In Ex 17 Joshua was told to make a selection from among the men to go out against the Amalekites. The entire army of Israel was not dispatched to the battle, only a select number. It really does not matter whether the whole army of Israel went out or not as they seem to have done at Jericho. The number of Israelite troops were irrelevant because the Lord is the one who achieved the victory, not the number of troops.

it might be helpful to find out why they don't realize the miraculous nature and extraordinary events that took place......

When he casts a beam and the water becomes red or overflows to a great flood and it affects all peoples except those in the safety zone, and you do this 9 times with the results of the red water or the flood, then you will have a comparison (allowing for the difference in technology).

If you do research on the 10 miracles YHWH did you will see that every time a plague hit Egypt one of their gods were demolished... until God destroyed their human god Pharaoh himself. His son was a deity.

the reality of 'gods' what does the NT teach us? Both Christ and Paul and those who penned the Word of God thru the paraclete, revealed that 'gods' were 'devils'. indeed... When the Veil in Christ is removed, ye will see what I talk about.

John talks of the 'anti christ ' coming..
