Let's play this out logically and economically...
Dude, we can play hypothetical all day and it won't negate the fact that women are, in real life, paid less than men in the same occupation, on average. You can give explanations for why this is the case - % due to women's initiative in the job vs. % due to outright discrimination - but to deny that the gap exists just ignores the evidence.

If this was 19thC I might be a feminist. I don't believe in equality. I might say I support the right to vote but I don't need to be a feminist to battle men for the right to vote or own property because that has been done. So what is there to fight about now? Have you heard that there are menimists? They want equality for men. Its right though if you have feminists you have menimists. Feminism has gone way too far. There is a report out that says men who smile at women are nice to women or hold open doors are sexists. To not be sexist you have to treat men and women the same. Feminism denies that because women have babies and so are mothers they are naturally suited to be domestic life while men are hunters, fighters and leaders. If we could ban words like sexism and feminism from the dictionary we would all be better off. Women should be keepers of the home and are better suited to the caring jobs like teaching and nursing. They should not be soldiers, builders, weight lifters.
It's radical feminism that goes to the extremes. As least in the USA.

Feminism embraces women's abilities in the home. It advocates that it is fine and good for her to be a homemaker and that being a homemaker is hard work. Feminism also advocates that, if a woman so chooses, having an occupation outside the home is fine; except not at the expense of her children.

It's radical feminism that looks down on parenting and thinks women should be doing jobs that men are more physically designed to do. It's radical feminism that wants to blur the lines and suggest that the only differences between men and women is anatomy.

I'm a male and I'm a feminist.

I'm considered a feminist (so I've been told), but not to the point of stupidity. Though women deserve all the equal rights and privileges of a man, we are not men. <<Women are obviously more talented and intelligent>> :p

Maybe there should be a separate team for girls wrestling or rules for the case of mixing genders. Most other sports, I see no problem like this. If she likes knocking guys down, maybe she should consider football or hockey, instead of wrestling. Still yet, if your comfortable touching your own gender awkwardly, why not the opposite? I'm not a guy though, so my perspective is different. I don't see anything wrong with it honestly. Personally I always wanted to be on the wrestling team but was too busy with the other sports and activities

Thats not a fight for women in civilised countries except where immigrants bring these practices here and thats a fight to preserve civilisation. I think women make good teachers but whether we are best teaching girls not boys?
Last time I checked, the whatsoever we did for the least we did unto Christ. I'm not sure that it's useful to look at these issues just based on our own position of privilege.

Additionally, you've no data to support the idea that women are better at teaching girls than they are at teaching boys.

I feel like the feminist movement was won, and I am glad it is... I honestly am: women can vote, have equal salary if they do equal work, and obtain higher education.

However, a few days ago I was watching the news with my little sister and there was a girl wrestling boys in highshool. So I asked her "Do you think she should be allowed to wrestle boys".
My sister said "Why shouldn't she be able to wrestle them, we are equal". And to be honest she seem mad at me even asking her that.
I then said" I don't know about you, but if I was wrestling a girl I would treat her differently because I would have to touch areas that I am not supposed too in order to win. I don't think she should be able to roll around on the ground with a bunch of hormonal boys in the name of equality".
When she didn't answer I said "I don't want to fight I just want to hear your thoughts, and see what you think..."
And she said in a defeated tone"I think your right..."...

It seems to me that feminism has turned from civil rights, and became a Genesis 3 event.

Now, I don't want to sound chauvinistic; however, I am seeing this "psychology" of a war of the sexes much like war of political views and war of races... Am I just culture shocked, and behind the times, or what?
So by "won" you mean in the US only? Because in that case you're still wrong. The wage gap is still real, we run a much higher risk of having decisions regarding our bodies decided for us by the government, or if you want to look at it from more of a social standpoint, women are held under more scrutiny for their physical appearance than men (not that men aren't as well, but it's definitely unbalanced), women are pushed to remain pure, modest, and we labor under the delusion that women are not sexual beings and should be shamed if they act like it, while men are praised for promiscuity.

The list goes on but I'm going to stop because it pales in comparison to what happens in other countries.

For example, in countries in Africa and the Middle East, women ranging anywhere from infants to their teens are subject to female circumcision (aka: genital mutilation) because the parts they are naturally born with are considered unclean, and the procedures are incredibly dangerous and serve no health benefits. In 2013, an act passed in Indian states that if a woman is raped by her husband, it is not considered rape as long as she is over 15 years old. In Yemen, an act was passed in 1992 stating that a woman must permit her husband to have sex with her if she is fit to do so and as long as she is over 18, forcing her is not considered rape. In Nigeria, a man can legally beat his wife for the purpose of correcting her. In Turkey, women are not allowed to have jobs without their husband's permission.

And that's just the tip of the iceberg.

The definition of feminism is equality for both men and women. And probably the perfect example of why men need feminism in the US is because in the US it's legal for men to be circumcised at birth (a procedure that is, more often than not, done for cosmetic purposes and in reality serves no medial benefit) without their consent. Women don't face that risk. Men shouldn't have to either.

So no. The battle has not been won because men and women are not equals. The US may be in a much better place when compared to other parts of the world, but the battle has definitely not been won.

All these women talking about how women dont have it equal to men are mistaken. Women have it way better than men. All the Wage gap is is a giant myth that keeps being repeated. If you want to see how men have it worse check this site out.

I can't imagine ANY High School boy, ANYWHERE, that would be unhappy wrestling girls...
in school, out of school, in his car, in his living room, anywhere, any time, day or night.

I also can't imagine ANY father dumb enough to let his daughter do this.

problem isn't "feminism" per say. problem is it gets corrupted from the original ideals. it gets hijacked. Just like say Unions. back in the day Unions were actually for the working man, but it got corrupted and hijacked to become nothing but a arm for the democrat party.

