Last response here, then I need to sleep.

Here's the thing: I don't claim to know where the universe came from. At least, not yet. The big bang theory is a step in the right direction in my and many other people's minds, but there's still a LOT we don't know. But here's the thing: I don't think the Bible is any more a reasonable justification than saying that we don't know yet.

Filling gaps in our understanding of the world with "A guy in the sky did it" has historically not gone too well, and I don't think it's a good path to pursue.

Nobody says science is infallible. Science by definition corrects itself. Unlike the Bible, which still says the moon generates light and the sky is made of water. (Seriously.)

The beauty of science is that when we learn something new, we can revise old theories to fit.
Everything that has a beginning, must have a cause. The universe has a beginning, therefore, it must have a cause. I think you're actually the one who believes in a god of the gaps. Not us. As for the Big Bang Theory. Good gravy, there are so many holes, I don't know where to start. You do realise your atheist pals are starting to move away from it themselves, don't you? Even they realise the ship is going down and they don't want to go down with it.

well, maybe he thought he had something to share... if you believe you are right, wouldn't you want to share that truth with people you perceive are wrong? he probably thinks that what he is saying makes a lot of sense and that just discussing the arguments in a peaceful manner would force the truth to emerge... i can't say i can blame him really
it is fairly close minded to refuse to discuss with people we disagree with... or to dismiss them out of hand because we are certain they are wrong before we even heard what they had to say...
I totally agree, I am not dismissing him nor calling for an end to the discussion. But I read every reply on this thread, and the majority is internal conflicts not even related Atheism. It is my assumption that, we have digressed from the main topic of asking isaiah questions, and I was trying to do just that.

Every human being with a sound brain, living on this planet has 2 resounding echoing questions that beckon to the heavens.

WHO AM I?

WHY AM I HERE?

No religion can answer that.

no atheist can call back to that soul.

It can ONLY COME FROM THE CREATOR.
IT IS HIS "DEAL" AND HIS ALONE.

He has a name ;

Why would we bother to ask him questions about the religion of atheism? We can look all around us and see its thumbprints in every part of society. Besides, this forum is called Christian Chat, not Atheists Anonymous.

I believe in welcoming Atheists to our discussions but only to show them what christianity is about, not to give them a platform for them to tell us what Atheism is about.

Sometimes what is in their heart is calling out to who is in our heart.

Perhaps it's because every two weeks an atheist joins the site with this mentality of 'I'M HERE TO ANSWER ALL OF YOUR QUESTIONS ON ATHEISM'. Act as though they are some novelty on the site and that everyone here is entirely ignorant of what atheists believe and why. Only to have it revealed shortly after that their REAL reason for being here is to push their atheistic agenda while taking an active role in trying to disprove what is believed on here. This behavior is very commonplace and has become quite old and stale. When they are all just parroting clones, both in action, intent and argument, it becomes rather difficult to take them seriously and to not dismiss them.

I mean, you can Google it for yourself. But I'll tell you this much. You can go as deep or as surface level as you'd like with the word.

'In Matthew 5:48, the word “perfect” is teleios, and the Vines Expository Dictionary of New Testament Words defines it as “signifies having reached its end (telos), finished, complete, perfect.” For its use in this verse: “complete, conveying the idea of goodness without necessary reference to maturity…”'

In the context of this passage, "you are to be perfect", you're to love as God loves - unconditionally and without favouritism. It's a summary of the New Covenant.
Thank you. Been a busy day today, (a little here, a little there, always with 15-45 minutes in between to fill up with dishes, trash, and laundry...or play on here), so I didn't get quiet time with God.

I think you just gave it to me. Thank you.

It really isn't a good use of time....
If you would open up your mind to our beliefs it might be a good use if time but trying to "teach" Christians and false teachings is not a good use of time.... sorry....
I used to love the command to the space shuttle " throttle up"

What would happen if we got totally abandoned to Jesus.

Right! I couldn't think of anything positive about atheism, so I just threw in some cookies to 'balance' things out a little more. ;)
GlaDOS is Glad.
Something positive about atheism -- there's no other way to go but up.

I have read Strobel, and honnestly i was far from impressed... it is full of incorrect statements and logical falacies... really, strobel is not the best you can do, he is a bit of a joke. A better one would be William Lane Craig for example, or John Lennox.

i also recomend a book by an author called Guy Harrison called 50 simple questions for every christians.
I see
I will look into it.
Although I do not understand why I give you a book that presents both sides and you give me one that has one side

I'm not sure what you mean by that, but I'm guessing you're asking how I justify my belief in whatever happens after you die.

For reference, like most (but not all) atheists I don't think anything happens after you die. You just die, and that's the end of it.

The main source I look at to arrive at the above conclusion is that we just don't have any hard evidence of anything special happening after death.

And yeah, that's pretty much it.

What about you?
You have as much hard evidence you'll wake up tomorrow, enough hard evidence that you should go to school, enough hard evidence to hope your sport team/nnd does a f\great job, and enough hard evidence that your family loves you. How much more do you need?

Well, I came across the realization that my beliefs weren't based on any real logic or evidence. So I stopped believing. Not much more to say than that.
I came to the rationalized that earth is a square. And then I concluded I might be wrong and should rethink it. Every try that?
