James 4:7 “Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you."

My most unwelcome guest is ME! that is, my flesh. So rather than continually idolizing myself to see if I am good and holy and obedient and worthy, I instead submit (abandon) my life and my mind to Jesus Christ and resist the temptation to worship myself. And voilà ~ the adversary is gone! Jesus is faithful and able to keep me from falling.
Yes, we must die daily to self. :)

You might do well to remember that the scriptures actually written are in Hebrew. What you have in front of you is an English translation of the Hebrew. The translators in some cases could have been more specific in their translations but for readability wrote what worked instead of what was actually written.

Doing well and not doing well is the reason for the atonement. To be accepted by God one must have their sins covered.

I had heard about the interpretation you are suggesting before, so before I used these verses in a message I preached, I checked with a friend who is a Messianic Jew & Messianic Rabbi and before that She was a Rabbinical Jew/Rabbi...She said the exact opposite of what you stated and that there are many Hebrew scholars who render the word completely wrong and get goofy and state it is SIN offering..and not SIN...The Jewish oral tradition state it was SIN not a a SIN offering, she further explained that your interpretation would invalidate why CAIN killed Able...too much type and shadow here roger...Sometimes what the text says it says it means without always being a type and shadow...

Well, theres something wrong with the fonts wont size up equally, probably because I mess with them so much I have retarded html . Just adding these them, just showing patterns

Satan hath desired
to have you

Sounds similar dont it? rule over "him"

If thou doest well, shalt thou not be accepted? and if thou doest not well, sin lieth at the door. And unto thee shall be his desire, and thou shalt rule over him.

God is not who tempts, but who will not suffer you to be tempted above what you are able

There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted abovethat ye are able

Jesus led up of the Spirit "to be tempted" (of the devil)

Then was Jesus led up of the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted of the devil.

Therefore let no man say when he is tempted, I am tempted (of God) he doesnt tempt any man (shows how it goes down here)

Likewise...

Simon Simon, Behold, Satan hath desired to have you, that he may sift you

But I have prayed for thee, that thy faith fail not:

And the LORD said unto Satan, Behold, all that he hath is in thy power; only upon himself put not forth thine hand.

So Satan went forth from the presence of the LORD.

Therefore...

Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil

Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour:

Whom resist stedfast in the faith, knowing that the same afflictions are accomplished in your brethren that are in the world.

Satan desired to have Job as Simon

But put forth thine hand now, and touch all that he hath, and he will curse thee to thy face.

The temptation come through his own wife also

Then said his wife unto him, Dost thou still retain thine integrity? curse God, and die.

Whereas Job says to her...

But he said unto her, Thou speakest as one of the foolish women speaketh. What? shall we receive good at the hand of God, and shall we not receive evil?

And just so we know,

In all this did not Job sin with his lips.

Speaks of the evil day

Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.

Blessed is the man which endureth temptation, likewise...

Behold, we count them happy which endure. Ye have heard of the patience of Job,

Knowing this, that the trying of your faith worketh patience.

For verily, when we were with you, we told you before that we should suffer tribulation; even as it came to pass, and ye know.

And not only so, but we glory in tribulations also: knowing that tribulation worketh patience;

So that we ourselves glory in you in the churches of God for your patience and faith in all your persecutions and tribulations that ye endure:

Behold, we count them happy which endure

Knowing this, that the trying of your faith worketh patience.

Ye have heard of the patience of Job,

Knowing that tribulation worketh patience;

So we are appointed thereunto

That no man should be moved by these afflictions: for yourselves know that we are appointed thereunto

Which are of the devil

Whom resist stedfast in the faith, knowing that the same afflictions are accomplished in your brethren that are in the world.

And accomplished in your brethren and shown in various examples in scripture

Simon Simon, Behold, Satan hath desired to have you, that he may sift you

But I have prayed for thee, that thy faith fail not

And the LORD said unto Satan, Behold, all that he hath is in thy power; only upon himself put not forth thine hand.

So Satan went forth from the presence of the LORD.

Whom resist stedfast in the faith, knowing that the same afflictions are accomplished in your brethren that are in the world.

Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil

We told you before that we should suffer tribulation;

Okay how about this way, some what of the same with a few others in a different order

Speak of the evil day, saying

Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God,
that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.

Then Satan answered the LORD, and said, Doth Job fear God for nought?

The evil day is not in the day of the hedge as Satan points out

Hast not thou made an hedge about him, and about his house, and about all that he hath on every side? thou hast blessed the work of his hands, and his substance is increased in the land.

In this place it is easy to bless God as Satan well knows it

But put forth thine hand now, and touch all that he hath, and he will curse thee to thy face.

And the LORD said unto Satan, Behold, all that he hath is in thy power; only upon himself put not forth thine hand.

So Satan went forth from the presence of the LORD.

Similarly our Lord tells the desire of Satan toward Simon here too...

Simon, Simon, behold, Satan hath desired to have you, that he may sift you as wheat

But I have prayed for thee, that thy faith fail not: and when thou art converted, "strengthen" thy brethren.

