has comforted me through trials and rough times.

Some other bands you may like if you enjoy Skillet are RED, Thousand Foot Krutch, and Disciple (VERY rooted in Scripture, check out the song Eternity, LOVE IT). I'm sure there are other ones, but these come to mind. Hope this helps!

I love Skillet, they are just as awesome live as they are on the album. Not my favorite band of all time, but they have great sound and Cooper's voice is unmistakable. It is definitely a Christ-centered band... although this is probably conveyed most through their live performances rather than the lyrics of the songs. In the concert I went to, they explained most of the songs and how it relates to their faith - so kudos to Skillet!

Skillet is the one christian band I've listened to for as long as I can remember. My cd from them was Hey you I love your soul. They are probably the best christian rock band in the past few decades.

I'm starting to get interested in the OP's opinion. Normally threads worded like that turn quite fun.

Honestly so do i but unlike most Christian rock bands, bands like Skillet, Red, and Project 86 managed to change styles completely and that earns them respect from me purely on a musician's level.

I love skillet. :p
I think they're a great band though not every single one of their songs is considered "Christian."

I don't see it in Red or Skillet. Maybe their sounds, but they still, to me, are just radio rock.

And i've never thought of P86 as radio rock, so i don't even put them in the same category. And i think Drawing Black Lines is still their best album, so the changes aren't impressive to me personally. Though some of their other albums were still good.

Speaking of changes, check out a short in-studio clip of a new song by The Letter Black.. a bit different from their old stuff. But the question posed now is this song a change to their whole sound, or just their 'heavy song'?

Skillet? They're okay. I prefer other bands though, hahaha.

Alien Youth was a pretty good album.

I believe I heard them live last year at the Harvest Crusade at Angel Stadium. I was not impressed. Metal just is not my thing anymore, and nothing about them struck me as anything to write home about.

The do NOT represent God. They are NOT Christian. They use Christians for money and lead them to a dark path away from Christ. I have listened to their music and found it entertaining but I have NEVER listened to their music and felt the Holy Spirit moving me. They represent the devil, death, the illuminati, selfrighteousness and as seen above they use symbolism to do so. The devil is the "god of this world" and demands a sacrifice for earthly riches. They give him reverence and allow people to worship them in concert.
