When I grow up I want to be a marine biologist, but is it a sin? It sounds silly, but i'm curious. Marine biologists study marine life and plants and how they both react with eachother. Marine biologists may also feed "evidence" to theories about evolution and life. this is what i'm scared of. is this a sin? I'm so curious because i have a burning passion about the ocean. please help.

Not at all. Science is not in conflict with God at all. The problem with science is not science itself, but when you put humans into the equation. All humans view the world through a lens. This lens is based on their past experiences, disappointments, successes, the things they have been taught, and the mentors they have had in life. Every human approaches anything with an inherent bias (the lens), automatically making presumptions and judgments about things even before they have had time to examine or observe it.

So understandably many scientists in the science world see studying the possibility of an intelligent designer as a futile endeavor because of the lens they are viewing the world through. Science in and in itself, without humans in the equation, is completely objective and does not lean towards or away from God. However those who can study science objectively are most likely to be lead to the idea, that at the very least an intelligent being created everything.

Science actually works pretty well with. Actually with someone like me, it could improve my faith. But yeah, there's nothing with science other than evaluation, and global warming. Both are crap. I am undecided about the Big Bang theory though, When God said let there be light. The Bible just said there was light. It didn't say anything about what the light was, and I'm pretty sure that a huge explosion would give off light. I'm just saying that a possibility though, I'm not saying that what God actually did.

Science isnt a sin, you may have to deal with alot of people that are not Christians and that are going to challenge your faith. but sometimes challenges like this God puts into our lfie for a reason.I took a biology class as well as an astronomy class you have to take science classes at some point and all of them teach evolution but it doesnt make me believe it any more, in fact the more I see the more I know that is something I DON'T believe.

yes, i agree. i'm learning about the theory of evolution at school right now. i dont believe we came from monkeys. but i do believe a human body can evolve with its surroundings. like eskimos, there body got used to the cold. Hawaiians are really tan because there skin has more pigment to withstand the rays of the sun. i believe in that kind of evolution.

Adaptation yes, but that I agre with, we definetly do not look exactly like our ancestors and have made it so that we can live in differnet locations comfortably. Its easy to assosiate with evolution because thats kind of how they define evolution that its a change, but yes I can't believe we came from monkeys and before that from single cells because if thats true, why are we the only creatures on earth that live the way we do.

and if we evolved from monkeys through time, why arent there half monkeys half humans walking around? lol

exactly, lol when you look at things like that it can be easy to fight the idea of evolution. I had some good ones during astronomy...but im sure evolutionists could come up with LOTS of different arguments back

Proverbs 25:2
It is the glory of God to conceal a matter,But the glory of kings is to search out a matter.
Isn't what a scientist does is to SEARCH OUT a matter? Absolutely!!
But you MUST keep in mind that Creator created...and all for His purposes. So Give HIM the glory over what you discover!

The basic difference between a christian who is a scientist is that they see science within the greater framework of God and His creation, and they are studying what God has created. The non-christian scientist has ulterior motives which generally stem from human pride, human effort or perhaps even to prove a certain anti-Christ view such as evolution. The goal of the christian scientist is to glorified God, whereas the goal of the non-christian scientist is to glorify whichever deity they believe in, or if atheist/agnostic, to glorify themselves or human kind. The issue is not with the science but the attitude towards it and what they intend to use it for.