Indeed. The lies feminists propagate are utterly false. Regarding the "wage gap" myth, here's what the liberal media isn't telling you: No, Women Don’t Make Less Money Than Men - The Daily Beast

Understand that men have been increasingly displaced from the U.S. labor market as industries in the industrial and manufacturing sectors were offshored overseas and outsourced to foreign companies. Then there's the matter of insourcing foreign workers to replace them in the U.S. complicated by illegal immigration which took much of the "low hanging fruit."

Furthermore, in the Great Recession men were let go from their jobs at a 3 to 1 margin over women and fewer were rehired compounding the problem.

And, of course, the economy transitioned to a service sector, which now comprises about three-fourths of the total U.S. economy, that favors the social and networking talents of women and men have not been hired at the same rate as women.

Women now outnumber men in the U.S. labor market and in colleges but the suicide rate for males is four times higher than women. Men have enormous issues their facing and most women are completely detached from them and reading some of the feminists in this thread; honestly could care less.

Here's an MIT report discussing it: http://economics.mit.edu/files/8754

"It is widely assumed that the traditional male domination of postsecondary education, highly paid occupations, and elite professions is a virtually immutable fact of the U.S. economic landscape. But in reality, this landscape is undergoing a tectonic shift. Although a significant minority of males continues to reach the highest echelons of achievement in education and labor markets, the median male is moving in the opposite direction. Over the last three decades, the labor market trajectory of males in the U.S. has turned downward along four dimensions: skills acquisition; employment rates; occupational stature; and real wage levels.

These emerging gender gaps suggest reason for concern. While the news for women is good, the news for men is poor. These gaps in educational attainment and labor market advancement will pose two significant challenges for social and economic policy. First, because education has become an increasingly important determinant of lifetime income over the last three decades—and, more concretely, because earnings and employment prospects for less-educated U.S. workers have sharply deteriorated—the stagnation of male educational attainment bodes ill for the well-being of recent cohorts of U.S. males, particularly minorities and those from low-income households."

Complicating the problem is the anti-male bias in the mainstream media that ridicules and dehumanizes the married husband and father at almost every opportunity. But then really what mentally and physically healthy male man would want to serve as the man-slave of a female in a lop-sided legal contract she can void at any time for no reason whatsoever (even on the Internet for $159.99) for herself while holding him financially liable for up to two decades and in some states the rest of their life and if he balks on the payments he goes to jail. Yeah right, let's line up for that *sic*.

Good thread on feminism here: http://christianchat.com/christian-family-forum/79897-dangers-feminism-24.html#post1452902

What I don't understand is this...

So it's okay for men to roll around with each other and touch each other in areas that are deemed inappropriate in order to win? [in context of wrestling]

:\

Rachel, there is a very inappropriate answer but I don't think it is suited for CC...

I think that something we need to consider in this conversation is the topic of ethics. I studied ethics in a couple of my communications courses, and it is a major issue in many workplaces, of course. One of the big things that many people do not realize about ethics is that it is more complicated than a discussion of right and wrong. There are different ethical systems of decision making. These systems provide people with ways of determining what is the best course of action.

I like the interesting point that you brought up about females wrestling males. I think that this is probably a good example of a case where it may be best to consider the welfare of both the males and females. Even still, there will be times when doing the right thing doesn't feel as good as doing what everyone expects us to do. Having a good understanding of the ethical systems that you rely on will help you explain yourself to others.

I'd not say women "have it better than men", - it all depends. As a Christian, I must say women can never be like men, and vice versa. I think there is no need to try to replace one another. Adam, when created by God, was given his role, whereas Eve was given her own role. Because most of the world doesn't follow the biblical principle given by God, hence the problem around this issue. Women shouldn't compete with men in salary as well as in strength, and so men shouldn't treat women bad or exercise their power of superiority. If every human followed this simple principle, - this issue would never be raised! :)

Being equal does not mean we are the same. However, we all want to be treated on the same level of worth.

I'm shocked when I see boys bullying girls. Years ago this would have been considered a shame for a male. No real man picks on girls. What is he sick? But now a days you see male and female bullying one another. They've blurred the gender lines so that there aren't any social rules for either.

IMHO, it's the purposely diluting of 'Male and female created He them' in order to redefine what God has made.

I hear you. Before the paternal nuclear family model was replaced by the feminist child support model, fathers were in the home mentoring their sons.

But women went to the polls and transitioned marriage from a paternal nuclear family model into a feminist child support model that severely penalizes the decreasing pool of kamikaze males who will still risk it all and say, "I do." About half of first marriages go down in flames (the statistics for divorce rise considerably in subsequent marriages) and spend the next decade or two as the man slave of their ex-wife (who typically starts dating within a year of the divorce if she wasn't already cheating on him). Many of the other half of married men walk on egg shells out of fear of joining their divorced peers.

Of course, increasingly men don't bother with marriage anymore. Why buy the cow when you can have the milk for free. They do a SWOT analysis in their head and see draconian liabilities that extend far into the future with little to no benefit for their lives and say, "I do not."

Marriage is in rapid decline, as a result, and becoming an anachronistic institution. Presently 40.6% of all children born in the U.S. are born to a single mother: FastStats - Unmarried Childbearing and increasingly, if the man does live in the home he's not going to incur the draconian liability of a legal contract that will devastate him for many years when it all goes bad which it does with regularity today.

Studies show the children coming out of the feminist child support model have a lot of problems and are typically much more antichrist in the worldviews they adopt than before.

If you can't handle it because of your 'hormones' the problem lies with you and you shouldn't go anywhere near a mixed wrestling match. In principal it should be possible for a man and woman to wrestle together though, if they're focused on the sportive activity ONLY, without any sexual thoughts.
