A lot of this stuff was written several thousands years ago for a tribal society where life was cheap and women needed the protection of men. Whats so hard to see that we have moved wayyyyy past this. I dont need any man's protection. I will earn my own money. I will choose who and when I will have sex with and not be told that I must. I do not want to be some sort of servant to another adult and I dont have to. I dont even need a man to have a baby if I dont want to - I can go to a sperm bank. This is a new era and men better get their head out of the sand and come into the 21st century. Women dont want to hear this rubbish any more - well at least this girl doesnt. If a woman marrries you then you better be dam well grateful because she doesnt need you like a woman did 2500 years ago. Its about time men got rid of this I'm number one - outdated biblical attitude and be ecstatic that a woman is willing to walk through life beside them - NOT behind.

Esther 1:10-19

[SUP]10 [/SUP]On the seventh day, when the heart of the king was merry with wine, he commanded Mehuman, Biztha, Harbona, Bigtha, Abagtha, Zethar, and Carcas, seven eunuchs who served in the presence of King Ahasuerus, [SUP]11 [/SUP]to bring Queen Vashti before the king, wearing her royal crown, in order to show her beauty to the people and the officials, for she was beautiful to behold. [SUP]12 [/SUP]But Queen Vashti refused to come at the king’s command brought by his eunuchs; therefore the king was furious, and his anger burned within him.
[SUP]13 [/SUP]Then the king said to the wise men who understood the times (for this was the king’s manner toward all who knew law and justice, [SUP]14 [/SUP]those closest to him being Carshena, Shethar, Admatha, Tarshish, Meres, Marsena, and Memucan, the seven princes of Persia and Media, who had access to the king’s presence, and who ranked highest in the kingdom): [SUP]15 [/SUP]“What shall we do to Queen Vashti, according to law, because she did not obey the command of King Ahasuerus brought to her by the eunuchs?”
[SUP]16 [/SUP]And Memucan answered before the king and the princes: “Queen Vashti has not only wronged the king, but also all the princes, and all the people who are in all the provinces of King Ahasuerus. [SUP]17 [/SUP]For the queen’s behavior will become known to all women, so that they will despise their husbands in their eyes, when they report, ‘King Ahasuerus commanded Queen Vashti to be brought in before him, but she did not come.’ [SUP]18 [/SUP]This very day the noble ladies of Persia and Media will say to all the king’s officials that they have heard of the behavior of the queen. Thus there will be excessive contempt and wrath. [SUP]19 [/SUP]If it pleases the king, let a royal decree go out from him, and let it be recorded in the laws of the Persians and the Medes, so that it will not be altered, that Vashti shall come no more before King Ahasuerus; and let the king give her royal position to another who is better than she.

The book of Esther reveals two kinds of women. Esther-who was a Godly woman, Queen Vashti, a worldly woman that was filled with pride and no respect for her husband. King Ahasuerus was very proud of his wife Vashti's beauty and invited her to come so that he could show her off to all of his court. When she refused to honor her husband's request, she insulted the king. Her disobedience to her husband created the open door for Esther to become Queen. Because of her lack of respect Vashti was the "wrong kind of woman"

My question to you is are you the wrong kind of woman who disrespects her husband or are you an Esther that brings honor to her husband? And if you are a man which type of woman do you want?

Well..I can promise you I dont disrespect anyone. So I dont intend to disrespect someone who wants to walk through life with me. We'll walk together supporting and sharing. You threw a lot of verses at me but my point was that they were written for women in a totally different society. I will love and support and appreciate every moment for someone whos willing to love me n be kind to me and appreciate me. Someone who wants to share the little things like laughing at my dumb jokes or surfing together. When I am dying and its my last breath...I'll be thinking of those little moments not the verses you threw at me. I dont want a biased relationship. I want a loving sharing one.

I think this is the main issue with your understanding. You seem to not like scripture. You say you threw a lot of scripture at me but you will do whatever you want. The verses you so disregard are the Word of God. I don't see why you feel following the Word of God you will have nothing but a loving relationship with your future husband. The scriptures don't give a free pass for men to treat their wives like animals. If a man is being controlling and abusing his wife then he isn't of God and is twisting scripture to support his own agenda.

I keep on reading comments about how certain scripture is for that time and not this time. If Christians believe this then eventually nothing in the Bible will be for today and we might as well just burn the Word of God like anti Christians do. You can't pick and choose what parts of the Bible you believe and what parts you don't. Gods Word was here at the beginning and it says when heaven and earth pass away the Word will remain. What I see here is pride coming from you and a lot of others when discussing this topic. Granted it is a hard topic to swallow and if I were a woman I would probably question it as well. There are many things in the Bible that I have questioned, but after meditating on it and seeking Holy Spirits guidance I have seen what the truth is.

This is complete immaturity on your attitude toward the Word of God. You know I tell my wife I need her and she tells me the same. There is nothing wrong with needing someone for support and to lean on each other. Do you put God first? Do you need God or is that something that was done 2000 years ago as well and He just better stay out of your way? Your attitude is blinding you and making you bitter and hateful. Have you discussed this with your youth pastor or someone in your church? I pray that God will give you a loving and gentle heart.

Zoii, I wanted to say that this scripture was not directed at you in any way and so if it offended you in any way I apologize, but as somebody did say that is the word of God and we are to obey it. I actually read it in my daily readings and wanted to share it and get people thinking of what they wanted. Esther was a Godly woman and was obedient, but she actually had the ability to stand up for herself yet in a loving way. Not only did she save the Jews life, but she also gained so much respect from her husband.

And here we have a perfect example why 70% of young men (and growing) in Western Civilization presently refuse to marry anymore. Little miss radical feminist liberated secularist is going to learn the hard way as is any male foolish enough to become legally ensnared by her.

Me, I just want to change the law so these young secular feminists have to go to war and fight on the front lines with a rife in their hand through full tours exactly as men do in a legally mandated 50/50 ratio. Because you know, they don't need no man do the fighting and dying for them either obviously. Tag them and bag them.

If she keeps going down the road she's on she'll be just another immoral, sin-jaded, hard-hearted, selfish, egotistical, materialist, anti-christ Jezebel in less than a decade. Wait for it...

She's 14.
A bit overboard, eh?

At 14, l still wanted to be Optimus Prime, and then when l realized that wasn't going to happen l moved on to more realistic goals.

I wanted to be Luke Skywalker.
We all need time to grow.

So could you describe the perfect wife for you? Because it doesn't sound to me like she exists.

there are several excellent examples of a faithful wife in the book , in Hebrews.

might be more there than in the whole united states, btw.... as it is written "a good wife , who can find" and "she is a gift from Yahweh" .

not only do I like the idea of a woman walking beside me, I like even more a woman walking ahead of me...

I think I read somewhere that women in their twenties now have higher average wages than men, often do better in college (too much adhd in guys?), and are more likely to graduate from college...

the women around me doing the important stuff frees me up to do stuff like play on the computer or riding lawnmower...

but interesting thing... even though my wife did all that stuff above way better than me, she says she thinks of me as her rock.

I lean toward the Vashti side, myself... though there's not really enough detail to know about the personalities involved...

Vashti may have been a person with high self-esteem and confidence...

I don't see why you feel following the Word of God you will have nothing but a loving relationship with your future husband.
if the husband is abusive, the relationship won't be loving... I don't see things in scripture about leaving your spouse if they are abusive...

I suppose you could take a broad view of verses like God hasn't given us a spirit of fear and figure that could give you an out...

Okay, but what if you asked her to do something for you and she refused in front of your friends, would that be disrespectful?