Strengthening the brethren is shown here

Confirming (strengthening) the souls of the disciples, and exhorting them to continue in the faith, and that we must through much tribulation enter into the kingdom of God.

And not only so, but we glory in tribulations also: knowing that tribulation worketh patience

These words, armed with ^this mindset^

Therefore My brethren, count it all joy when ye fall into divers temptations

So think it not strange

Beloved, think it not strange concerning the fiery trial which is to try you, as though some strange thing happened unto you:

I will bring the third part through the fire, and will refine them as silver is refined, and will try them as gold is tried

That the trial of your faith, being much more precious than of gold that perisheth, though it be tried with fire, might be found unto praise and honour and glory at the appearing of Jesus Christ:

But he knoweth the way that I take: when he hath tried me, I shall come forth as gold.

Knowing this, that the trying of your faith worketh patience.

But let patience have her perfect work, that ye may be perfect and entire, wanting nothing.

Blessed is the man that endureth temptation: for when he is tried, he shall receive the crown of life, which the Lord hath promised to them that love him.

Behold, we count them happy which endure. Ye have heard of the patience of Job, and have seen the end of the Lord; that the Lord is very pitiful, and of tender mercy.

Jesus tells them...

The disciple is not above his master: but every one that is perfect shall be as his master.

And of our Master it says...

For it became him, for whom are all things, and by whom are all things, in bringing many sons unto glory, to make the captain of their salvation perfect through sufferings.

And of ourselves also it says...

But the God of all grace, who hath called us unto his eternal glory by Christ Jesus, after that ye have suffered a while, make you perfect, stablish, strengthen, settle you.

It is God that girdeth me with strength, and maketh my way perfect.

For I reckon that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us.
For our light affliction, which is but for a moment, worketh for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory

Jesus is "a tried" stone

Then was Jesus led up of the Spirit into the wilderness to "be tempted" of the devil.

We also are lively stones which are tempted

There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able

Wherein ye greatly rejoice, though now for a season, if need be, ye are in heaviness through manifold temptations:

Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.

And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God:

Then saith Jesus unto him, Get thee hence, Satan: for it is written, Thou shalt worship the Lord thy God, and him only shalt thou serve.

When the devil had ended all the temptation, he departed from him for a season.

For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.

Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.

Satan answered the LORD, and said, Skin for skin, yea, all that a man hath will he give for his life.

But put forth thine hand now, and touch his bone and his flesh, and he will curse thee to thy face.

And the LORD said unto Satan, Behold, he is in thine hand; but save his life.

And he took him a potsherd to scrape himself withal; and he sat down among the ashes.

Then said his wife unto him, Dost thou still retain thine integrity? curse God, and die.

In meekness instructing those that oppose themselves; if God peradventure will give them repentance to the acknowledging of the truth;

And that they may recover themselves out of the snare of the devil, who are taken captive by him at his will.

But he said unto her, Thou speakest as one of the foolish women speaketh. What? shall we receive good at the hand of God, and shall we not receive evil?

In all this did not Job sin with his lips.

Which is always good to know.

Time for dinner soon, and just so you know I failed in my own temptation to resist take out.

Doing good or doing evil, we all make choices every day, even in the way we think. Sin is like an unwelcome guest knocking at the door wanting to be entertained. The Lord told Cain in Genesis 4:7 “If thou doest well, shalt thou not be accepted? and if thou doest not well, sin lieth at the door. And unto thee shall be his desire, and thou shalt rule over him.”

His desire is the
lusts of the flesh, and He the Lord is referring to is the Devil. Jesus shows this in
John 8:44Ye are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father ye will do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it.”

So basically you have 2 choices, do good, which is the Father in heaven desire, or will; or you can do
evil, which is of the father of this worlds desire.

Sin
before its conceived starts out with an evil thought; this is how we are first tempted. To be tempted by evil is not in of itself sin, because Jesus was also tempted by the devil as we are. But for temptation to become sin, it, like the unwelcome guest knocking at the door must first be let in and entertained in the heart, and then it becomes sin.

James shows this process in James 1:12-15 “
Blessed is the man that endureth temptation: for when he is tried, he shall receive the crown of life, which the Lord hath promised to them that love him.[SUP]13 [/SUP]Let no man say when he is tempted, I am tempted of God: for God cannot be tempted with
evil, neither tempteth he any man:

[SUP]14 [/SUP]But every man is tempted, when he is drawn away of his own lust, and enticed.[SUP]15 [/SUP]Then when lust hath conceived, it bringeth forth sin: and sin, when it is finished, bringeth forth death.”

So when an
evil or lustful thought knocks at the door of your heart, do not let it in, and do not by all means entertain this evil and most unwelcome guest.

James 4:7 “Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.
Very good reminder indeed thx

I have argued this with unsaved Jews and they have no interest in this being sin offering. Strongs show it as sin 182 times and sin offering 116 times.

Rendering the verse as sin offering does not negate the reason for Cain murdering his brother. That's just a shallow understanding of the passage.
