I am with God. Communicate with him and Jesus everyday.. Clearly more so than I do so with you all hahaha.. Stop thinking, I am telling you exactly how it is, Gods way, words, Jesus' way, words, not my own. Stop being so foolish.

Perhaps, we need to first ask what is the difference between our souls, our minds, and our brains. (I don't have an answer for this.)

Generally, I presume that our minds and brains are so integrated that we really can't discern the difference.

But, to follow up on the original question, how does the Holy Spirit interact with certain parts of our brains (or minds, or souls) to give us a new idea that we would not have had otherwise?

I think the ancients thought that the pineal gland was the location of the soul. Does anyone know of any evidence in this direction?

Do you think this is where the Holy Spirit interfaces with our brain to give us new thoughts and/or attitudes?

When the Bible says "Christ is in us", how does He actually influence our thoughts? Does He have a specific place in our brains that He can stimulate?

Is there a functional difference between the brains of a spiritually mature Christian and an emotionally mature non-Christian?

Any thoughts?
God is an omnipresent Spirit, and thinks all through His omnipresent Spirit, and thinks outside our body.

I do not think that God influences our thought,as if to have to cause our brain to think that, but it is His Spirit directly communicating with us,but we have the choice to listen,or not,for if God did effect our brain to think that, then we would not have a choice anymore, but our brain would only think the thoughts of God,but we know it is poosible for a person to sin after they are saved,if they desire,so God communicates directly by His Spirit to us,and does not have to cause our brain,or anything else to think of ther things concerning God.

Paul said he serves Christ with his mind, for it is by the mind that we make the decision to follow God,which the Holy Spirit will testify of Jesus to us,and exalt Jesus within us,that is why people that are led of the Spirit love Jesus greatly. The Spirit does not put thoughts in our brain, although our brain does notice them, but communicates directly to us,and then our mind will make the decision to follow or not.

The Spirit teaches us,and if God put the thoughts in our brain, the Spirit would not have to teach, and we would not have to understand, but we would know everything the Spirit has to offer, without being taught.

I hope it makes sense.

I think we should first define what we as humans actually are. We like God are triune beings. We consist of flesh, soul and spirit. The flesh is well flesh, the soul is all we think and feel and the spirit is that part of us the God makes alive and "merges" with when we are saved.

Me too Willie...it was good!

I have read all her books and I have a medical background and I was listening to a talk by a psychiatrist in Montreal and he brought out the brain scan photos that showed the toxic brain cell and the healthy brain cell.

It really did look like a gnarled up tree for the toxic thoughts and the healthy ones were all branched out and alive and intermingling with the other good thoughts.

Quite fascinating... ( some don't like Dr. Leaf because she believes in healing - but that is par for the course in all things with people that have different beliefs )

I'm Vineyard. We literally live in active, present and real healing.

BTW, have you seen the "brain" video in the "Conquer Series?"

Am not exactly sure how it all works but am convinced we have been given a new heart and mind and are responsible to read the Bible and allow the Holy Spirit to interpret the meaning to us and have our minds changed (repenting going on).

IMO I believe it is important to know we do not have a civil war going on in us since we have been given a new mind and heart the old one has been disposed of but we do have the memories of it in our flesh., our old manner of life. We have to "relearn" how to think again.

I like Dr.Caroline Leaf too. She has said many things contrary to the human psychologists who affirm we can't change our brains by use of our mindset. Dr.Leaf says we can and must. I agree.

We have the mind of Christ because the Bible says so. We have not been given a spirit of fear., but of power and love and a SOUND MIND. It just will take time for us to have our minds renewed to new habits of thinking. For years we thought a certain way that caused us to do life a certain way. Now we have to re learn how to think by faith and not by sight.

Can't do that without the Holy Spirit and abiding in Christ. This is an excellent topic and I was really glad to see someone post it. The verses about how the Word of God goes down into the very bone and marrow of a person., into their deepest parts of soul and spirit...and begins cutting away thoughts and exposing the intents of old mind sets bringing them to the light and seeing them for what they are.
Amazing.

Hebrews 4:12
[SUP]12 [/SUP]For the word of God is living and active and full of power [making it operative, energizing, and effective]. It is sharper than any two-edged [SUP][a][/SUP]sword, penetrating as far as the division of the [SUP][b][/SUP]soul and spirit [the completeness of a person], and of both joints and marrow [the deepest parts of our nature], exposing and judging the very thoughts and intentions of the heart.

I was asked to teach it, but I couldn't really get behind it.

Now I do remember it. and I know why you couldn't really get behind it. I couldn't either. Good intentions though and some may come out of it that way for awhile.

Mankind is a Spirit "Pneuma" who has a soul, "Psuche" [The Mind, will and emotions], and lives in a body, "Soma"
1 Thess 5: 23.
With our body, we contact the physical realm, with our soul, we contact the mental realm and with the Spirit, we contact the Spirit realm.
The rich man in hell still had his mind, although he brain was in a grave with his body.

The Spirit of man is the candle, [Light] of the Lord, searching all the inward parts of the belly, [Spirit].
God speaks to our spirits. 1 Cor 2: 12--14.

Satan is ones thoughts. Jesus' words. Gods truth. Spirit of truth, truth. Anyone who says different is a liar.

Our brain communicate through chemical and electrical signals.

The photon is both a particle and a wave of light.

I think science understands very little of the mind or the spirit.

We have spiritual bodies. I don't know if science will ever be able to measure or quantify the spiritual realm.

The Bible tells us that unless God gives us the eyes, heart and mind we are blind to the spirit realm.

However Elisha open his servants eyes and he saw angels surrounding and protecting the two of them.

We aren't alone. God protects and leads us.

How does the Holy Spirit do it?

Dreams, visions, illumination of scripture are a few ways God does it for me...

The Holy Spirit isn't a new organ we have. He is a person and he talks and conversed with us as a beloved Father who teaches and guides us. The new birth gives us spiritual eyes and ears to hear, New hearts that strive to fellowship with Him. He teaches our minds and purified our souls, body and heart. Making our bodies holy temples in worship to God.

All I know is that I feel it in my stomach. It's like that electrical hair standing up on
the back of the neck feeling, but it starts in the stomach and comes in waves over
the body.

Its why you might see someone under the strong influence of the Holy Spirit
holding their stomach. It doesn't hurt its like a powerful overwhelming presence.
If you have felt it you will understand. You just know it's God.

Its also the reason for verses like those below in the bible

The Holy Spirit is the third person of the trinity, not an it, thing, or ghost.

We are filled with the Holy Spirit and that filing takes place in the centre of our being, there is
no science behind it. It's not possible to put God the Holy Spirit under a microscope or in a test tube.
We are the created not the creator. :)

Ezekiel 3:2-3 NKJV
[2] So I opened my mouth, and He caused me to eat that scroll. [3] And He said to
me, "Son of man, feed your belly, and fill your stomach with this scroll that I give
you." So I ate, and it was in my mouth like honey in sweetness.

Revelation 10:9-11 NKJV
[9] So I went to the angel and said to him, "Give me the little book." And he said
to me, "Take and eat it; and it will make your stomach bitter, but it will be as sweet
as honey in your mouth." [10] Then I took the little book out of the angel's hand
and ate it, and it was as sweet as honey in my mouth. But when I had eaten it,
my stomach became bitter. [11] And he said to me, "You must prophesy again
about many peoples, nations, tongues, and kings."

John 7:37-38 KJV
[37] In the last day, that great day of the feast, Jesus stood and cried, saying, If
any man thirst, let him come unto me, and drink. [38] He that believeth on me,
as the scripture hath said, out of his belly shall flow rivers of living water.
