Getting back to the OP!

Speaking as a Canadian tourist who went to New Orleans in Jan. 2009, I am very glad I got pictures of all those monuments before they get pulled down. I personally had absolutely no idea who they were made to remember, but I think if I did, I probably still would have taken the awesome pictures I got, along with one of a Mark Twain style riverboat coming out of the mist which had people raving about how beautiful it was for days.

I am totally against segregation and racial discrimination against anyone from any race or ethnicity. We have had a close black Jamaican friend for over 30 years now. He was going to spend Christmas with us, but has to have surgery on Christmas Eve. We attended his daughters' weddings, two summers ago for one, and many years ago for the other.

We have blacks in our church, although they are all from Africa. But in Alberta, when I was a chaplain, there was a sweet old 95 year old black lady who was an historical Canadian black. From an historical black community, which was not something they taught about in school - only the French and the English counted, another kind of discrimination. Esp. since the city I came from had over 25% Ukrainian orgin and almost no French, or should I say Quebeçois, which is really the kind of French language they are talking about. (My grandmother was from France and couldn't live in Quebec she hated they way they spoke so much when my grandfather brought her to Canada.)

But we do have our prejudices, native Americans being one, or so the media promotes, and East Asian, many of whom are working the low paying service jobs that Canadian teenagers do not want to work, as they did in my day. So I try not to be prejudiced. My ideal is all of us worshipping God together. I guess that would be the biblical ideal too!

PS. As for not putting out her cigarette, maybe the officer was allergic to second hand smoke? I can't even go near someone with 2nd hand smoke on their clothes, without it hurting my ability to breath. And if he wasn't, maybe he just didn't want to breath in second hand fumes? I had not heard that Sandra Bland did that. Those kind of details don't make it through the PC Canadian media filter!

Officer Trollman mentioned Sandra Bland. I was just addressing his statement.

The cop asked her if she WOULD put out her cig.. She said no, I don't have to, which is true. It was a request, not a direct order from the cop to her. She had every right to refuse to put it out, seeing as how she was IN the car, so the smoke wouldn't have affected the cop at all. What this woman went through was horrible, especially getting her head slammed on the concrete 3 or 4 times.. :/ JMO
Dude is a former(?) drug addict who is filled with hatred of all police. You are what can best be described as his enabler. You feed him and encourage his hateful statements. You went so far as to say you "could" post videos of people who were attacked by police officers while being totally compliant. Then, when pressed, you did pretty much what Dude does, you said you didn't feel like posting up those videos that you say exist in great numbers. You are a story teller, much like Dude.

Sandra Bland was non-compliant. She could have gotten a simple traffic ticket. She blew smoke in the face of the police officer and refused to exit her vehicle until he told her he would light her up with his taser. She then kicked (assaulted) the officer. When it comes time to handcuff people who are under arrest, some comply and others have to be forced to comply. Again, it is their choice. Bland was very upset at her own family because they refused to come down to the jail and bail her out. What kind of person was she, and what kind of family did she have for that to happen? She was likely a very unlikeable person who was disliked by her own family. She became so distraught that she killed herself. Lady Blue talks openly about her own depression and thoughts of suicide in the past. When someone is that ill that they are suicidal, they need professional help. Sandra Bland needed professional help. She was clearly unstable. Less than one person in a thousand who is stopped for a minor traffic infraction reacts like she did. She was unhinged. She killed herself.

So why are you and Dude trying to cover up for an unstable and depressed and suicidal person and blame the police or the jail staff for her death? Should we be just as insensitive towards your depression and suicidal past and blame you, or call you a drama queen who seeks attention by any means available? Would that be fair? No, it would not. So quit treating police officers in a way that you would never want to be treated.

I believe she was deliberately targeted because she was a known civil rights activist. Maybe she didn't want to get outbif the car because she knew she would be man handled.... Which she was....
You must spend a lot of time sending fan mail to Al Sharpton. You attempt to copy his style. You ignore investigative findings and grand juries and prefer to fan the flames of racial unrest. You'll say anything you can to smear the police, no matter what type of criminals you have to embrace along the way. It seems the drug use you admitted to has fried your brain and left you mentally corrupted, so that you are blind to the obvious and only have one mission, to slander the police. My bet is you never got off the drugs and you are still hiding from the police, and have declared them your enemy.

Are you remedial? OK detective Trollman. If I'm hiding from the police, then how am I going to work everyday? if I'm not going to work everyday then how am I paying my phone bill to be on this forum? You assume that everyone who has dealt with addiction in the past must be mentally deficient and have no credibility. Only there are countless ministers and drug counselors who have struggled with addiction in the past. Your argument is invalid.

Yea ya'll can close it whenever if the folks don't want to settle down some. No need to personally attack each other, the Dixie cult stuff is the main problem, not the people. The Dixie cult stuff is like the KKK, cults, gangs, neo-Nazi/neo-confederate stuff, the Charleston church shooter, the dixie idols and southern revisionism, etc.

It's kinda like a sick parody of typical nationalistic type stuff I suppose, though ironically based around a nation that does not even exist still and that was gloriously stomped out of existence by America. Lo the people of the south in the news article are putting these idols away even, so the people of the modern south doing good I think. Perhaps chance to revitalize the Old South part of America back towards Christianity, or at least clean house a bit. Throwing down idols and cults is as controversial as it was in Gideon's day I suppose, but let it be done and may the people prosper and praise Jesus for it.

remember, sadly, folks like dude only see things like this through the lens of cops are bullies, criminals are " victims". that is all the proof they need.

How does a police officer driving in traffic, spot one particular vehicle being driven by someone he personally knows to be a civil rights activist? Did she have a bumper sticker saying she was a civil rights activist? Do the local police have the license plate numbers of all known civil rights activists? Have the police planted electronic devices under the bumper of all vehicles owned by civil rights activist so they can locate them at all times? Yet this is what Dude believes.

No need to personally attack each other but it sure is fine with you if Dude personally attacks a police officer, calling him a sociopath who abducted Sandra Bland. You're ok with that.

Your witch hunt seems to be casting a wide net. You and dude seem to know exactly who should be burned at the stake. Good for you. I hope you don't mind if the rest of us skip out on your lynch mob. People living in the south are tired of your stereotype. There is no more crime in the south than there is in Cleveland, Ohio, probably much less.

Old times there are not forgotten
Look away! Look away! Look away! Dixie Land.
In Dixie Land where I was born in

Look away! Look away! Look away! Dixie Land.
Chorus:
O, I wish I was in Dixie! Hooray! Hooray!
In Dixie Land I'll take my stand
To live and die in Dixie

Does anyone else here see the sheer hypocrisy in this statement?

Nice backhanded insult, gis.

The Confederate flag represents treason in defense of slavery.. If you think the civil war was not fought over slavery, I refer you to my earlier post on this subject.

and if anyone thinks that slavery was the only issue that the civil war was fought, I refer you to any source on u.s. history that is NOT agenda-based.

Slavery wasn't the only reason but it certainly was on the forefront of the reasons why the South seceded from the Union

The Confederate flag represents treason in defense of slavery.
That's one way to look at it; another way is seeing it as a symbol of solidarity and strength against an oppressive federal government that was overstepping its Constitutional authority. And yes, there is irony in fighting against an oppressive government, in part, to continue the oppression of slavery, yet here we are today, slavery is abolished, but the same federal government is now flat out tyrannical.
