Even The Shining? Great movie.
I was asked about films that are better than the book. Yes, The Shining is a great movie. The book is trash, just like all King's work.

He just swears a lot and tries to come off as outrageous, when in fact it's just amateurish.

IDK?

The Shawshank Redemption and Stand By Me, were both great movies.

King liked the Shawshank movie more than his own short story.

Cujo was one of the King movies they made that ended the opposite of the book.
I don't understand why they do that to stories. Are we not supposed to notice?

Once more, with feeling...I was asked about movies that are better than the books. Yes, Shawshank is a great movie, as is Stand By Me.

I'm not surprised King likes the movies better than his own work. His work is terrible.

I don't like Stephen King anything, it just scares me. Now give me any action movie and I am a happy camper.

I do prefer reading the book instead of the movie because the movie in my opinion is never as good.

Shawshank. One of my favorite movies. Stand by Me was pretty good. Those kids did a great job of acting, though I wasn't really into all the cussing.

Seriously? Most of Stephen King's books are much better than their movie/TV series counterparts. The only exceptions to the rule, that I've seen, are "The Shining", "Shawshank Redemption" and "The Green Mile".

Jurassic Park really is a good contender with its book, seeing as how Crichton tends to have a big impact in the film making process also - God rest his soul.

And yeah, I was going to say LotR! As much as I liked the movies, Tolkien is so wordy that I don't think even the extended editions can really capture all the charm of the books. Still, fantastic movies, and they really did give the books a run for their money. :D
I thought the "Jurassic Park" book was quite dull, but I enjoyed "The Lost World" book.

My bad.
I was going to edit my post, but we're only given 18 seconds to change it.

What l wanted to say, yes, the bulk of King's work is dark and disturbing, but it is his work that has inspired dozens of movies. Some of those movies are decent, and ......King is responsible for that.

We can say what we want about his novels, but if it weren't for his "terrible" writings, we wouldn't have movie classics like Pet Cemetery part 9: Kitty's Revenge. Let's give the man some credit, eh.

After I thought about this for a while I did like Chronicles of Narnia, but I still prefer the book. Although the representation of Aslan was so powerful in the movies because it was brought to life as a wonderful example of what God is in our life.

Did you like all three Narnia films?

The Dead Zone was pretty good. I tried other books, but gave up in the first chapter. I agree, I think he's a terrible writer. And I really hate his writerly book -- On Writing. Yeah, how to be a successful writer get fried on coke nonstop for two weeks without sleep, a viola! Cujo!

Kind of like wanting to read Hemingways autobiography to learn how to like yourself!

You may not like his writing style, but King is far from a terrible writer. His editor on the other hand, isn't so great (his stories aren't known for being tightly-written). Also, I found On Writing very helpful.

You'd like Stand by Me. (I don't know if it's any better in written form.) Not scary. A coming of age movie. Very sweet. (I didn't know it was King, and now that I do, I'm shocked it was King. lol)

Correction. Good writer. Terrible story endings too often. Terribly stories too often. (I actually don't like his writing style because he is one who preaches too much about the rules of writing.)

Easy one, Jurassic Park. Loads of people have seen Jurassic Park, and it is a good movie, one of the best ever made. Not many people know that Jurassic Park was originally a Michael Crichton book. Spoiler Alert, it's not much like the movie and is extremely boring, in fact, perhaps one of the worst books written in the 20th Century AD.
The first thing I thought was Jurassic Park, I didn't expect anyone to think of it either because I thought it was just me lol. And the movie is quite different to the book too, probably for good reason.

Anything written by John Grisham. Hate his book endings. Finally gave up reading him.

That and I absolutely know Harry Potter's cousin look like Draco in the movie. And, by the time he and his family had to leave, he made amends with Harry.
Uhhhh.. I don't remember Dudley looking like Tom Felton (actor who played Draco)? What are you basing that on, Lynn lol? Or are you being facetious? I can't tell, help me lol! :D

But yes, Dudley did kind of end up sticking up for Harry when they finally left, which I thought was cool.
