The US had several political realignments from the Civil War to 2016. Ever notice how some southern Americans hold up the Confederate flag? Democrats were champions of states rights (and typically are more intolerant of racial diversity) back then.

I am aware of this argument. I disagree with it indeed. The modern Democrats really aren't much different than their forebears. Nor are the Republicans. It is actually a very common revisionist outlook to try to make the democrat party and/or the old confederacy seem less messed up than they really were in the past and as they are in the present.

My father retired from the US military, he graduated from an American law school, and where I reside as well as where I'm living is completely irrelevant to any of this. Please, stop trying to make it seem like you know me when you don't even know what you're talking about.
