I play guitar. There was this song that had a beautiful lead piece to it. Boy it sounded hard. I figured I'd never get it so I never bothered.
But one day I sat down with my gitter and tried to learn it. After a few hours, I got it. I cried out to my wife 'Adrian...I did it'. I was so happy but do you know something?...it wasn't as hard as I thought. Not as complicated as I believed.
Now read:
Acts 20 verse 28...Take heed unto yourselves and all the flock, over the which the Holy Spirit has made you overseers (episkopos, bishops), to feed (shepherd, pastor) the ekklesia of God......
Here again: 1Peter 5:2 Feed (shepherd, pastor) the flock of God which is among you (note, not above), taking the oversight thereof (episkops, bishop).
To whom are these two verses directed? The elders....plural! I keep presenting these scriptures to you in the hopes that one day, one day the light bulb will come on. Like the guitar piece, it's really not that difficult after all.
No single executive pastor with salary can be found in your bible. A plurality of elders working in harmony to care for the newbie sheep. I point to the bible and get hammered for it. A dirty job but someone's got to do it.
